”Let go of me, Varon! I can’t stand it! How dare he look at us after everything he’s done! I’ll kill this murderer!”

Sexes was fuming with anger, and he desperately wanted to break free so he could attack Jason, but Varon refused to let go, and he pulled Sexes back forcefully! Varon looked to his left, where he could see one of the Faceless Keepers watching them from within the shadows, and Varon quickly pushed Sexes back to his chair and put his hand around his shoulder to keep him seated!

”Let go of me!”

Sexes shouted angily, but Varon just held on tighter as he seethed at Sexes!

”Shut up and stay down! I won’t watch you get killed here because of this foolishness! Stand down right now!”

Sexes tried to fight against Varon for a few more seconds, but there was nothing Sexes could do because Varon was stronger than him, and Varon was able to easily make sure Sexes stayed down! After a few seconds, Sexes finally had to stop fighting, and he simply grabbed Varon’s cloak in a fist as he grit his teeth! Sexes’ eyes were squeezed shut, and he was trying his best not to allow any tears to fall as he remembered what had happened to their people! Varon just held his comrade securely, and he finally glanced towards where he had seen the Faceless Keeper. Thankfully, the keeper had already vanished, and Varon let out a deep breath as he looked up at Jason. Jason was still standing beside them and watching with that same impassive look in his eye, and Varon spat out his next words with a deep sneer.

”What the fuck do you want, you monster? You want to stand there and gloat about your crimes? Go ahead and gloat as much as you want. We won’t fall for your petty schemes.”

Jason hummed calmly at Varon’s words, and Jason sent a mental message to the Phantom in the shadows and told it to stand down. There were already five assassins surrounding Sexes, and they would have taken Sexes down immediately if he tried to take a step towards Jason! And Jason knew that he would not have gotten into any trouble even if he killed Sexes because Sexes would have been the one to attack him first! Varon had literally saved Sexes’ life by holding him back!

Jason knew that he hadn’t really played a large part in the Machina massacre, and most of the killings were done by his Alter Ego along with Gillian, but even though Jason wasn’t responsible for the massacre, that doesn’t mean Jason cared about the Machina that had died! The Machina had declared themselves as his enemies the moment they sent their armies after him, and Jason was not the sort of person to feel any sympathy for his enemies! Although Jason was sure that if he had been in control of his own body, he would’ve spared the lives of the citizens along with the children, but Jason hadn’t been in charge of his own body, so those things had been out of Jason’s control! At least the Machina should be happy that Jason managed to spare the lives of their children!

Jason turned away from the two Machina nonchalantly, and he started heading towards the elevated stage at the center of the hall! The high seats surrounding the stage were all empty, and Jason could hear the people behind him moving towards the spectators’ area as they got ready for the trial to begin. Gina took Jason’s hand and squeezed it tightly, and Jason just gave her a small grin before he turned as a loud official voice echoed through the hall.

[We ask everyone present to please take their seats. The Meeting of the Council of Nine and One is about to begin.]

The gathered creatures all quickly moved to their seats in the spectators’ area, and everyone made sure to avoid going close to the part of the sitting gallery where the Bengari women were staying! Jason had one hand in his pocket, and he held Gina’s hand with his other one as he waited for the council to show up. The official voice that had echoed throughout the room waited until it was sure that the spectators were seated and there was no more noise in the room before it began to announce the various council members.

[The Great Council of Nine and One shall now convene for the proceedings. The tenth seat of the council, T’arigan, sovereign of the Dwarven race of Foragen. The ninth seat, King Kalum, ruler of Getrine. The eighth seat, Queen Lamina, ruler of the Vympire race of Nox. The seventh seat, Queen Hesabeth, ruler of the Minori. The fifth seat, Val’kat the Conqueror, ruler of the goblin race of Yemen. The fourth seat, Baron Skarr, ruler of the Draconian race of Vulcan. The third seat, King Falum, ruler of the Elven race of Arandelle. The second seat, Queen Rak’hael, ruler of the Angelic race of Eden. And finally, the highest authority in the known world, and the Overlord presiding over the council, the Great Celestial of Order, C’thlyanu.]

As the voice called them out, the various council members walked out from magical circles that appeared on their high seats, and they took their seats while looking down at Jason and Gina! As the council members appeared, Jason and Gina both glanced towards Hesabeth. Gina smiled at the prideful Queen, and Hesabeth unfurled her fan and used it to cover her mouth so that no one would be able to see her smiling back. Jason’s eyes travelled towards the empty sixth seat, and Jason felt a vindictive smile appear on his face! But Jason had to turn back to the rest of the council as C’thlyanu spoke up.

”Jason Marc, I believe this might be a new record for the most times anyone has appeared before the council in such a short amount of time. You’ve made quite a name for yourself over the past few months.”

The strange mass of purple gas floated gently on its throne as it spoke to Jason, and Jason didn’t bother to respond as he simply waited for them to get this over with! C’thlyanu realised that Jason wasn’t in the mood for conversation, and he finally spoke up once again.

”Very well, as the presiding council member, I declare this trial to be open.”

The loud official voice from before echoed through the Hall once again.

[The case of Jason Marc from the designated world PDM-235213-Alpha, also known as Earth, accompanied by Gina Fey, also from the aforementioned world, versus the Primordial State shall now begin.]

”Does your partner need to be here with you? The crimes stated thus are of no concern to her since they all involve you alone.”

Jason turned as he heard one of the council members speaking up. It was a regal-looking dragonborn with black scales on his neck and cheek, and a long tail and dragon wings, and Jason recognized him as Baron Skarr, the leader of the Draconian race of Vulcan. Hesabeth clicked her tongue from the side, and she regarded Baron Skarr with an irritated glance as she said.

”How does her presence affect you in any way? Perhaps you should focus more on the trial rather than such baseless complaints.”

”I am simply stating what is right. This trial is to determine the gravity of punishment necessary for Jason Marc’s actions. I do not think Gina Fey’s presence here is required.”

Hesbeth was about to say something more, but Jason suddenly spoke up in a calm, authoritative voice.

”She stays.”

It was only two words, but Jason spoke them with such conviction and absoluteness that many of the council members actually blinked in shock!
