Death… And Me

Chapter 4070: It’s Time To Show That!

Glauco was fuming. ”Who do you think you are to talk to Zanbril like that? This is the Zentian Empire, chicken. What we say goes!”

Zanbril narrowed his eyes. He didn’t want to antagonize Rean and Kentucky, but he also couldn’t just ignore Kentucky’s behavior towards him. ”Glauco is correct. She is a liability now that we know she doesn’t have enough talent for cultivation. I already compromised by saying I will give her full support for cultivation while in the time-slowing formation.”

”Hmph! What compromise?” Kentucky snorted in response. ”You want her to cultivate there because it will also increase her life span, which will give you even more time outside.”

”True,” Zanbril didn’t deny that. ”But it doesn’t change the fact she would benefit greatly from it.”

Xixie finally decided to talk. ”I don’t want that! If we are truly going to get married, then be a man and make sure to protect your wife! Don’t come with an excuse for locking her down. I would rather just go back to Riquicious instead!”

Rean and the others were surprised. It didn’t seem like Xixie was going to talk, but she seemed to have found some courage in the end.

Zanbril thought for a moment, everyone looking at him. The way Xixie put her words also affected his pride. Zuey, on the side, still had his eyes closed and refused to intervene. Then, Zanbril looked at Kentucky. ”You intend to act as her advisor to the end, don’t you?”

Kentucky nodded with a confident expression. ”My own pride is on the line, so what do you think? The Great Kentucky will never let his girls down.”

’You did say you didn’t give a damn a while earlier when the topic about the slap came out, though,’ Rean’s voice reached the Minokawa’s mind.

Kentucky glared at him. ’Are you on my side at all?’

Rean shrugged. ’Have I ever been?’

’Fuck you!’ Kentucky cursed back. Of course, he knew Rean was just teasing him. Nonetheless, he wouldn’t step down now.

Zanbril didn’t hear their conversation, obviously. ”Alright, let’s do it like this. Kentucky, are you willing to fight for her right to be free to do as she wishes? Of course, she will still have to fulfill her duties as my wife and to the Zentian Empire like any other member, but she won’t be sealed.”

Kentucky looked at Xixie instead, who nodded. ”That was all I wanted from the start.”

At the same time, she talked to the Minokawa. ’Senior Kentucky, he seems to be confident. He said fight, but what kind of fight? He might be preparing a trap. You saw all the crazy tests he came up with.’

Kentucky didn’t mind. ’So be it. I would still have my fun. Besides, the tests he gave so far still had some semblance of fairness. If I lose...’

’If you lose, I want you to leave,’ Xixie cut in. ’You already did everything you could for me. I was supposed to be dead by now, after all. I won’t accept any extra interventions after this. I also have my own pride.’

Kentucky noticed the girl’s resolve. ’Fine.’

”It seems the two of you are okay with it,” Zanbril said.

Of course, Glauco wasn’t. ”Zanbril, you have no need to heed their wishes.”

”Enough!” Zanbril stopped him. ”At the end of the day, it was still I who brought out the collars, so I must show some degree of compromise as well.”

”So, what kind of challenge do you have for me?” Kentucky asked.

Zanbril faintly smiled. ”I already said it, didn’t I? Were you willing to fight for her? Well, that’s it. I want you to fight.”

”Fight... you?” Kentucky found it weird. ”I don’t want to be rude, but you truly have no chance against me. The difference in cultivation is too high.”

Zanbril’s mouth twitched. ”Of course not! Cultivation? Even if we were at the same level, I still don’t think I could do what you did. Do I look like an idiot? Just like Xixie, I’m also naming a representative, or advisor, in this case.”

”Oh!” Kentucky nodded. ”So, who will be the Divinity I have to step on?”

”Hmph! What Divinity?” Zanbril walked to Glauco’s side. ”Even a Semi-Celestial lost to you. So it is only fair that I get someone who can truly fight back. Glauco will be your opponent.”

Kentucky didn’t expect that. He did tell Xixie that Zanbril would keep some degree of fairness, but it seems like he was wrong. Zanbril wanted him to fight a Celestial! ”That’s ridiculous! I don’t have access to Celestial Energy nor Celestial Laws! You are setting me up to lose!”

Glauco was very happy to comply, though. ”Ha! So your resolve only amounted to that, right? Now, shut up and go away. You were not supposed to get involved in the matters of the Zentian Empire to start with.”

Everyone else agreed with Glauco, even the spectators and other princesses. So what if it wasn’t fair? What would he do against the Zentian Empire? Sure, that would be a boring ending, but no one was surprised.

’He is trying to bait you,’ Rean commented.

’Obviously,’ Kentucky agreed. ’Should I go for it?’

Roan’s voice echoed in Kentucky’s mind. ’We have no idea how we would fare against a real Celestial, even if he is only in the Initial Stage. Celestial Laws and Celestial Energy are no joke. Besides, it might be even worse if you actually can fight against one of those. It would put a target on our backs as everyone knows Rean, Celis, and I are just as strong as you are.’

Kentucky knew that. ’So, should I give up? I truly don’t feel like lowering my head. However, the final decision for these important moments always falls into your hands.’

Roan thought for a moment. He remembered Caladara, who could at any moment appear. She could tell everyone their identities were fake and they were actually balance breakers. Not to mention outsiders. On the other hand, an Initial Stage Celestial seemed a good opportunity to test their own limits before they depart to recover Hick’s body. ’Whatever. Just go for it. However, since you are taking him on, go all out. I want to gather as much information as possible from this battle.’

Rean didn’t expect that. ’Are you sure?’

’Yes,’ Roan nodded. ’I would actually fight myself, but I don’t think it would work to take Kentucky’s place at the moment.’

’I see...’ Rean didn’t complain. ’Kentucky, it is time to show that.’

Kentucky faintly smiled. ’I thought so too.’

Then, Kentucky stepped forward. ”I accept!”
