Chapter 616: Shocking Data, Conflict Erupts

Under Chen Yan’s relentless assault, the Bobcats were already on the verge of collapse.

With 3 minutes and 36 seconds left in the game, Gerald Wallace drove into the paint and was brutally rejected by Jordan.

Chen Yan grabbed the basketball and launched the counterattack on the spot.

Stephen Jackson chased him all the way past the Three point line. Chen Yan changed direction on the move. Jackson tried to plant himself in Chen Yan’s path, but Chen Yan was already charging forward with too much momentum.

After the body contact, Chen Yan sent Stephen Jackson flying.

At the same time, the referee’s whistle sounded.

Chen Yan still managed to toss the ball into the air.

Swish!

And one!

Many fans in the arena rose to their feet and applauded. When Chen Yan stepped to the free throw line, MVP chants once again echoed through the Bobcats’ home court.

Barkley laughed. ”Chen has taken over this game. He looks like a god out there, like he can do whatever he wants on the floor.”

Kenny Smith nodded. ”Chen Yan already has a 70 plus point triple double. There is still time for him to push for an 80 plus point triple double, but it does not look like the Bobcats will give him that chance. They are already getting ready to pull their starters.”

That basket was the final straw that broke the Bobcats.

After Chen Yan made the free throw, the Bobcats removed all their starters, officially sending the game into garbage time.

Chen Yan also came off the court to rest.

Padding stats in garbage time was bad form. It invited criticism, and there was always the risk of an opponent taking a cheap shot out of frustration.

Although Chen Yan had a system that could heal injuries, his points were not unlimited. He was not going to waste them like that.

At that moment, the broadcast wanted to cut to Michael Jordan again. Everyone wanted to see the meaningful expression on the Basketball God’s face.

But Jordan did not give the camera that chance. Once the game entered garbage time, he left the arena directly. Even from his retreating figure, fans could feel how unhappy he was.

...

The final buzzer sounded.

The Suns defeated the Bobcats, 129 to 116.

Chen Yan finished with an absurd super triple double of 73 points, 16 assists, and 13 rebounds.

After tonight, Chen Yan became the first player in NBA history to record a 70 plus point triple double.

His assist generated points reached 38, bringing his total scoring impact to a staggering 101 points.

Domestic fans went completely wild again. Once more, Chen Yan had stolen the spotlight from everyone.

”Chen Yan just delivered another god tier performance!”

”In the first game after Stoudemire and Barea were traded, Chen Yan exploded again. Management would never know how terrifying he is unless they pushed him!”

”Because of Chen Yan, I have developed a terrible habit. Now when I see other players score 20 or 30 points, I feel nothing.”

”This level of dominance is absolutely historic!”

”Jordan was convinced tonight!”

”I do not know whether he was convinced or not. I only know his face got slapped black, hahaha!”

Tonight, all eyes were on Chen Yan, and his teammates also talked about him during their interviews.

Jordan said, ”He makes me feel like anything is possible. Watching him play in the NBA looks easier than watching me play in high school. Seriously, he is a genius. It is like he has a divine pen and just casually writes whatever stat line he wants every night. It looks that simple.”

Nash said, ”He is one of the greatest scorers in history. I do not think anyone can doubt that, because the numbers do not lie. But what I want to say is that while people focus on his scoring, they might overlook another talent, and that is his passing. In my opinion, he is Magic Johnson. His passing makes his teammates better. He showed that tonight. He is the Suns’ confidence. As long as he is on the court, the entire team feels confident, and we believe we can win any game.”

D’Antoni said, ”Today, he showed his best side. He did not just score himself. He drove the scoring of his teammates as well. I am very fortunate to coach him. Having a player like that under my command makes me very proud.”

A reporter followed up, ”A 70 plus point triple double is an absolutely shocking stat line. Are you surprised Chen produced such terrifying numbers?”

D’Antoni smiled. ”Not at all. I know he has this ability. I would not be surprised by any stat line Chen puts up.”

The reporter asked, ”Do you think he is the best scorer in the current NBA?”

D’Antoni kept smiling. ”My suggestion is to replace current with history. I am not just boasting about my player. Looking through NBA history, no one scores like Chen Yan. In modern basketball, whether it is scoring 101 points or recording a 70 plus point triple double, those are miracles. But Chen Yan did it. Maybe from now on, we should call him the Miracle Boy. He always brings us a new kind of shock.”

Gallinari, who had just joined the Suns but had not yet linked up with the team, was interviewed by reporters in New York.

”I think I have already become his fan. I am really looking forward to playing with him. He is good at creating more offensive space for his teammates, and I think playing beside him will be very comfortable.”

Of course, most of the spotlight fell directly on Chen Yan himself. At the press conference, he spoke at length about his thoughts on recording a 70 plus point triple double.

”Tonight, I was just scoring and assisting, then grabbed a few rebounds along the way. Then everything just happened naturally.”

After Chen Yan finished speaking, the reporters all laughed.

This guy was showing off again.

A satisfying win, combined with god tier numbers, made Chen Yan’s anger from before the game disappear. Now he leaned back in his press conference chair, fully enjoying the victory.

”So far, your average points per game have already exceeded 50. The season has only just passed the halfway point. If you can maintain this, it will be another great achievement in your NBA career. Before the season started, did you ever imagine you would perform like this?”

”I did.”

Chen Yan paused.

”But only in my dreams.”

The reporters laughed in unison again.

After the joke, Chen Yan gave a more serious answer.

”This season, we have dealt with injuries to core players and personnel changes, which has made the team’s condition very unstable. In that situation, every night, all I think about is doing a little more and pushing myself a little harder. That way, the team’s chances of winning become greater.”

Many NBA stars also accepted media interviews after the game or the next day.

Their words were filled with surprise and praise, but in reality, many of them were already numb.

Chen Yan had set too many records this season. While many stars praised him publicly, they were secretly irritated by him.

The league’s scorers had quietly made up their minds. The next time they faced Chen Yan, they would perform well and suppress his arrogant records.

However, the person most unhappy with Chen Yan was not an opponent.

It was someone who was about to become his teammate.

Rondo believed Chen Yan’s playing style disrupted the team’s balance. In his view, the ball should be distributed by the point guard, not controlled through Chen Yan’s individual play.

Rondo seemed a little unclear about his own position.

During his first practice with the team, he barked instructions at Chen Yan, told him where to run, and even ordered him to come out and set a screen.

That was Rondo’s personality. He always believed he was the smartest person on the floor and the one who was right. Everyone else had to listen to him.

But Chen Yan did not indulge him.

He responded directly, ”Just give me the ball. Then stand where you are supposed to stand and watch.”

Rondo had a fiery temper too. ”Let me distribute the ball. That is my job. Your job is to wait for my instructions.”

Chen Yan stepped straight into Rondo’s face.

”Are you teaching me how to play basketball?”

Their teammates quickly rushed forward and separated them, afraid that Chen Yan would punch Rondo to the floor in the next second.

There was no fear in Rondo’s eyes, but not being afraid and being able to win were two different things.

Chen Yan’s fighting ability had already been proven. If he threw a punch, his teammates could only pray Rondo survived it.

Management felt a headache coming as they watched the conflict unfold.

Their idea in bringing in Rondo had been simple. Nash was entering the twilight of his career, and the increase in injuries had caused him to play inconsistently this season. Their backup point guard, White Chocolate, was also getting old. They needed a younger point guard to partner with Chen Yan.

But from their first joint practice, it was obvious their personalities were not compatible.
