Reborn at Boot Camp: General, Don’t Mess Around!

Chapter 5297: Following Like A Shadow

The lieutenant treated Ye Jian as a female soldier who was entering a war-torn country for the first time. In order to let Ye Jian be mentally prepared, he picked some key points and told Ye Jian.

“Last year, there were 14 car bombings here. The militants drove the vehicles containing the remote bombs into the camp and detonated them quickly. Last year, a few huge pits were blown up at the entrance of our camp.

“This year, the attacks escalated again, with indirect fire and reverse slope fire attacks. A hole was blasted in the northern camp. Fortunately, we intercepted it in time. If not, the consequences would’ve been unimaginable.

“Apart from the fear of violence, the environment is also a hurdle we have to overcome. In the rainy season, the average temperature is still 40 degrees Celsius. The growth of mosquitoes is quite rapid. Infectious diseases like malaria and yellow fever are unavoidable. The refugee camps will suffer the most.”

On the way to the camp, the lieutenant told Ye Jian about the difficulties and the dangers they might encounter at any time. He treated Ye Jian as a newbie who had just entered a war-torn country. As he spoke, he secretly observed Ye Jian. He was afraid that if he said too much, the female soldier would be afraid.

The lieutenant didn’t see any fear on Ye Jian’s face. When he saw her face, he was surprised. This was the first time she had entered a war-torn country. No matter who it was, they would be more or less afraid. However, the expression of the female soldiers’ captain was so calm as if she had seen such an environment many times. There were no emotions on her face.

This was the first time the lieutenant saw such confidence on the face of a female soldier who had just arrived in a war-torn country.

White Crane drove steadily. He was overjoyed.

Q King, who was sitting at the back, had a serious expression on his face. His eyes were cold as if he was using his expression to echo everything the lieutenant said.

Actually… White Crane felt that he just looked depressed.

Q King, who came to fetch Ye Jian, couldn’t find a chance to talk to her. How could he not be depressed?

However, he couldn’t tell the lieutenant directly that Ye Jian, who was sitting at the back, was a female soldier who had experienced countless wars and fights. He didn’t have to worry that she would be afraid.

The lieutenant had good intentions. No matter how depressed Q King was, he could only bear it.

Of course, now was not the time to talk about love. It was already good enough that they could meet. He could not ask for too much anymore. It was enough to reunite in a foreign country after more than nine months of separation.

Xia Jinyuan’s expression wasn’t serious because the lieutenant kept talking and he couldn’t chat with Ye Jian. He was wondering why Ye Jian came to Libya for peacekeeping.

The more he thought about it, the more he felt that there was something strange about this matter. There was a problem. He needed to think about it and see if he could come up with any clues.

If he really couldn’t do it, he might as well call the country and ask the major general what his arrangements were.

The car quickly entered the city. Ye Jian vaguely heard sporadic gunshots in the city. She looked out of the car window and said to Xia Jinyuan, “Southeast, about eight kilometers away. There are sporadic firefights.”

“Yes, the situation here is complicated. It’s a characteristic of the most dangerous peacekeeping area. It’s abnormal not to hear any gunshots for a day.” Xia Jinyuan, who also heard the gunshots, frowned slightly and opened the map he carried with him.

Just as he pointed at their approximate location, Ye Jian, who had come over to look at the map, reached out her hand and pointed at another spot with her slender fingers. “It should be in this area.”

“This place is about 14 kilometers away from our camp. The camp will be prepared.” Xia Jinyuan nodded. “We need to take a detour.”
