Death… And Me

Chapter 2773: The Blade

The tension diminished a little after Kentuckyʼs words. The Semi-Celestials didnʼt even care that Kentucky left straight away after saying his piece. They only looked around, seeing how the Grape Vortex kept absorbing the Universeʼs Laws, Energies, and Elements.

Gragatou sighed and put his weapon away. ”Vruves! For now, this is a truce, do you agree?”

Xude, Toval, and the other experts from the Vruves looked at Leadro. He held the highest authority in their group at the moment. Leandro didnʼt quite like how things turned out, but it was definitely the same on the other side. ”We accept.”

The Vruves still looked at Soul Gem with hostility, but they seemed to calm down and think about it later. ”How do we stop this thing, Soul Gem?”

Soul Gem smiled before waving his hand. Immediately, hundreds of thousands of little triangular-shaped objects appeared in the air. Each one of them seemed to give ripples of Spatial Power. But, above all, they all carried numerous Circuitry Formation Runes. ”Help me with these things. They will need a lot of energy in a while. Each person will be responsible for spreading them equally around the area that I will point out.”

Soul Gemʼs Divine Sense immediately reached the many Semi-Celestials, Divinity, and Space-Time Realm experts in there. Still, each expert only received a message regarding the area they would be responsible for. None of them had the full picture of what they were doing. No one took the items straight away, though. Instead, they all looked at their own realmsʼ Semi-Celestials, waiting to receive their confirmation.

Gragatou, Black Locust, Leandro, Himmel, etc... They exchanged several Divine Sense Messages between themselves before finally speaking. ”Soul Gem, what is this about?”

Soul Gem shrugged. ”This is what will get this thing destroyed. I canʼt explain it in detail since it would take months until you could understand the full picture.”

”Make a short and simple version of the overall objective, then,” Black Locust demanded. He wouldnʼt simply move out and do someone elseʼs bid for nothing. He wasnʼt the only one. The others also wanted to know what they would be doing.

”The short version? That is quite simple,” said Soul Gem as he pointed at the Grape Vortex. ”This giant thing might be working on its own, but it must also be able to be controlled somehow. There is no way our visitors outside would allow this thing to simply work forever since it would ultimately destroy even the Chaos Source itself.”

He continued. ”What I intend to do is very simple. These devices of mine will detect the signal used to monitor this Grape Vortex condition. If everything goes according to the plan, I should be able to change the Grape Vortexʼ commands and order it to self-destruct. At the very least, I expect to be able to force it to shut down.”

Rean and Romario narrowed their eyes. ”Is that truly possible? You would have to have some prior knowledge of the technology used to build this Grape Vortex. We can see it clearly. The intricacy of this construct is absolutely terrifying. There are bound to be many protections to stop such an invasion of its control system.”

”Isnʼt that obvious?” Soul Gem asked in response. ”Fortunately, I have the necessary knowledge. Now, stop asking questions and move like I said. Unless, of course, someone here has a better plan. Itʼs not like I can ask you to simply trust me anyway.”

”Fine!” Surprisingly, it was Leandro the first one to speak. Well, he might not like Soul Gem, but he definitely hated even more the idea of someone else taking the Chaos Origin Source away.

The others also decided to go for it and distributed the devices Soul Gem prepared. They positioned themselves according to Soul Gemʼs orders and spread the devices exactly as told. They all could spread their Divine Energy around far enough to reach each of those devices.

Of course, there were a few exceptions. Soul Gem was right when he said that they didnʼt simply trust him. That said, a few were sent further away from the Grape Vortex to observe at a safe distance in case something happened. The twins, obviously were part of this group.

Rean and Roan glanced at Soul Gem in the distance and used their Divine Senses to talk. ʼYou could have told us before, you know?ʼ

Soul Gem didnʼt look at them to not grab attention but still answered with his Divine Sense. ʼWould that have made any difference?ʼ

ʼYou canʼt know,ʼ Roan spoke. ʼPerhaps we could have used this secret of yours to prepare something regarding the Vruves.ʼ

ʼPerhaps indeed,ʼ Soul Gem didnʼt deny that. ʼHowever, I did what I believed was right. Besides, one thing should be obvious. I donʼt want this Universe to be destroyed.ʼ

Those words immediately raised an obvious question. ʼWhy?ʼ

Soul Gem seemed to grow emotional for a split second before he returned to normal. ʼI have my reasons.ʼ

The twins couldnʼt really force Soul Gem to speak, so they didnʼt insist. ʼFine. In any case, will this thing work?ʼ

ʼWho knows?ʼ Soul Gem spoke.

ʼAs I thought,ʼ Rean wasnʼt surprised with that answer. ʼThe degree of technology with Circuitry Formations of this Grape Vortex is just too high. Tell me the truth. Did you really have information regarding this thing before?ʼ

ʼI did,ʼ Surprisingly, Soul Gem confirmed. ʼAs to how I got information regarding the Grape Vortex... Well, you should be able to guess.ʼ

The twins were taken aback. They should be able to guess? That didnʼt make any sense.

ʼAlright, this should be enough!ʼ Suddenly, Soul Gemʼs voice echoed in everyoneʼs minds. In front of him, he had several other devices and screens that seemed to be connected to the little triangular-shaped items he distributed earlier. ʼBe ready to pour your Divine Energies into the devices. In exactly one hundred seconds, do it.ʼ

The order reached every expert, and they all prepared. The countdown continued, and only ten seconds remained. ”Ten seconds!”

”Hmph! As if I would let you.”

Suddenly, a blade pierced through space, catching everyone by surprise.

*Swish!*

Soul Gemʼs head flew off right after.
