Chapter 1261: Chapter 507: Gentle Training Method (Part 2)

Ron felt a jolt in his heart; the other person’s words were almost spot on.

Seeing the look of surprise on the young man’s face, Professor Yutel nodded:

”You must be thinking, if this method is so effective and safe, why haven’t other wizards widely adopted it, right?”

The old professor took out a yellowed historical tome from his storage space:

”This relates to a regrettable historical lesson in the wizarding academic world—’The Rise and Fall of the Iron Blood School’.”

He opened the pages and pointed to one of the illustrations:

”In the mid-Second Era, there indeed was a Great Wizard Gryphon who systematically researched similar methods of everyday training.”

”He discovered that through activities like cooking, gardening, and craftsmanship, one could achieve 70% of the effect of traditional painful training with zero risk.”

Yutel turned the pages:

”Gryphon’s method caused a huge controversy at the time.

His students generally progressed steadily, with few training accidents and a more balanced overall development.”

”But this ’too gentle’ method faced strong opposition from the then mainstream—’Iron Blood School’.”

The old professor pointed to another record in the book:

”The core theory of the Iron Blood School is ’Pain is Power’, ’Difficulty is Growth’.

They believed that wizards who hadn’t endured enough pain could never attain true strength.”

”More critically, the Iron Blood School controlled most of the academic resources and discourse power at the time.

They belittled Gryphon’s method as ’child’s play’, claiming that wizards trained this way were ’hothouse flowers’, unable to face real crises.”

Yutel sighed:

”Political pressure and academic exclusion eventually forced Gryphon to stop public promotion. And...”

He turned to later Chapters:

”The ’Great Upheaval’ event in the Second Era became a perfect excuse for the Iron Blood School to attack the gentle training method.”

”At the time, there were indeed a few wizards trained in gentle methods who performed poorly in sudden extreme crises.

Although this was mainly due to their lack of practical experience, rather than the training method itself being problematic, the Iron Blood School took this opportunity to thoroughly stigmatize the gentle training method.”

The old professor closed the book:

”Since then, ’arduous cultivation’ became the mainstream thought in wizard training.

The notion that only through extreme pain can true power be obtained has been deeply embedded in wizard culture.”

”Even if someone occasionally rediscovered similar methods, they would be ignored due to prejudice, or dared not share publicly, fearing being laughed at by peers as ’unprofessional’.”

Yutel looked at Ron:

”That’s why the suggestions from the ’Extraordinary Comprehensive Guide’ are so precious for you.

It judges the value of training methods purely based on their effect, unaffected by these historical prejudices.”

”Moreover, the philosophy of the King of Absurdity is itself a challenge and subversion of mainstream views.

In His view, ’simple and effective’ is far more commendable than ’complex and painful’.”

The old professor added finally:

”Remember this lesson, Ron.

Sometimes, the most valuable knowledge is often buried by historical prejudices.

A true sage should evaluate all methods with an open mind, rather than blindly following authority or tradition.”

”Now, let’s see what kind of effect your ’cooking training’ from yesterday has produced.”

The old professor walked to the control panel and began adjusting the training equipment:

”Today we’ll skip the basics and start with four-element coordination.”

”Four-element coordination?”

Ron was a bit surprised: ”Isn’t that too aggressive?”

”Trust me, the ’tuition fee’ of several Magic Stones spent yesterday should be worth it.”

Yutel smiled faintly:

”Moreover, I have a feeling you’ll surprise me.”

Four floating Energy Balls appeared at the center of the training room, emitting golden-red, deep blue, golden-yellow, and light green lights, representing the four basic elements of fire, water, earth, and wind.

”The task is to synchronize their pulsations, forming a stable cycle of four-element harmony.”

Yutel explained:

”This was originally your next stage goal, but based on your ’practical experience’ from yesterday, I think you should be able to handle it.”

Ron took a deep breath, recalling the experiences he had yesterday while making Element Soup.

Every failure, every detail, now became precious experiential wealth.

”Okay, I’ll give it a try.”

He extended his hands, carefully releasing magic power towards the four Energy Balls.

This time, he was no longer impatient, no longer trying to force control.

But instead, like making soup yesterday, he patiently observed each element’s ”temperament”, then gently guided them towards harmony.

The four-color lights began to slowly synchronize, like a silent symphony being played in the training room.

Yutel, watching this miraculous scene, had a satisfied smile on his lips:

”It seems those Magic Stones were well spent.”

The subsequent training focused more on consolidating and verifying the content from the previous days.

The training room was transformed into a complex battlefield environment.

A variety of mechanisms, energy barriers, and moving targets constituted a three-dimensional challenge space.

”Now, you need to test your control abilities in a practical combat environment.”

Yutel stood in the safe zone, manipulating the entire training field via the control panel:

”Your task is to traverse the entire area to reach the endpoint.

But it requires demonstrating precise power control in the process—not only dealing with high-intensity combat but also protecting fragile targets.”

The design of the training field was extremely ingenious:

Some enemies required full power to defeat, some traps needed precise operations to disarm, and there were simulated ”innocent civilians” that must not be harmed.

This required Ron to switch between different power modes and output intensities during combat.

On his first attempt, Ron, although successfully reached the endpoint, accidentally injured three ”civilian” targets and was judged as a failure.

The second time, he was overly cautious, causing some battles that needed quick resolution to drag on too long, triggering the field’s ”bomb”.

The third time... the fifth time...

It wasn’t until the eighteenth attempt that Ron finally completed the course perfectly.

He learned to switch combat modes in different situations:

Releasing the full power of the Thunderfire Tyrant lineage when facing strong enemies;

Utilizing the flexible transformations of the Chaos lineage when handling precise tasks;

Precisely controlling magic power output when protecting fragile targets.

On the agreed last day of the two-week intensive training, Yutel’s final assessment was ”Eggshell Micro-carving”.

The old professor took an ordinary egg from his storage space and placed it on a special stand:

”The task is to engrave a complete Rune Array on the eggshell surface, requiring clear lines and uniform depth, but cannot damage the structural integrity of the eggshell.”

The eggshell was extremely fragile, and a slightest mistake would completely shatter it.

Engraving with such precision on such a fragile material required magic power precision control to the filament level.

Ron took a deep breath, mobilizing a trace of the most subtle compressed magic power.

He diluted this energy to an almost imperceptible degree and then focused it into a very fine ”energy thread”.

The surface of the eggshell began to show the first mark, the starting line of the outer ring of the Array.

The line was clear and uniform, with a depth exactly reaching one-third of the eggshell thickness.

Next were the inner ring, rune nodes, and energy guide lines...

Every stroke required absolute precision, every arc had to maintain a perfect curvature.

In this process, Ron was completely immersed in the world of precise control.

Time seemed to lose its meaning, with only the flow of energy and the progress of the engraving.

The Thunderfire lineage provided stable energy output, the Chaos lineage assisted in handling complex curve changes, and his rational consciousness coordinated everything like a conductor.

When the last rune was completed, a complete and exquisite miniature Rune Array appeared on the eggshell surface.

Although it couldn’t be said to be flawless, the lines of the entire pattern were already quite stable.

”Congratulations, you’ve completed all the training targets.”

Yutel carefully checked the piece, nodding:

”Your control precision has reached the standard, and you’ve learned to harmonize different powers, rather than letting them interfere with each other.”

The old professor’s voice carried obvious gratification:

”Both technically and psychologically, you’ve already developed the ability to perform missions independently in the Otherworld.”

This evaluation filled Ron with a surge of accomplishment.

Looking at the densely packed growth of Skill Experience Points on the Attributes panel, he felt a myriad of emotions.

These two weeks have certainly been incredibly long.
