Death… And Me

Chapter 4435: I Just Know The Guy

Rean returned to their residence a while later. ”Seems like the guy needs some kind of permission or whatever.”

Roan nodded slightly, not looking the least bit surprised. ”That’s to be expected. There shouldn’t be many Elite Exploration Groups actively asking for missions themselves. The guild usually assigns them. As much as Conco probably isn’t aware of everything we have done so far, the guild headquarters, as well as Tobao and Arcis, must have told him to keep an eye on us.”

Rean shrugged. ”He definitely looked conflicted. I guess he didn’t know whether to reject us outright or ask someone above him first.”

Roan kept doing whatever he was doing, not paying much attention to the matter anymore. ”Just sit and wait. We will find out soon enough. If the request reached Headquarters, someone will contact us before long.”

It didn’t even take an hour before the twins’ group received a call from the Godly Subjugation Guild Master, Clasou.

-What were you two even thinking?- Clasou didn’t even bother greeting them first. -There is no way I can authorize such a suicidal mission. So what if you are Middle Stage Aura Gods now? That’s still far from enough to try such a thing. I’ll get your normal group assembled instead, especially since Harksha has had a breakthrough herself. She is a Late Stage Zone God now.-

’Oh! Is she?’ Rean smiled. ’I’ll have to congratulate her later. However, there is no need to do it. We can survive on our own outside. Since we asked for this kind of mission, we obviously are confident enough that we can make it there and return.’

-Did you hear anything I just said?- Clasou asked back, already sounding exhausted. -I’m not going to authorize it, period. And don’t think this is just me picking on you. Yes, you have quite some importance for the guild. However, I wouldn’t have authorized this mission for any other group in the same situation either. You’re simply asking for something that makes no sense from the guild’s point of view.-

Roan joined the conversation without the slightest change in expression.

’So be it... Seems like we will have to go out on our own. We will chart further into the Godly Creatures Territories and share everything we discover with the guild after we come back.’

-Wait, what?!- Clasou was taken aback. -You can’t do that!-

Roan shook his head in response.

’Of course we can. The only rule about leaving the Besgol Region is that we have to report our departure ahead of time to the Godly Subjugation Guild. After all, it might be seen as trying to avoid the obligatory missions the guild issues to the various cultivators of Besgol.’

He calmly continued.

’Well, there is no obligatory mission in sight for us at the moment, and you will find our departure report in the Guild Network later. Too bad we can’t avoid the taxes, but so be it.’

Rean smiled after hearing that.

’Well, you heard him. Have a good day, Senior Clasou.’

-Wait, wait, wait!- Clasou hurriedly called out before they could disconnect. -I... I’ll authorize the exploration, and I’ll even assign the mission to your group. However, I have one condition.-

Rean and Roan exchanged glances before focusing back on their RCs.

’Which is?’

-There has to be a Zone God accompanying you.-

’A babysitter?’ Roan narrowed his eyes.

-Call it whatever you like. I’ll arrange things so everything your group obtains during this mission belongs exclusively to you. This Zone God will only be there to save your hides if things get out of control. Nothing more.-

Kentucky, who was also connected to the call, couldn’t help but ask,

’But... would a Zone God even accept such a task? Wouldn’t the Zone Gods themselves consider this mission too risky because of the lack of members? The Elite Exploration Groups always have ten members. The only reason we don’t bring even more is because larger groups attract too many Godly Creatures.’

Rean agreed with Kentucky’s reasoning.

’Besides, is it even possible to convince one of them to go and receive absolutely nothing from the exploration? Most people wouldn’t willingly accept a mission where they shoulder all the risks while receiving none of the rewards.’

-Don’t worry,- Clasou sounded quite confident. -This babysitter position will come with a generous bonus from Headquarters once the mission is over. As for the lack of members...-

Clasou sighed before continuing.

-Tobao contacted me not long ago. He already told me that even though you are only Middle Stage Aura Gods, you are likely stronger than every other Aura God in the entire Besgol Region.-

In fact, it was Roan who contacted Tobao after their breakthrough and then their breakthrough into the Middle Stage to keep him updated. Tobao then passed the information to the few people who needed to know, Clasou naturally being one of them.

-Since that’s the case,- Clasou continued, -this small group of five members with a Zone God is probably stronger than most Elite Exploration Groups. Perhaps even stronger than all of them. At least, that’s Tobao’s opinion, and I have no reason to doubt his judgment.-

There was, however, a problem from the twins’ group’s point of view.

If they had a Zone God following them everywhere, they wouldn’t be able to use their true trump card freely. The Yin Yang Sanctuary alone would expose far too much, not to mention several other abilities they preferred to keep hidden for now.

’We would rather go alone anyway.’

-No can do.- Clasou immediately rejected the idea. -This is the absolute minimum I will accept. If you try to leave the Besgol Region by yourselves, I’ll personally stop you, even if there is technically nothing wrong with the rules. Through the Sacred Relic, I know where you are at all times.-

Clasou felt helpless. -Come on! It is as if you don’t understand your own importance!-

The Godly Pressure Array Rean created no longer existed in anyone’s memories, but every other contribution he had made to the Array Guild was still highly regarded. The newest airplanes released by the various companies had already incorporated many of Rean’s improvements.

Recently, Roan’s own pill recipes had also caused quite a stir inside the Alchemist Guild. Veteran alchemists were already studying his methods, and some had even begun adapting them into their own concoction techniques.

Whether they liked it or not, the twins had gradually built very high profiles throughout the Besgol Region.

Clasou wasn’t acting this way because he wanted to make things difficult for them. On the contrary, he genuinely believed they were simply too valuable to be allowed to gamble their lives recklessly.

Besides, he was one of the scant few who had heard directly from Tobao and Arcis that the twins’ aptitude wasn’t truly colorless.

The aptitude measurement methods simply couldn’t evaluate them.

So, what did they actually have?

They can use Intents before the Region God Realm...

They can fly before the Zone God Realm...

They have aptitudes that seemingly exceeded the limits of the measuring methods themselves...

How could Clasou simply stand by and allow such incredible prospects—future protectors of the Besgol Region—to march into what everyone else considered a suicide mission?

Roan obviously understood Clasou’s concerns, even if he found the whole situation extremely annoying.

’Since that’s your condition, then we have a condition of our own.’

-Very well. Tell me.-

Roan’s expression became a little more serious.

’Find someone who is willing to remain completely silent. Regardless of what happens out there, this person is never to reveal a single word after we return to Besgol. We also intend to test a few new things during this expedition, and those things aren’t ready to be made public yet.’

Clasou immediately became interested.

The twins’ group had already contributed so much to Besgol over the last few years, and now they were saying they had even more things in development. That definitely caught his attention.

-Someone who would keep his mouth shut even if the world was about to end...-

Clasou paused for a brief moment before a smile slowly appeared on his face.

-I think I know just the guy.-
