Ascendant Path of a Lustful Vampire

Chapter 579: All part of the process **

With a muffled sound of surprise, Zaila’s eyes widened and then they slowly narrowed until they closed as her mind was thrown into a mild state of turmoil where she was torn between annoyance at his impudence and amazement at how good his lips felt against hers.

As he leaned in closer, deepening the contact of their lips, Caius dropped his hand from Zaila’s chin down into the space between their bodies. There, he trailed his fingers across each of her covered breasts in turn, feeling as Zaila shivered in reaction.

As it turned out, Zaila took note of this reaction in her body as well, and it let a seed of resistance bloom for a second, allowing her to place a hand on Caius’s shoulder to push him away from her.

Before Zaila could push him away, however, the vampire’s lips left hers and she paused all action as she was gripped by a sense of loss that annoyed her because why the hell was she being so putty in this strange vampire’s hands.

Zaila then decided to put as much effort as she could into pushing Caius off her. She tightened her grip on his shoulder with that purpose in mind and shoved. Or at least, she tried to shove but she might as well have been caressing him for all the force she was able to muster.

And then, Caius pressed his lips to her throat. The kiss was gentle and the suckling that followed made Zaila tremble. The tremble caused her hand to lose its grip on Caius’s shoulder so her arm just dangled across his shoulder blades.

When she felt teeth bite down on her throat, Zaila was embarrassed by how her body practically melted into the Vampire’s while simultaneously acquiring a fierce strength to secure her hold on him; she wrapped the arm she had dangled across his shoulder blades around his neck and she wrapped her other arm around his back.

Zaila was just taking note of the fact that her ’melting’ against the vampire’s body had increased the pressure of his hand on her breast when she truly took notice of what the vampire had used to nip at her neck: teeth, not fangs.

Of course, considering how he had been squeezing her ass fairly hard for a while and hadn’t injured her, he was clearly taking care to show restraint. But sheathing their claws is a lot easier and even common for a vampire compared to ’sheathing’ their fangs, because fangs can’t be sheathed. If a vampire doesn’t have its fangs, it must be going to great lengths to appear human.

The vampire nipped at Zaila’s neck a few more times, constantly increasing the pressure like he wasn’t at all worried about the risk of ripping out her jugular because of his lower magic circle compared to hers.

It had to be teeth, Zaila was sure. But when the vampire raised his lips from her neck and Zaila could look at his face again, his eyes were red and his fangs were still gleaming.

’He must have shifted back,’ Zaila thought.

The fact that vampires can assume human/humanoid appearances wasn’t exactly unknown but Zaila had never heard of a vampire choosing to assume their human form when feeding. Or even when preparing to feed on their victim.

As far as she knew—and she knew quite a bit—vampires only assume a human appearance to not arouse suspicion and to essentially hide in plain sight. Otherwise, they seem more comfortable in their vampiric forms and even take pride in it.

Why was this relevant?

Well, the fact that this vampire had chosen to assume a human form—when he essentially had nothing to hide as she already knew what he was—just so he could bite her without causing her injury was peculiar.

Zaila frowned. Having something to work out in her head was doing wonders for her clarity and even as her body seemed so taken over by the thrill induced by the vampire’s machinations, she remained lucid.

She had no doubt this was going to end with the vampire feeding on her. While she didn’t doubt he was after more than just her blood—especially since he already admitted it right before kissing her—she had a strong feeling the end to all this was still feeding. But the care he took to avoid marking her body all over with his fangs, and the manner in which he worked his hands on her body and his lips against hers, undoubtedly proved at least one part of his claims to be true; He fed on his lovers.

Zaila was sure now that he hadn’t lied about that part. There was a clear purpose to all he had done so far that made her sure it was all part of a process he regularly engaged in.

And if that part was true, the odds that the rest were true as well were pretty good.

Should Zaila not then put an end to this experiment?

She had been convinced the vampire couldn’t kill her even if he tried because of how much she surpassed his Magic Circle but now she was not so sure. After all, his touch had somehow made her subconsciously unable to utilize her true strength to pull free from him. In that case, would a higher Magic Circle at all be useful if he actually wanted her dead?

And on the topic of how his touch had subconsciously hampered her abilities, how much worse would the effect be if they saw this through to the end? She had dismissed his earlier claims of being unforgettable as pompous but now she was forced to face the possibility that they had enough truth in them to make proceeding with this ’test’ unwise.

So why didn’t she end it?

Her mind was a lot more lucid now that she had worked through these thoughts and while the hold the vampire’s touch had sunk into her, hampering her abilities, was strong, she believed she could break free.

But Zaila realized then that she didn’t want to stop. She had to be honest with herself and admit that from the start, despite her doubts, she had hoped he was telling the truth because then she just might get to experience what was so good that she would apparently never get over it.

Caius’s lips were on Zaila’s neck, his hand on one of her breasts, feeling its warmth through the thin fabric of her shirt, when Zaila leaned away, pulling her neck away from his lips. And right after, she captured his lips, kissing him hard enough that he took a step back as she pressed herself incredibly hard against him.

As she did this, Zaila finally let her vocal cords work again, letting out a deep moan of pleasure. She raised her hand and grabbed the back of Caius’s hooded head, feeling his hair underneath it.

Caius chuckled at her action.

”There it is,” he said through the kiss, ”Equal participation. Now we can begin.”

”Now we can begin?” Zaila separated their lips to repeat his words like a question. After all, she thought they had long begun already.

Caius just chuckled again and then he lifted Zaila off her feet. She wrapped her legs around him immediately and then Caius spun them around and sat Zaila on the edge of her desk.

They knocked some things off the desk and onto the ground in the process but Zaila didn’t seem to care. She just let out a gasp of surprise and claimed the vampire’s lips again.

Zaila used her lips to part the vampire’s, thrusting her tongue in with very little care for his fangs. She could handle the pain... maybe she would even welcome it.

’Gods, what is happening to me?’ She asked herself but there was no worry in her thoughts. Only anticipation like she had no idea where this journey would take her but was happy to be on the ride regardless.

Her tongue met the vampire’s and they began to dance around each other. All the while, her tongue explored the inside of his mouth and while she wasn’t looking for anything special, she somehow still found herself mesmerized.

Meanwhile, Caius worked his hand down to the hem of her shirt and lifted it, working his hand across her skin until he was pulling down the binds across her chest and palming her breast and touching it without the barrier of clothing for the first time. He kneaded the breast, marveling at its perfection before moving to the other as he kickstarted an alternation.

Zaila mewled at his touch and thrust her chest toward him to increase the pressure of his kneading. Her tongue had retreated into her mouth, inviting him to follow. When he did, her heart beat with excitement as a thrill thrummed through her.

Caius explored the inside of her mouth and then became tangled with her tongue in a dance that increased the volume of Zaila’s moans.

With one hand kneading each of her breasts in alternation, Caius raised his other hand and undid the knot that held most of her hair to the top of her head, letting it all fall down her back in beautiful grey-white locks that he wrapped around his fingers securing a tight hold of her head, holding her in place as he intensified their kiss.
