I Can Copy And Evolve Talents

Chapter 50: Cocky Bastard [part 1]

The next few nights for Northern were pretty bland—First, he made sure he took a lot of rest and ensured that his body was in good condition.

While doing that he also did a few things like inspecting his growth from the war.

Northern’s eyes were almost ripped from their sockets due to his shock when he found out that his talent fragments went up by 100.

’I must have fought so many monsters.’ He thought to himself.

Of course, he couldn’t wave away his regret of not having the last kill on that Razorlf general. That would have undoubtedly earned him at least six talent fragments.

Although saddened by the fact, he quickly raised his spirits with a crazy goal—to make sure he got the last kill on Night Terror. Of course, his mighty general should be worth more.

That was Northern’s guess anyway, he didn’t really know if the danger level of monsters played a role in the amount of talents he received from them.

Speaking of Night Terror, Northern had not caught a glimpse of him since he woke up.

”The wounds he received seemed quite severe, is he resting...” Northern murmured to himself.

He heaved a smile, spreading his arms akimbo and closing his eyes.

”I guess even a terror like him is not invincible.”

He opened his eyes and glared into the straight distance, grasping his fist.

”I can do this...”

Killing Night Terror was not going to be an easy task, but it was doable. He just had to do more of what he did the last time and it was all going to work out.

Northern summoned his armor, the scruffy armor weaved itself around his body as he stepped out of his room.

Northern’s room was a significant change that occurred to him since he came back from the war; at first, he feared that it was temporary, so he tried not to get used to it. Also, since he couldn’t communicate with the monsters to find out exactly why he had been out in the new room, it was very frustrating.

But it had been a while now, and he was still using the room; no one seemed to have an issue with it, and his dead guardian regularly came to serve him.

Still always with an indifferent look.

Mr Fluffy also stayed with him, except that it was now getting used to the monsters being around, so it growled less and ate more... slowly growing in size too.

After taking the swirling stairs down the tower where he stayed, Northern began tracing a clear path to the yard, passing through the corners of the castle.

As always, several monsters were standing in the open area, sparring with each other, their vicious talons striking against their opponent to cleave flesh and crush bones.

Northern walked towards the ranks of common monsters; immediately he reached them, they parted the way for him; most of them present were members of his own squad, and after what they saw at the waterfront, they showed him absolute respect and unwavering trust.

Fighting alongside Night Terror was not something even other generals had done. And from the corners, they glared at Northern, their eyes filled with disapproval.

Northern didn’t care, nor did he mind. There were bound to be one or two who didn’t roll with him. It was just bothersome that it had to be monsters.

When he thought about being a drifter, what he thought he would be doing was fighting and killing them. Not fighting with them and killing for them.

It was exhausting every time he thought about it. Although, what was more exhausting were the silent days he spent.

Maybe because he now felt a little bit stronger, thanks to the experience of his clone, and the talent fragments and items received, he wanted to go back to the battlefield as soon as possible.

He also wanted to try these moves that played out in his head. Maybe it was just a fluke, or maybe he had gotten stronger; he wanted to know.

He had been keeping it cool, but seeing these monsters brawl with each other just made him want to jump in too.

He looked around, setting his gaze on a particular hideous hellion. When he laid his eyes on it, Northern smirked and walked towards it, easily walking through the crowd of monsters as they consciously tried not to block his path.

Reaching the muscular creature, Northern craned his neck to look into its horrifying eyes and said with a vibrant glint in his eyes.

”Fight me!”

The creature lowered its head to look at Northern indifferently for a few seconds, no expression of any sort flickered in his eyes even after the human warrior had spoken his mind.

Northern scratched his head due to the awkwardness.

”I guess it really does not understand...”

Northern stared absently for a few seconds and suddenly flung his hands toward the center of the arena, pointed to himself and the monster, and then summoned the Mortal Blade with a wicked grin on his face.

If at all the monster did not understand anything, his last two actions made things quite clear, especially that grin that was plastered to his face.

The monster, for once, contorted its face with irritation. Its expression was literally saying ”I hate that smugness on your face, wipe it off.”

Northern grinned even wider as the monster’s expression changed for the first time.

He turned and majestically marched to the center of the arena. The two monsters that were grappling each other immediately stopped and moved back with their heads bowed.

Northern gripped the hilt of the Mortal Blade and headed to the center, then he turned and awaited his angel of death.

The monster slowly approached, its muscles rippling with every thunderous step it took.

Its form was massive, almost like Night Terror’s in a way, but battered with scars and burns. Its bipedal strong legs moved forward one after the other until it was standing in front of Northern.

It yanked the axe from its back and slammed it on the floor, then rested both hands on its handle.

Northern raised a corner of his lips.

’Cocky bastard.’
