Chapter 77: Suddenly He Became the Undead King

The Land of Iron was, frankly, boring.

There was nothing particularly special about it. The only thing worth mentioning was that there were indeed plenty of samurai here, and Kenichi even ran into one who tried to extort him.

With Sasori’s help, that samurai vanished without a trace.

”I did not expect you to carry something like that, Sasori,” Kenichi said, staring at the spot where the man had been moments ago.

He truly had not expected Sasori to have corpse dissolving liquid, and for it to work so cleanly.

That, in turn, made Kenichi want to investigate further. What did they use to break down a body that efficiently, and why was there no stench at all?

As Kenichi looked at the empty ground, a strange thought surfaced. Maybe it was possible.

”Yes. Most ninjas in Sunagakure have it,” Sasori said, sounding indifferent. He was still thinking about Unit 01. If he were not on a mission, he would be in his lab right now, modifying it without sleep.

The Land of Iron was not large. Before long, they reached the border leading into the Land of Lightning.

Compared to the lax inspections in the Land of Iron, the Land of Lightning was far stricter.

Even so, it could not stop Kenichi and Sasori from using their face changing technique. After all, Orochimaru had used disguises to infiltrate Konoha in the future. It was perfectly normal that border shinobi could not see through it.

They were allowed in, but Kenichi was still shaken down for two thousand ryo.

He went silent for a full breath.

He had been ready to praise the professionalism of the Land of Lightning’s border guards. Instead, it turned out they were professionals in the same way he was.

”Sasori, do you know Kinkaku and Ginkaku?” Kenichi asked as they moved deeper into the Land of Lightning.

The main purpose of this trip was to search for those two, and at the same time, test the power of the thermobaric bomb.

”Yes,” Sasori answered. ”They are said to be responsible for the deaths of the Second Raikage and the Second Hokage.”

Kenichi stroked his chin.

That record was absurdly impressive. He did not even know whether he could defeat someone at the Kage level yet.

And the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, was not an ordinary Kage.

Many of Konoha’s forbidden techniques came from Tobirama’s research. The Impure World Reincarnation technique Kenichi held now was one of Tobirama’s creations.

If Kenichi were not worried about control, and if Orochimaru were not still refining the technique in his own way, Kenichi would have wanted to resurrect Kinkaku and Ginkaku immediately and demand to know where the Sage of Six Paths’ tools were.

Still, every time he thought about those two brothers and their treasures, he felt a sense of dissonance.

Golden Horn and Silver Horn were names he had heard far too often in stories from his old world. Even their mystical tools carried heavy cultural flavor, as if someone had taken a familiar legend and pasted it into the ninja world.

For a second, a ridiculous idea even flashed through his mind.

If that were true, would the Sage of Six Paths be a God?

Kenichi immediately dismissed it. Of course that was impossible.

”You want to find their bodies?” Sasori asked, watching him closely.

”Yes,” Kenichi admitted without hesitation.

On the way here, he had not been daydreaming. He had been studying.

With the addition of the Shinigami masks, Kenichi now had a slight understanding of souls, or at least a starting point. That led him to one question that he could not ignore.

What would happen if he used Sage Chakra to perform Impure World Reincarnation, but instead of offering a living sacrifice, he directly summoned and returned the souls?

The idea fascinated him.

This was still experimental, an improved version of the Impure World Reincarnation technique at best. He did not know if it would succeed.

”I heard they were eventually killed by the Third Raikage,” Sasori said, frowning. ”But their exact burial location was never made public. If we want details, we would probably have to go to Kumogakure.”

”No need to rush.” Kenichi gestured ahead. ”There is a town. Let us check the cemetery first.”

Sasori did not argue. He followed Kenichi into the town, and they found the cemetery about a hundred meters away.

There were still ordinary people there, paying respects.

Kenichi opened and closed his eyes. In an instant, he entered Sage Mode. Lightning like markings spread along the corners of his eyes.

Sasori watched with quiet curiosity, trying to figure out what Kenichi was planning.

Kenichi put on a mask, then changed into Akatsuki clothing. In the next moment, he appeared in the middle of the open area near the cemetery, with Sasori following right behind.

”From this moment on, let the ninja world feel pain,” Kenichi blurted out.

There was no one close enough to hear him.

Only Sasori did.

Sasori’s eyes narrowed in confusion. He also put on a mask. The leader had instructed them to keep a low profile in the early stage and avoid exposing their identities.

A massive amount of Sage Chakra condensed in Kenichi’s hand, mixed with Yang Release chakra.

Following the framework of Impure World Reincarnation, he began by anchoring the technique, but he did not select a specific target.

Then he slammed both hands onto the ground.

The Sage Chakra surged into the earth, splitting and flowing like veins beneath the soil. In an instant, it spread toward every grave in the cemetery, all under Kenichi’s control.

The world went quiet.

The mourners stared at the masked figures in horror.

”Kenichi, what is this?” Sasori asked, unable to hold back his curiosity.

The moment the question left his mouth, he felt movement beneath his feet.

A pair of bony hands, caked in mud, burst out of the ground.

The same scene erupted across the cemetery. Graves shuddered. Dirt split. Skeletal fingers clawed upward.

The ordinary people screamed and fled, stumbling over each other as they ran.

”It worked,” Kenichi said, smiling as corpses crawled free one after another.

Mud and stones clung to them, forming crude armor across their frames.

Soon, the bodies finished pulling themselves from the graves, then turned as one and dropped to their knees before Kenichi Amamiya.
