The Almighty Ring

Jiang Fei paid no attention to how the Luminous Church took care of the aftermath. He had planted the seed and all he needed to do was wait for the right moment. He had done nothing this far and had gained epic loot just by following the questline.

The system alert popped up to remind Jiang Fei that the server closing time was coming close. At that moment, Jiang Fei felt happy and rather satisfied. That day’s gaming session had been jammed packed with excitement. At the start of the day, he had joined a five-man party to attack a few thousand players from another guild and raided their storage unit. Later that day, he had even managed to cheat three Lord tier NPCs of their precious treasure. At the end of the day, he was able to save a Satyr spy and watch a battle between Overlords and even got away with more loot.

It was an extremely satisfying day for Jiang Fei. After he found a safe spot, Jiang Fei descended to the ground, unsummoned the dragon, and logged out of the game.

…

After breakfast, Jiang Fei routinely went to school. Because of his incredible, undetectable cheating ability, Jiang Fei had completely decided to skip all his homework and paying attention to class. The reason he was only attending school was to have his parents not worry about him.

After enduring the boredom that was school, Jiang Fei started to head back home. That was when he saw Han Tianyu inside his car waiting for him.

“Brother! No time to explain! Get in the car!” said Han Tianyu after he rolled down the window.

“What now?” said Jiang Fei. Only when something crazy happened did Han Tianyu come to him automatically.

“Hey now, it’s not about me!” said Han Tianyu after having a good laugh. When Jiang Fei got into the car, he turned and said, “Old man Hai wanted to talk to you directly. Don’t worry, it’s something good.”

“Oh, now that explains everything,” said Jiang Fei. There was no need to play the guessing game. It was surely regarding the recent mission where he defeated the Tokugawa ninjas! He had single handedly defeated two famous Jounins and even helped Luo Zhan and the others catch a Jounin alive! That mission must have earned Jiang Fei a good amount of contribution points and Old man Hai probably wanted to reward Jiang Fei for his deeds.

It must not be an urgent call since Han Tianyu did not rush to see Jiang Fei with a helicopter or some other kind of outrageous vehicle. He had come in a powerful sport car, and after a good speed run, Han Tianyu and Jiang Fei arrived at the Hidden Dragon Village.

Once the car had entered the entrance of the village, Jiang Fei was welcomed in a manner that he had never experienced before.

“Haha! Brother Jiang Fei has arrived!” cried Old man Hai as well as two other old men.

Everyone greeted Jiang Fei with the utmost respect. Even the way they addressed him was different from before. Previously, they had only referred to Jiang Fei as little one or Little Fei, the generic prefix to declare one’s position. This time, they had referred to Jiang Fei as one of their own.

It was inevitable. The report from Luo Zhan was extremely surprising. The older master had always known that Jiang Fei was strong but was a complete greenhorn when it comes to battle experience. However, they had gravely underestimated Jiang Fei’s talents even after he had killed Tokugawa Nara and his apprentice. He had displayed a jaw-dropping performance while capturing Matsuda Yoshino in front of everyone.

After the report was read and processed, Jiang Fei was now known to have the combat prowess of an elite Level 4 Martial Artist! As such, they knew well enough to rank Jiang Fei the same tier as the three elder masters in the alliance.

“What’s the occasion? Why did you want to see me, Old man Hai?” asked Jiang Fei, pretending to be oblivious to what was happening. Although it was obviously for him to receive a reward, it was best to be humble in front of the elder masters.

“Brother! Don’t worry about anything. I know that you have a deep secret that you must keep to yourself. Rest assured that we all help you keep that secret. In the future, if powerful forces come, they would be the ones that will be defeated!” said Old Luo.

“Hohoho…” Jiang Fei could only laugh like an idiot. At this point, Jiang Fei had a knack for playing a fool in front of the others. When the time came, and Jiang Fei unleashed the full power of his own, that was when he would say, “I didn’t say anything about me being weak! It was you who was making assumptions!”

“Well done, young lad. You are extremely strong to be able to confront and defeat the ninjas of the Tokugawa family!” Old Yang laughed as he praised Jiang Fei. Yang Feng must have informed his uncle about Jiang Fei’s performance during the fight.

“Alright. Based on the rules and conduct of the alliance, during any mission, 1,000 points will be granted if an enemy of Level 3 is defeated. Capturing an enemy alive would entail a reward of 2,000 points. Brother, you have defeated two Jounins and even helped in capturing one, hence, we have decided to reward you with a total of 4,000 contribution points!” said Old man Hai.

“Oh! That’s nice. Thank you!” said Jiang Fei. To be fair, he had merely taken advantage of the situation. Capturing Matsuda Yoshino was not even a fair game for him. All he did was scare the bejesus out of him and made the man drop the detonator. The rest of the capturing attempt was conducting by Luo Zhan and Yang Feng. It was obvious that the elders were giving him face by rewarding Jiang Fei with so many contribution points.

“You are most welcome! You deserve it! Ho ho ho…” the Old man Hai laughed.

“What does one do with contribution points? What could I trade for them? How do I trade?” Jiang Fei had many questions. It was the only reason Jiang Fei joined the alliance after all. If he could, Jiang Fei wanted a list of all the items that he could trade with the contribution points. If he had not enough points, Jiang Fei could simply have 0541 produce more potions and trade them with the alliance. He had already acquired the R&D Lab, so producing potions was ever so easy for him.

“Good question. Please talk to Old Yang later on,” said Old Hai.

As far as what the elders thought of Jiang Fei, they would be happy if Jiang Fei gained an interest in the alliance resources. If Jiang Fei had a need from the alliance, the alliance would be willing to trade something with Jiang Fei. In this case, that would be his skills. If Jiang Fei had nothing that attracted him, it would be hard to have Jiang Fei remain active in the alliance.

The China Martial Arts Alliance was extremely efficient in conducting matters. As such, Old Yang had come to Jiang Fei with a tablet.

“Huh?” Jiang Fei was a little surprised to receive a modern day tablet.

“What’s wrong? What do you think we write things on? Wooden scrolls with brush and ink? We may be martial artists that practice the old martial arts, but we are not cavemen! Who would want to stick with such an old tradition when you have modern technology,” said Old Yang with a scoff.

“Haha… Sorry about that.” Jiang Fei snickered away. Since young, Jiang Fei had only known about Inner Qi, Kung Fu, and other Wu Xia, Xian Xia stuff through novels and television shows. Unconsciously, he had always thought that those who practiced martial arts would stick to their old traditions. Seeing them using smartphones and tablets was a little unnatural.

Jiang Fei took the tablet from Old Yang and scrolled through the list of the items that he could trade for. There were mainly a list of rare herbs and a few metal and minerals. Naturally, there were also weapons and defensive equipment. There were also those that could be used in fights like nunchucks, gloves, and others just like it. Not to forget, technology items which included modern weaponry that obviously came from Manda Group. If Jiang Fei wanted any of those, he could always go straight to Han Tianyu instead of trading them with the Alliance.

“0541, please tell me what the second restoration requires.”

Jiang Fei mentally summoned 0541 and questioned it about the materials needed for further restoration of the ring. Now that he could ask for specific materials, he did not want to waste the chance and time to gather materials.
