The Master and His Wealthy Fiancée

As Daoist Bo Qing started drinking, the atmosphere began to liven up.

After a few rounds, everyone was slightly flushed, especially Daoist Bo Qing.

The woman accompanying Zhao Yiniann kept raising toasts to him, suggestively lifting her glass and saying, ”You’re on top, I’m on the bottom, Young Master. You name the number of drinks, and I’ll take every last one!”

Zhao Yiniann shook his head. ”Why don’t you go accompany him,” he said, gesturing with his eyes toward Bo Qing. ’If Bo Qing hadn’t insisted on coming, I would have turned down Lu Dian’s invitation.’

The woman looked a little dejected. ’Such a handsome man, and he’s not taking the bait. Acting like a perfect gentleman.’ She had a whole arsenal of tricks but no opportunity to use them. She’d heard he was a young master from a prominent Beijing family. Whether it led to a real relationship or just a fleeting affair, she wouldn’t be the one losing out.

Leaning forward to give him a better view of her chest, she slid her black-stockinged thigh against his and cooed, ”Young Master, I think I’m drunk!”

Zhao Yiniann’s eyes turned cold. ’This woman’s gone too far.’ ”Get lost!” he said icily.

Lu Dian was instantly alarmed and quickly pulled the woman away. He wondered to himself, ’He’s a young man in his prime. Is it possible Young Master Zhao isn’t into women?’

At the same time, he apologized profusely. ”Young Master Zhao, please don’t be angry. This girl doesn’t know any better. Come, come, let’s enjoy the show.”

With a clap of his hands, a dozen or so scantily clad dancers entered the private room. As the frenetic electronic music pulsed, the dancers began to move to the beat.

Daoist Bo Qing was completely mesmerized. The dancers, who were barely covered to begin with, then tossed away the last scraps of their clothing.

Zhao Yiniann did not appreciate such a vulgar performance. ”President Lu, if this is the entertainment, I may have to take my leave.”

Before Lu Dian could try to stop him, Daoist Bo Qing spoke up first. ”Yiniann, don’t be so hasty! We finally get a chance to enjoy ourselves. Don’t let President Lu’s efforts go to waste!”

”Exactly, exactly!” Lu Dian chimed in. He could already tell that this Young Master Zhao was a tough nut to crack and wouldn’t be easily won over. ’The rest of the show is pointless. But this scruffy Daoist seems to have a special relationship with him. Maybe I should start with him.’

The dance ended, leaving Daoist Bo Qing wanting more. With a single glance from Lu Dian, the two women beside Daoist Bo Qing began whispering in his ear.

A huge grin spread across Bo Qing’s face. He stood up with an arm around each woman and said to Zhao Yiniann, ”Yiniann, wait here for me for a bit.”

Zhao Yiniann’s head throbbed. He knew exactly what this filthy Daoist was up to. He roared, ”You damn Daoist, are you crazy?!”

Daoist Bo Qing let out a drunken burp and said, ”I am merely aligning my body with the Dao. I am meant to enjoy good fortune. This benefits Heaven, Earth, and Man, so how can I refuse?”

Zhao Yiniann cursed, ”You disgusting creature, just hurry the hell up!”

Daoist Bo Qing cackled, then led the two women into the adjacent KTV room.

The Lu father and son were stunned by this exchange, momentarily confused. However, the Daoist’s actions had certainly made things much more convenient for them.

Seizing the opportunity, he said to Zhao Yiniann, ”Young Master Zhao, you know, from the moment I met you, I felt like we were old friends. Now that we’re friends, I was hoping I could ask for a small favor!”

Zhao Yiniann’s expression soured. He didn’t respond, fuming internally. ’I never should have brought that damn Daoist with me!’

Seeing Zhao Yiniann remain silent, Lu Dian gritted his teeth, took out a bank card, and slid it in front of him. Feigning generosity, he said, ”Young Master Zhao, there’s one billion on here. Just a small token of my sincerity.”

This was the last of the Lu Family’s assets; they had even taken out significant loans to gather it.

Zhao Yiniann remained unmoved. Instead, he picked up his glass and took a hard swallow of wine.

Lu Dian had no choice but to play his trump card. He leaned in and whispered, ”After the project is secured, I will give thirty percent back to you, Young Master Zhao.”

This was a clear offer of a kickback. For example, if the total project value was 300 billion, and Zhao Yiniann agreed, he would ultimately receive a kickback of nearly 100 billion.

One could only imagine the quality of a project built on such a massive kickback. And this was just Lu Dian’s opening offer; if Zhao Yiniann had been willing to negotiate, the percentage might have gone even higher.

To think they would try such a despicable scheme on the Zhao Family. A flash of ice crossed Zhao Yiniann’s eyes. ’If the Zhao Family had sent anyone else, they might have actually been corrupted by this enormous sum. No wonder that damn, filthy Daoist is so brazen.’

The moment Lu Dian mentioned that outrageous kickback percentage, Zhao Yiniann had already sentenced him to death in his mind.

So, Zhao Yiniann calmly took the bank card and said in a cold voice, ”I understand. I’ll take care of it.”

A wave of euphoria washed over Lu Dian and Lu Chunqing. They had succeeded! In their minds, they could already see the Lu Family becoming the new powerhouse of Jiangzhou thanks to the ”Sunny Day Project,” while the Li Group, which had driven them out, would be kneeling at their feet, licking their shoes.

Lu Chunqing was already fantasizing about seeing the arrogant Li Huiran begging them for mercy, pleading for them to throw her a few scraps of work. He decided that if Li Huiran knew what was good for her and was willing to... *serve* him well, he might be willing to toss a few leftover projects to the Li Group.

Having received a positive answer, the Lu father and son toasted Zhao Yiniann repeatedly. Zhao Yiniann drank along sporadically. After about half an hour, Daoist Bo Qing finally emerged from the KTV room, looking refreshed and invigorated.

Zhao Yiniann immediately announced their departure. After the Lu father and son saw the two of them off to their car, they shouted in excitement.

Lu Chunqing started sucking up, ”You’re still the master, Father! You even managed to handle a young master from the Zhao Family!”

Lu Dian said excitedly, ”It’s just human nature! No one can escape the lure of money, sex, and power. You just have to know which one to aim for. The rumors say Zhao Yiniann is an illegitimate son. I suppose it’s true. He’s not into women, but he sure loves money!”

He then added, ”Give all the women here a big red envelope. Make the ones for the two who accompanied the Daoist extra large. Without that Daoist, things wouldn’t have gone so smoothly today!”
