Chapter 624: Chapter 303: Favor and Legacy

Eve stood at the edge of the Observatory, the night wind gently brushing through her black hair.

The confession about her own background just now gave her an unprecedented feeling of relief.

It was as if a heavy stone pressed at the bottom of her heart for years had finally been moved away.

But what followed was a deep unease.

As the Princess of the Crown Clan, she had been taught since childhood to control her emotions and never show vulnerability to outsiders.

The genuine emotion she displayed just now was already considered a lapse for her.

The young lady took a deep breath, letting the cool night breeze calm her inner turmoil.

Her amethyst eyes regained their clarity and focus.

The noble aura belonging to the Crown bloodline returned to her like a tide.

”Emotional indulgence ends here.”

Her voice became calm and orderly again, as if the vulnerability she showed just now was merely an illusion:

”We should discuss more practical matters now.”

This personality-switch-like transformation made Ron raise an eyebrow slightly.

He could feel Eve’s inner struggle, but more than that, he admired her self-restraint.

The ability to regain control over her emotions in such a short time is rare even among experienced Official Wizards.

”Regarding the deep operation mechanism of the rules of Favor.”

Eve walked back to the stone table, her slender fingers brushing lightly over the crystal patterns on the surface:

”This knowledge is crucial for your upcoming development, and many of its details are seldom covered even in the public archives of the Crystal Tower.”

Ron leaned slightly forward, showing keen interest.

In his view, any knowledge that could be transformed into actual power was worth delving into.

”First, I need to correct a common misunderstanding.”

Eve’s voice carried the rigor unique to a scholar:

”Not every teaching relationship can create a true master-student Favor link.

In most cases, the Favor feedback generated when a student learns knowledge from a teacher is like a courteous thank you, which tends to diminish to nothing once the continuous teaching ceases.

She paused slightly as her gaze became deep:

”Only when both the master and the student invest real and deep emotions, when the student truly regards the teacher as a life mentor and the teacher genuinely cares for the student’s growth, can a true Favor link be formed.”

Ron thought of Lady Allen, and a warm current surged in his heart.

That strict yet loving old lady indeed played an irreplaceable role in his growth path.

”Once a true master-student link is established, no matter how far apart they are, the teacher can feel each breakthrough and growth of the student, gaining tremendous Favor feedback from it.”

Eve’s tone became somewhat envious:

”This is also why true masters give their students everything they have, holding nothing back.

Because the stronger the student, the purer and richer the Favor the teacher receives.”

Ron quickly analyzed the deep logic of this mechanism in his mind.

He thought of Mentor Soron, Yuni, Hayek, and Magnus, realizing that they also obviously gained some feedback when guiding him.

When he advanced to become an Official Wizard, he too received a significant Favor.

But that feedback clearly couldn’t compare to Lady Allen’s.

”Among my students, only one currently has established a true master-student link.”

Ron said truthfully, as Lily’s face appeared in his mind:

”Every time she makes progress, it indeed makes me feel the pure Favor feedback, and this feeling has persisted to this day.”

Eve nodded slightly:

”That’s normal. A true master-student relationship requires time to cultivate and the resonance of both parties’ spirits.”

Her gaze lingered on Ron’s face for a moment:

”I believe, as time goes by, more students will establish such a deep connection with you.”

”Another key point to note is that once the master-student link is established, it creates a mandatory constraint.”

Eve’s tone turned serious:

”Neither party can intentionally harm the other; otherwise, they will suffer soul-level Rebound.

For students, this constraint is even more severe.

If a student betrays or actively harms the teacher, the Favor circuit will instantly reverse, converting all the received Favor into Spiritual Contamination, directly injecting it into the betrayer’s consciousness.”

”What are the consequences?” Ron was very interested in this part.

”At the mildest, mental disturbance, at the worst, soul shattering.”

Eve said without exaggeration:

”Historically, there was a Dark Sun Level Wizard who became an idiot immediately after betraying his mentor, never able to recover for life.

This is the iron law of the Favor rules, even the Witch King cannot defy it.

That’s why there are numerous stories of relatives killing each other in history, but very few examples of betrayal between master and student.

In some sense, this rule makes the master-student relationship even stronger than familial ties.”

Saying this, the young girl glanced at him casually, then continued:

”Secondly, regarding the mechanism of Favor acquisition through academic achievement publication.

When your research findings are published and gain peer recognition, a special ’inheritance Favor’ is generated.”

”This Favor is different from master-student feedback as it stems from the dissemination of knowledge itself.”

Excitement appeared in Eve’s eyes:

”Each time someone derives inspiration from your paper, you receive a minute amount of Favor feedback.

It may seem insignificant, but if the paper’s influence is broad enough...”

Her voice became somewhat ethereal:

”An exceptional paper in a secondary journal can bring an amount of Favor equivalent to several dozen ordinary students’ total for a year; a primary journal can bring several times more than this...”
