Evil MC's NTR Harem

Chapter 539 Well

The days passed, but Brandon never returned.

The massive sum of cash remained untouched in a room adjacent to his office, sitting there as if waiting for someone to claim it.

Strangely, the room had no lock—not even the simplest of security measures.

Only Brandon had the keys, and no one else seemed to have access.

More baffling was the fact that no one questioned the moneyʼs presence, nor did anyone inquire about its whereabouts.

It was as if it had been completely forgotten.

Ted, however, couldnʼt shake the unease growing inside him.

He knew that the superstore was under constant surveillance, with cameras installed in nearly every corner of the building.

There should have been footage of everything—who entered, who left, and most importantly, what happened to the money.

Yet, something about the situation felt off.

Deciding to trust his instincts, he made his way to the security room once more, hoping to find answers.

What he discovered, however, left him stunned.

”Where did they go?” Ted muttered under his breath, his pulse quickening.

His eyes scanned the screens, but no matter how many times he checked, the result was the same—there were no security cameras in Brandonʼs office or the side room where the hundreds of millions of dollars had been stored.

That wasnʼt normal. The security system covered every other part of the superstore, including storage areas far less significant than this one.

So why had these particular locations been left unmonitored?

His mind raced as he tried to piece together the reasoning behind such a glaring security gap.

Then it hit him.

”Of course,” he thought, his hands clenching into fists.

”Ross wanted to hide the money. He made sure there was no trace of its existence whatsoever.”

The realization sent a chill down Tedʼs spine. This wasnʼt just negligence—this was intentional.

Someone had gone through great lengths to ensure that no one, not even the security team, would ever find out what really happened in that room.

”Millions of dollars in dirty money…” Ted muttered, staring at the stacks of cash before him.

His heart pounded, and his hands trembled slightly.

The sheer amount of money sitting in that unguarded room was mind-boggling.

It would be so easy—just one quick grab, and his life would change forever.

But he clenched his fists, shaking his head.

”No, thatʼs not me,” he told himself firmly. He refused to be that kind of person.

He had always prided himself on being honest, hardworking, and faithful to his principles.

With renewed determination, he turned away from the tempting sight and forced himself to focus on his work for the rest of the day.

He threw himself into his tasks, trying to drown out the thoughts clawing at his mind.

Yet, no matter how hard he worked, no matter how many reports he completed or meetings he attended, the image of that money never fully left him.

It lingered in the back of his mind like a whisper, nudging him, tempting him.

That night, when he went home, the unease followed him.

He climbed into bed beside his wife, Grace, feeling more exhausted than ever.

She was beautiful, kind, and patient—always supporting him no matter how stressful his days were.

But tonight, as he lay beside her, he felt a heavy weight pressing down on him.

”Iʼm sorry, love,” he whispered, staring at the ceiling.

”I donʼt know whatʼs wrong with me. Maybe I should see a doctor tomorrow.”

A week passed, yet the problem remained.

No matter how much he tried, he couldnʼt bring himself to be intimate with Grace.

He avoided her touch, dodged her concerned questions, and buried himself in work to distract himself.

But deep down, he knew the real issue. It wasnʼt exhaustion. It wasnʼt stress.

It was the money and something more insidious.

It had taken root in his mind like an obsession.

”Is this because of stress at work? Am I pushing myself too hard?” he asked himself, grasping for any excuse other than the truth.

Before he even realized what he was doing, he found himself standing in front of that room again.

His pulse quickened as he turned the handle and stepped inside.

The money was still there.

Stacks upon stacks of crisp hundred-dollar bills, untouched, unclaimed.

A fortune beyond anything he had ever seen in his life.

He let out a shaky breath. Part of him had expected it to be gone, taken by someone else who had the same thoughts running through their mind.

But no—it was still there, waiting.

His conscience screamed at him to walk away. To quit the company.

To call the authorities and expose Ross Oakleyʼs massive money-laundering operation.

But another voice—quieter, yet far more persuasive—whispered something else.

”Before I do that… should I at least take some? Just a little? Nobody will know, right?”

His hands twitched at his sides.

He could take a small amount, just enough to make a difference in his life.

Just enough to pay off some debts, secure his familyʼs future, maybe even give Grace the life she deserved.

It wasnʼt like he would take all of it. It wasnʼt like anyone would even notice a few stacks missing.

Before he could talk himself out of it, he reached forward, grabbing a thick bundle of bills.

It was heavy in his hands, the weight of temptation pressing down on him.

By his estimate, the stack alone was worth a million dollars.

His breath hitched as he shoved it into his bag.

A cold sweat ran down his back as he left the room, his heart hammering in his chest.

Every step felt like it could be his last. He expected alarms to blare, security guards to grab him, Ross himself to storm in and demand what he was doing.

But nothing happened.

Nobody stopped him. Nobody even looked at him twice.

That night, he went home, every sound making him flinch.

The rustling of the trees outside, the distant hum of cars, even the soft ticking of the clock—it all felt deafening.

He expected the police to come knocking at his door at any second, expected the weight of his crime to come crashing down on him.

But the night passed peacefully.

Grace slept soundly beside him, completely unaware of the stolen fortune hidden just a few feet away.
