Death… And Me

Chapter 2894: Familiar Feel

Pain... that was the first thing that appeared on Reanʼs mind when he started to recover his consciousness. Almost as if by instinct, Rean tried to gather Light Element to heal the damage on his soul, but he was soon let down to find out he didnʼt have a single iota of Divine Origin Energy in his body.

ʼDonʼt waste your time,ʼ Roanʼs voice echoed in Reanʼs mind a second later. ʼWe have no Divine Energy. In fact, we donʼt even have Dantians anymore.ʼ

Rean jolted awake as the memories of his last moments flashed in his mind. The battle against Garisan, the statue with a Universe Ownerʼs power, the burning of their real souls and the unavoidable death. ʼWhat is happening here? We died, didnʼt we? We completely spent our entire Soul, so even reincarnation was completely out of the table.ʼ

Rean tried to look around, but all he could see was darkness. He tried to move, but he seemed to be locked in some kind of closed space.

As Rean did that, Roan shared with him what he knew. ʼI also have the exact same memories as you. I woke up just a few minutes ago and tried to do something. However, it doesnʼt seem like we are going anywhere anytime soon.ʼ

ʼRight! Letʼs just enter the Soul Gem Dimensional Realm fir-ʼ Yet, before Rean could even finish his words, he noticed that he couldnʼt feel the Soul Gem Dimensional Realm anymore. The only thing he noticed to still be there was the Control Orb, but it wasnʼt inside the Soul Gem Dimensional Realm. Instead, it floated in an extremely small spatial space that barely fitted the orb itself. Any cheap Spatial Ring would have many times more space than that. Roan, already expecting that, continued. ʼWe donʼt have the Soul Gem Dimensional Realm anymore. Also, donʼt even try to talk with Sister Orb. She is not answering. Or, to be more specific, I donʼt even know if Sister Orb is still inside the Control Orb anymore. We could feel her presence through our Soul Connection in the past, but now even she is gone.ʼ

Rean calmed down and tried to evaluate the situation. ʼIndeed, I canʼt feel Sister Orbʼs presence. Not only that, but I canʼt feel Kentucky or Celis either.ʼ

ʼYou know what it means, right?ʼ Roan asked, hoping Rean had the same idea.

Rean definitely knew it. ʼWe can feel everyone inside our connection as long as we are inside the same Universe. Is that what you want to say?ʼ

The connection between the twins, Sister Orb, Kentucky, and Celis was always there. In the past, leaving the specified connection range between them would lock most of the Soul Gem Systemʼs abilities. However, it didnʼt mean the connection disappeared. They could still feel it, although they couldnʼt do much as a result.

After they unified the Lisan Universe and got the Title of Universe Owners, the connection range limitation disappeared. As long as they were within the Lisan Universe, Rean, Roan, Celis, Sister Orb, and Kentucky could always access the Soul Gem Dimensional Realm and the twins always had access to all of the systemʼs abilities.

Yet, now they absolutely couldnʼt feel Sister Orb, Kentucky, or Celis. It was as if the connection had been completely severed. There are only two ways such a thing could have happened. The first one, obviously, is for Celis, Kentucky, and Sister Orb to disappear. For example, Kentucky and Celis might have died, or Sister Orbʼs sentience might have been destroyed.

However, neither Rean nor Roan believed that possibility. Before they died, they knew they had guaranteed their Lisan Universeʼs victory. Even if Garisan could go back to take revenge, that would take a very long time, and chances were that Garisan was forced to negotiate with Lisan for the Vassal Universe objective.

Since that was most likely the case, only the second option remained: They were not in the same Universe anymore. The only doubt was whether Rean and Roan left Lisan Universe or Kentucky, Sister Orb, and Celis left the Universe instead.

ʼThe chicken is too scared to think about something like leaving the Universe,ʼ Roan continued. ʼUnless he absolutely had no other choice, we can agree that the ones who left Lisan Universe were the both of us, and not them. As for death, thatʼs unlikely.ʼ

Rean pondered a bit while he continued to try to move. Too bad he had no strength to force his way out of wherever he was. ʼI know you said their deaths are unlikely... but how long has it been since we arrived in this place? Could it be that we have, in fact, been sleeping for a ridiculous amount of time or something like that?ʼ

Roan understood why Rean said that. ʼI understand your doubt. These bodies of ours... they are definitely not our original bodies. So I canʼt really tell you how long we have been unconscious.ʼ

Rean nodded. ʼExactly. Well, our previous bodies werenʼt our original bodies anyway. Those were our second bodies. Whatever, that matters little now. At least now I know I didnʼt have to die with you like we were some kind of big friends or some shit like that.ʼ

ʼFor that, Iʼm also happy,ʼ Roan couldnʼt agree more.

The two went silent for a moment when suddenly...

ʼHahahaha!ʼ Rean and Roan began to laugh out loud. Yes, even Roan couldnʼt help but do the same. Everything was supposed to be over, but they survived somehow. Whatever their situation was at the moment, it wasnʼt as important as avoiding the worst-case scenario of death.

After a few moments of relaxation, the twins calmed down.

ʼNow then, donʼt you think this feeling is quite familiar?ʼ Rean seemed to recall some moments in the past similar to this.

ʼYes,ʼ Roan totally agreed. ʼIt feels just like when we were inside Hamarliaʼs womb... but not quite the same.ʼ

ʼYes, it is slightly different,ʼ Rean agreed. ʼFor once, we are definitely not babies... or at least thatʼs what I can feel when touching my body. I canʼt see shit.ʼ

Without another choice, they could only wait and analyze the situation further.
