Endless Evolution As A Skeleton In A Game-Like World

Ark immediately got to work, wiping sooth out of the chairs, scrubbing the smoke stains on the wall, and spraying air freshener to dampen the smell.

Thankfully, Cracker has restrained herself, there would have been no way to cover up a hole...

After about twenty five minutes, Ark stared at the spotless living room, appreciating his hand work. Of course, the center table was gone, but there was no way she would notice it right?

She had to be exhausted from work, her routine was usually to get back, take a shower, eat and then jump right into bed, so if he was lucky, that would be the case.

Cracker was almost done as well. All she needed were a few seconds at most.

Ark disposed of his cleaning tools and then walked towards the door that led to a narrow hallway.

In this hallway, there were three doors, one door at the end leading to his bedroom, the one at the middle was the door to the bathroom, and finally, the closest door to him was the door to Bronya and Cracker’s room.

From the day they entered into the tutorial, the academy sent their belongings back to their families. Ark was looking for his phone, most of the information that was important to new awakeners had likely been sent to his email already.

He needed to read through them, but that was not the only thing he wanted to see...

”Today is the day I get paid!”

Players were considered as assets by the government, so each Awakener was given a monthly allowance that could increase based on their accomplishments for that month.

He had just completed the tutorial, so he hadn’t exactly done anything spectacular yet, well... at least from their point of view.

But the money he was going to be paid was still substantial!

Ark rushed into his room and began searching, but after five minutes, his phone was nowhere to be found...

He froze. Just before he screamed at the top of his voice, ”CRACKER! Did you touch my phone?!”

A small squeak came from the kitchen

”...”

”A little...!”

”You—! I told you not to play with my Cod account!”

Cracker had a very bad habit of stealing his phone and playing ranked matches while he was asleep.

Just two hours of napping was more than enough to drop him down by two whole ranks.

Just what kind of damage would she have done now that she had three weeks?!

Ark felt his soul depart his body.

”Cracker!”

”I only play your account because you have so many pretty female characters! You’re a boy, why do you use female avatars?!”

”Stop trying to change the subject!”

Ark immediately rushed into Cracker’s room and grabbed his phone. He stared at the blank screen for a few seconds, before he clicked the button.

(Face ID Failed)

”Oh... I almost forgot about that...”

Ark tried to tap his password instead, but his hands just clacked against the screen without doing anything.

”Tch.” Once again, Ark called Cracker. She came into the room a few seconds later, looking at the floor the entire time.

”Help me unlock my phone...”

”Sure.”

She brought the phone to her face and the phone immediately unlocked. ’Huh? So she even went as far as adding her Face ID?’

Ark decided to keep quiet since she was the only way he could access his phone.

”Open my COD account...”

”Heh.” Cracker scratched her cheeks.

A few seconds passed in awkward silence.

”Look, you have a ton of... notifications... they must be important right? Yes, they must be very, very important!”

Her finger moved to click his email, but Ark grabbed her hand and began scrolling towards the game icon.

Cracker pushed back, stopping him. He had a strength point of 16, how was he getting overpowered by a little girl?

Just as they were struggling, a notification popped up on the screen.

Cracker blinked.

Ark’s mouth fell open.

Their sister, the sole bread winner of the family made about three thousand credits each month, and with a twenty percent tax rate, she only went home with around two thousand three hundred credits...

Player allowances were not taxable...

He would be earning even more than this each month. And player allowance made up a very minute part of a players overall income—

”We are rich!” Cracker immediately pounced on him.

”We? Who is we?” He grabbed her by her hand and pulled her up. ”Also, did you think that this is enough to make me forget what you have done?”

”Ehehe... we are going to buy ten boxes of crackers!”

Ark sighed, she wasn’t even listening to him any more...

Before he could scold her, the door to the room was pushed open, and a beautiful woman stepped in, her favourite headphones placed over her ears.

She was dressed in her regular business look. Pencil skirt with a slit, black tights, and a white dress shirt tucked into the skirt.

Her silky raven black hair was braided, and then tied up in two buns to prevent it from getting in the way of her work, and her icy blue eyes were wary.

Bronya...

”Where did that brat go? I told her to prepare dinner, and yet I find the pot spotless?”

She folded her hands into a fist. ”When I find her, I’ll give her a noogie so hard that it will bore a hole in her head.”

Cracker stiffened.

Since neither Ark nor her needed light to see, they hadn’t bothered to turn on the lights, so Bronya had not seen them yet.

But the moment she flicked on the light switch, she froze.

A skeleton was holding her little sister by the hand, and staring at her like she was the next item on her meal plan.

Well, at least that was how she must have seen it, because before Ark could explain, Bronya reached into her purse...

And pulled out a gun.
