I'm Trapped in the Block

Chapter 204: Chapter 202: Landing

The little boy nodded seriously, raised his toy gun, and pointed it into the distance.

Resilient sheets of candy flew from the barrel, vanished into thin air, and reappeared on the ground where the bubble was about to land.

That was the spot where the Vortex Turtle had been sealed, and also the original location of Oasis City. Now, only a dark, empty pit remained.

The sheets of candy on the ground rapidly expanded, pushing the earth aside. They grew thicker and larger, forming a thick ”cushion.”

The sesame seeds on the giant nougat were clearly visible, and its gelatinous interior perfectly met the demanding requirement of being ”both hard and soft.”

”It worked, Mom,” the boy said with a happy smile.

The woman smiled through her tears. ”Back when your dad and I used to argue, whenever I said I wanted some candy, he knew I wanted to make up.”

”Then he’d go buy some nougat, but when he brought it back, he’d be the only one eating it...”

The woman held the little boy, murmuring to herself, and her eyes began to redden again.

She quickly shook her head, forcing herself not to think about sad things.

Just then, a convoy of vehicles quickly surrounded the residential building, and squads of fully armed guards rushed upstairs.

The door to the rooftop was thrown open, and the woman quickly hugged the little boy tighter.

But after arriving on the rooftop, the guards said nothing. They just fanned out quickly, forming a protective circle around the mother and son.

A guard leading the team gave the woman an ”OK” sign, letting her know she could focus on the task at hand without worry.

The woman understood. She stroked the little boy’s head. ”Don’t be afraid. The uncles are here to protect us.”

The little boy, however, wasn’t scared at all. Instead, his eyes lit up as he stared at the real guns and equipment.

”Why are they protecting us?” he asked in a small voice.

Hearing his question, the woman thought for a moment before answering:

”Because people who protect others deserve to be protected.”

The little boy didn’t seem to understand, but he just nodded blankly, raised his toy gun again, and looked into the distance.

In that moment, he and the guards with their real guns were on the same side.

A few more pieces of candy shot out.

The little boy used milk candies to secure the enlarged nougat cushion.

Oasis City, wrapped in its bubble, was about to land. The ground was now faintly visible through the thin film of bubblegum.

The little boy’s small hand gripped the toy gun tightly. He closed one eye and aimed into the distance.

The woman was sweating nervously, but she did her best to keep her hands steady so as not to disturb the boy.

The guards had formed a tight perimeter around the entire building, letting no one through.

Perhaps compared to the little boy, the guards were even more nervous.

At this moment, the residents of Oasis City were all standing in the streets, silently watching that unremarkable residential building.

The ground grew closer and closer. The little boy fired a few more pieces of candy, seemingly adjusting the bubble’s horizontal position.

Then, with a dull THUD, everything stopped moving. The people of Oasis City felt the entire city smash onto a soft surface.

The bubblegum burst, and a tear appeared in the pink-wrapped sky.

But it wasn’t over. Now they had to slow the city’s forward momentum from the landing.

This was where the protruding sesame seeds came into play. They caught on the gummy bears at the city’s base.

The sticky gummy bears, in turn, acted as another buffer.

However, the nature of the gummy candy meant the city’s shaking would intensify.

But the little boy seemed to have considered this as well.

He pulled the trigger, and countless lollipops were fired to various points in the city. They then suddenly enlarged and plunged straight into the ground.

The lollipops, both large and small, were like nails, pinning Oasis City firmly to the nougat.

Right now, the people of Oasis City could only see enormous white pillars descending from the sky and plunging into the ground.

At the top of the pillars were massive, colorful spheres of indistinct shape.

Fine specks of candy dust fell from the spheres.

Under the sun, these specks of dust were like colorful gems, scattering across every inch of Oasis City.

Bathed in this rain of colorful candy, the people of Oasis City still dared not make a sound, afraid of disturbing the little boy on the rooftop.

Only after the little boy lowered his toy gun did someone, after a long pause, finally let out an irrepressible cheer.

That one cheer was like a spark, and the crowd’s suppressed emotions instantly erupted.

Seeing the crowd cheering with the joy of survival, the little boy also broke into a happy smile.

”I did it, Mom. I protected a lot of people.”

”Yes, you did...”

The woman’s arms, holding the little boy, were already getting numb, but unable to suppress her excitement, she nuzzled her forehead against his.

...

Watching this scene, Mo Ling, just like the watching crowd, finally felt relieved.

The weight on his heart landed safely along with Oasis City.

And as the mastermind behind it all, the Little Elf simply floated beside Mo Ling, watching the cheering crowd with satisfaction.

Its body had returned to its normal size, but its light was also noticeably dimmer.

”Your plan succeeded,” Mo Ling congratulated it. ”You protected Oasis City with wishes.”

”It wasn’t me. It was them.”

The Little Elf gazed at the distant crowd, then looked toward the little boy on the rooftop. ”The people of Oasis City protected their own home.”

It pointed to a guard still standing at his post on the rooftop. ”His wish was for all his brothers in the guard to be safe and sound.”

”Her wish was to be able to read by the roadside every day after work...” the Little Elf said, pointing to a Young Lady in the crowd who was staring blankly at the sky.

The Young Lady was standing at the edge of the crowd, catching the candy dust from the sky in her hands.

”But they’ve probably all forgotten by now. They might never remember.”

The Little Elf touched its own heart. ”Their wishes took effect, and that’s what protected Oasis City.”

It looked toward another spot in the crowd and said, ”Li Xiangyi’s wish was among them, too. She still wants to live a peaceful life in Oasis City as a human being.”

Mo Ling followed the Little Elf’s gaze and saw Li Xiangyi tightly gripping Li Luo’s hand, as if afraid of losing something.

Old Xu squeezed through the crowd and came up to Li Xiangyi and Li Luo, urgently asking if they were hurt.

”Where did you two run off to? How could you run around in a situation like that?” He was extremely anxious, but then he seemed to realize his tone was a bit harsh and quickly added reassuringly, ”As long as you’re okay, that’s all that matters. As long as you’re okay.”

”I couldn’t tell which way was which. I almost fell into a crack in the ground. Li Luo heard my voice and came to save me...” Li Xiangyi apologized profusely to them both.

Li Luo, however, was distractedly looking around, as if searching for any sign of Block.

But right now, Mo Ling wasn’t in his Block form.

He hadn’t changed back since the Vortex Turtle had slammed into him and turned him into a block-person.

’Does this mean I can move around freely from now on?’

Compared to being trapped inside the Block, Mo Ling much preferred this.

As he was thinking, the Little Elf suddenly flew in front of him and waved its small hands at him.

”What’s wrong?” Mo Ling asked worriedly, looking at the Little Elf’s increasingly dim light.

”The mirage energy is about to dissipate completely. I need to find my next body quickly,” the Little Elf’s voice said, sounding faint.

”Do you need my help finding one?” Mo Ling asked quickly, unsure how long his own current state would last.

”No need. I have one.”

The Little Elf reached out and pulled something familiar to Mo Ling from the golden light beside it.

It was a can of cola.
