The system notifications rang out one after another.

The graveyard beneath its feet visibly faded from dark brown, slowly turning into the same black stone ground as its surroundings.

The small, protruding burial mounds gradually flattened, and the aura of death quickly dissipated.

By the time Chu Sheng had absorbed every last bit of Energy from the graveyard, its Comprehension of the Death Emperor Domain had reached 9%.

’An 8% increase from one graveyard. Not bad.’

Chu Sheng did a quick mental calculation.

’At this rate, I only need to absorb twelve more graveyards to get the Death Emperor Domain to the Divine Domain Level.’

It glanced at the graveyard, which had now become ordinary land.

It flapped its wings, turned, and flew on toward the next target.

The reason it had split up with Gu Yuexi was precisely to find these Netherworld graveyards and absorb their Energy to increase its Comprehension of the Law of Death.

The fourteenth comprehensive evolution to advance to the Void Refinement Realm required 1,000 points of Divine Blood, 1,000 points of Divine Soul, and the consumption of 100 points of Divine Essence.

In addition, it also required two Laws to reach the Divine Domain Level.

Chu Sheng had already met the requirements for the first three stats.

All that remained was getting two Laws to the Divine Domain Level, which it had yet to complete.

Its Five Elements Law had already reached the Divine Domain Level back when it was on Blue Star.

As for the other Law,

Chu Sheng’s plan was to level up its Destruction Emperor Domain.

The Destruction Emperor Domain’s current Comprehension had already reached 88%.

It was just a tiny bit away from ascending to a Divine Domain.

But its accidental entry into a Netherworld channel, a place filled with graveyards containing the pure Law of Death, gave Chu Sheng a new idea.

Increasing the Comprehension of the Destruction Law was a matter of luck.

Here in the Netherworld channel, however, the Law of Death was everywhere.

Every graveyard contained a dense concentration of energy from the Law of Death.

This was a huge boon for a creature like it, which could absorb just about anything.

All Chu Sheng had to do was follow the channel.

After absorbing just a few more graveyards, it could easily raise the Law of Death to the Divine Domain Level.

This was much, much faster than slowly searching for a way to advance the Destruction Law.

Once the Law of Death reached the Divine Domain Level,

the requirement for two Divine Domain Level Laws would be fulfilled.

It could then immediately begin its fourteenth comprehensive evolution and raise its Realm to the Void Refinement Realm.

This was so much faster than going to a bar to drink with people and secretly absorbing their Laws.

It was also completely open and aboveboard, with no fear of being discovered.

It was obvious which option was better!

「For the better part of the next day.」

Chu Sheng flew onward, absorbing every graveyard it came across with incredible efficiency.

By the time it had finished absorbing the tenth graveyard,

that one, a higher-level graveyard, directly increased the Comprehension of its Death Emperor Domain by 15%.

This was more than any single graveyard it had absorbed before.

All told, the total Comprehension of its Death Emperor Domain had now reached 95%.

It was just one final push away from the Divine Domain Level.

Chu Sheng looked down at the graveyard it had just drained dry and silently analyzed the underlying pattern.

’The concentration of the Law of Death in each graveyard varies according to the strength of the Netherworld creature it resurrects. Consequently, the amount of Comprehension I can gain from each one is different, some higher, some lower.’

’Generally speaking, the farther away from the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Eye, the higher the level of the graveyard and the stronger the Netherworld creature inside, which means I can absorb more Law Comprehension for the Law of Death.’

It looked up, peering into the deeper reaches of the black fog ahead.

The aura of death there was even thicker, and it could faintly sense a more powerful presence lying dormant within.

’If I keep going, I’ll definitely reach the Netherworld proper.’

’But the journey is likely very long. I won’t be able to get there in a short amount of time.’

’Whatever. No need to overthink it. I’ll just find the next graveyard and grind my Law of Death to the Divine Domain Level first.’

Chu Sheng activated its [Eye of God], and its field of vision expanded in an instant.

It began to search the surrounding Space, looking for the location of the next graveyard.

But it searched a full circle, pushing the range of the Eye of God to its limit, and still couldn’t find a trace of a new graveyard.

The surroundings were empty, with only black stone and swirling black fog.

’Did I absorb them all already?’

’No, that can’t be right. It’s impossible that there were only a few.’

Chu Sheng was puzzled.

It carefully recalled the distribution of the graveyards it had discovered earlier.

Soon, it discovered a pattern it had previously overlooked.

The closer they were to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Eye, the more densely the graveyards were distributed and the shorter the distance between them.

The farther away, the longer the intervals between graveyards, with each one more distant than the last.

It seemed illogical.

But if one thought about it from the Netherworld’s point of view, it made perfect sense.

Creating these graveyards and stationing forces required the Netherworld to expend a great deal of resources and Death Energy.

They couldn’t just place as many as they wanted.

Therefore, the closer they were to the exit, the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Eye,

the more graveyards they placed and the more troops they stationed.

This would make it easier to attack the Spirit Realm in the future, allowing for faster mobilization of troops.

Conversely,

the farther from the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Eye and the closer to the Netherworld, the fewer troops were needed.

Naturally, this meant they spaced the graveyards farther apart and created fewer of them.

As for the graveyard it had just absorbed,

Chu Sheng had only managed to find it by pushing the range of its Eye of God to the maximum.

So, it made sense that it couldn’t find a new graveyard within the current range of its Eye of God.

The next graveyard was even farther away, beyond its current field of view.

With a thought, Chu Sheng opened its skill panel and focused on [Eye of God].

This Skill had evolved from [Chaos True Sight].

Its level had reset from MAX to LV1, which meant it had to be leveled up all over again.

Therefore, if it just raised the Skill Level of [Eye of God],

it could expand its search range, see farther, and find the graveyards in the deeper regions.

”System, raise the Skill Level of [Eye of God].”

Chu Sheng issued the command directly.

[Ding! Consumed 20 Divine Essence. Eye of God LV1 has been upgraded to Eye of God LV2.]

Chu Sheng checked its Divine Essence balance. With over four thousand points remaining, it had plenty.

”System, keep upgrading. Don’t stop. Max it out.”

[Ding! Consumed 30 Divine Essence. Eye of God LV2 has been upgraded to Eye of God LV3.]

[Ding! Consumed 40 Divine Essence. Eye of God LV3 has been upgraded to Eye of God LV4.]

[...]

System notifications rang out one after another. Its Divine Essence was consumed bit by bit, and the Skill Level increased steadily.

[Ding! Consumed 100 Divine Essence. Eye of God LV9 has been upgraded to Eye of God LV10.]

[Ding! The Skill Level for Eye of God has reached the Host’s current Cultivation cap. Please raise your Realm before attempting to upgrade the Skill Level further.]

’Hit the cap again.’

Chu Sheng shook its head in resignation.

’These Realm restrictions are such a hassle. I can’t even max out my Skills.’

’I hope a Level 10 Eye of God won’t disappoint me.’

It activated [Eye of God] again, and its field of vision expanded dramatically.

This time, its detection range was several times larger than before.

It could reach far into the depths of the black fog, allowing it to clearly perceive even the faintest auras from that distance.

Chu Sheng controlled its vision, rapidly scanning the surroundings for any trace of a graveyard.

Before long,

it found a new Netherworld graveyard far to the northeast.

Its Death Energy was dense, and it was of a higher level than the one it had just absorbed.

’Found it.’

Chu Sheng’s compound eyes lit up. Looking at the newly discovered Netherworld graveyard, it made a quick calculation.

’This graveyard’s Energy concentration is higher, and the Law of Death it contains is purer.’

’After I finish absorbing it, my Law Comprehension for the Law of Death will definitely break through 100%, and it will smoothly ascend to a Divine Domain.’

’At that point, once I’ve gathered two Divine Domain Level Laws, I can undergo the fourteenth comprehensive evolution.’
