Chapter 190: The Max-Level Player Dominates the Rookie Village!

”Chen! That’s it! Keep shooting! Blow up the whole stadium!”

In the stands, Amar’e Stoudemire, wearing a cowboy hat and denim jacket, was dancing in excitement, completely hyped.

Beside him sat Steve Nash, calm as ever, holding his twin daughters on his lap. He smiled faintly, the kind of proud, quiet smile that only a veteran could wear. He couldn’t jump around like Stoudemire, but the joy in his eyes said it all.

Three Suns players were on the floor tonight, and the two team leaders were here to show support.

Across the arena, the camera caught LeBron James sitting courtside. He had originally come to cheer for his young teammate Daniel Gibson, but now even LeBron was applauding, shaking his head in disbelief at Chen Yan’s performance.

---

Back on the court, the sophomore team had possession. Brandon Roy dribbled at the top of the key, facing Chen Yan’s intense defense.

Calling for a pick, LaMarcus Aldridge stepped up to set the screen. The two Trail Blazers teammates moved in perfect sync.

Roy turned the corner, rose from the 45-degree angle, and pulled up for a mid-range jumper.

Swish!

Money. Roy’s signature move, smooth and confident.

95–83.

Roy was the only sophomore matching Chen Yan bucket for bucket. He clearly had All-Star potential, but in the loaded Western Conference, even Tracy McGrady hadn’t made the roster this year—so Roy had to wait his turn.

---

The freshmen came right back.

Chen Yan’s hot streak drew a double team, leaving Conley an open lane. He drove hard, but his layup rimmed out.

”Oh, what a chance!” shouted the commentator. ”That one was wide open!”

Aldridge grabbed the rebound, pivoted, and scored through contact — foul and the bucket.

2+1.

95–86. The sophomores were starting to find rhythm again.

Now desperate to shift momentum, they switched into a zone defense.

At the top of the arc, Chen Yan faced Rudy Gay one-on-one. The sophomore defense sagged slightly, wary of his drive.

Chen smiled. He knew the best way to break a zone — shoot right over it.

He pounded the ball twice, then went into a dazzling rhythm: between-the-legs, crossover, hesitation—step back!

Gay slid to his right—too late.

Chen exploded sideways with another hop-step, creating just enough separation.

Swish!

Pure. Net untouched.

98–86.

That was Chen’s eighth three-pointer of the night, and it instantly snuffed out the sophomore rally.

The best part wasn’t the move or even the shot — it was the celebration.

The moment he released it, Chen turned around, already walking toward his bench with his hand raised, high-fiving his teammates before the ball even dropped. The crowd went insane.

---

”Oh my goodness, that’s a cold one!” the commentator laughed. ”Yao, if you were defending that, what would you have done?”

Yao Ming chuckled. ”Honestly? I wouldn’t even try. Doesn’t matter if I could stop him or not — I just don’t want to end up on a highlight reel.”

The arena burst into laughter.

---

Back in play, Roy and Aldridge ran another pick-and-roll, but this time Roy kicked it to Gibson in the corner.

They needed threes to catch up.

Gibson’s been shooting 44% from beyond the arc this season — better than his two-point percentage. He pump-faked, took a dribble, and went up.

But that split second gave Chen Yan time.

He lunged from the wing with perfect timing—

Bang!

He didn’t block it, but the pressure was enough. Gibson’s shot clanged off the rim.

Durant cleaned up the rebound and brought the ball up slowly, crossing half court.

Durant drove left, faked a handoff, then kicked it out to Chen Yan waiting beyond the arc.

The moment Chen caught the ball, the sophomores panicked.

Gibson and Gay both closed out hard — they could lose the game, but they couldn’t let Chen hit another three.

Chen smirked, flicked a quick pump fake, sending both defenders flying past him.

”See ya!”

He took one long step into the lane. Roy rotated to help, but Chen faked again, slipping past him effortlessly.

Now it was just him and Bargnani.

Chen barreled into him, drew contact, and flipped the ball off the glass — and in!

Whistle!

And-one!

Bargnani stood frozen under the rim, hands still raised, watching Chen walk right past him.

The arena shook.

”Wooooow!”

”Showtime!”

”No one can stop him!”

”It’s his night!”

Chen Yan’s 1v4 play lit up the crowd. Cameras flashed everywhere as he stepped to the line.

The commentators couldn’t stop laughing.

”Unreal!” Mike said. ”He faked out three defenders and still got the and-one!”

Yao Ming chuckled and added, ”Yeah, he just walked into the paint like a max-level player farming in the rookie village. Totally unfair!”

The fans roared with laughter at Yao’s comparison — it was the perfect analogy.

Even the players on the bench were grinning. Tonight, Chen Yan wasn’t just playing basketball.

He was putting on a show — a masterclass that turned the Rising Stars Game into his personal highlight reel.
