Death… And Me

Chapter 1831: Another One

Rean and Roan looked at each other before Roan said, ”Itʼs not a bad idea to use the fragmentʼs power. I just didnʼt expect we could separate it from the fragment.”

Rean nodded, saying, ”I didnʼt know it would work either. However, these weird powers might have been something from the other fragment. In fact, even the Clenhest Stones might have gotten their weird anti-flight power because of the fragments.”

[I have to agree with Rean on that. I just know what the Clenhest Stone can do, but I donʼt know why it has this kind of power. Reanʼs probably right on that point.]

The twins then began to walk forward as the sharp stones continued to fly at tremendous speeds around them. However, not even a single one was flying towards their bodies as there was no pushing force there anymore. Of course, the twins didnʼt drop their guard and were ready to jump into the Dimensional Realm at any time in case this method didnʼt work anymore.

However, it was at this moment that the demon soul inside the altar finally decided to speak. ʼThis... isnʼt this power the same as the Universe Foundation?ʼ

One must remember that Rean and Roan captured the altar where the demon was locked inside many years ago. However, the demon soul didnʼt cooperate at all, so they sealed it somewhere inside the Soul Gem Dimensional Realm. In theory, it wasnʼt supposed to feel anything at all there.

Hearing that, Roan immediately asked back, ʼYou know about the broken Universe Foundation?ʼ

The demon soul noticed he had spoken too much. ʼForget what I said.ʼ

Rean laughed in response, replying, ʼHahaha! So youʼre still not willing to talk, huh? I thought you would have noticed that you canʼt escape by now, but you continue to be as stubborn as ever.ʼ

Due to how the twins sealed the demon soulʼs altar, it didnʼt know anything that had happened so far. It couldnʼt even tell that an entire sect was built inside the Dimensional Realm. Back then, the demon soul didnʼt think the twinsʼ Dimensional Realm would have the power to hold his soul for long, so he would be free eventually.

However, Reanʼs word hit where it hurt. It really hadnʼt even felt a slight change in the past decades, let alone sense his chance to escape. ʼHmph! I have waited countless years, so what do a few decades mean? I just didnʼt expect that you would get close to a Foundation Fragment.ʼ The reason it could feel the fragment now was basically because it was resonating with the other fragment inside the ruins. Otherwise, the demon soul would have been feeling nothing as always.

Roan pondered over it for a bit before saying, ʼWanna make a deal?ʼ

The demon soul was taken aback before he started to laugh out loud. ʼHahahahaha! Me? A deal with two ants like you? Why would I do such a thing? First of all, would you trust my words? Not even I would trust myself.ʼ

Roan faintly smiled in response, murmuring, ʼUnderworld Soul Forcing Link.ʼ

The demon soul instantly stopped laughing as shock filled his mind. ʼFirst, the Foundationʼs power, now the Soul Forcing Link... youʼre a demon, right? However, I felt your body and soul. Youʼre definitely a human. What is happening here? No, do you even know what the Soul Forcing Link does?ʼ

Rean was obviously puzzled, asking, ʼWhat are you two talking about?ʼ

Roan shrugged his shoulders, replying, ʼJust think of it as the Jamai Sect Oath. Once done, neither he nor I will be able to break our word. Itʼs just that itʼs a lot more brutal. Thatʼs because one side can use it to slowly take over the otherʼs soul. Itʼs a very dangerous thing for both sides. But at the same time, itʼs a guaranteed method to force someone to fulfill their part of the deal.ʼ

Rean then asked Roan alone, saying, ʼI can understand why you didnʼt offer him such a thing before. However, are you sure you want to do it? Youʼre still in the Transition Realm. Just how strong was this demonʼs cultivation before it was separated from its body? Besides, does it even work now that youʼre human? No, wait. First of all, you werenʼt a demon but a Death Spirit. Death Spirits are obviously several ranks below demons in the hierarchy.ʼ

Roan nodded, telling him, ʼI know, but I think I can deal with it. At the very least, I wonʼt be taken over.ʼ

ʼWhy?ʼ Rean asked back.

ʼBecause of the system,ʼ Roan answered. ʼDonʼt forget, it protects our souls. I wasnʼt very willing to rely on it before since there was no guarantee. However, Iʼm a lot more confident now in my own soul strength.ʼ

Rean sighed after hearing that. ʼSince you say so, I wonʼt stop you.ʼ

Meanwhile, on another side of the same ruin, Rlakux and company arrived at the force field. ”Sure enough, it is as Elder Krankax mentioned. The power of the Foundation Fragment is still present.” He then looked at Fratekla, the female demon. ”Itʼs now up to you, princess.”

Fratekla narrowed her eyes in response as she warned Rlankux, ”Call me that again, and see how I eat your soul during my next lunch. You just got a full belly, right? Iʼm sure itʼs very tender at the moment.”

Rlankux shrugged his shoulders with a smile in response but didnʼt say anything else. The other three demons with them then looked at each other. If anything, they wanted to see that happen so that they could watch the show. Yet, other than acquiring the fragment in these ruins, they also came here to protect Fratekla. They knew only death awaited them if they returned without her, and the same went for Rlankux.

Seeing that Rlankux closed his mouth, Fratekla snorted and then took out something that looked like a crystal ball from her Pocket Dimensional. It shone with both white and black light. However, if Rean and Roan were here, they would have definitely recognized the item inside it. After all, there was another fragment of the Universe Foundation there!
