”Dead, you say?”

Cedric hurriedly stood up, and the calm expression on his face vanished completely.

”What happened? How could they be dead?”

The man who had delivered the news explained what had happened in Virella three days ago.

Cedric’s expression grew even more somber as he listened.

”So, you mean Elina already knew about my plan?”

”Y-Yes, Your Highness!” the man replied, gritting his teeth. ”Otherwise, it would be impossible for so many powerful figures to be stationed there. I’m certain she’s already figured it out!”

Cedric fell silent, his brow deeply furrowed.

He had underestimated Elina. A fatal mistake.

However, when he noticed the sack beside the man, his expression quickly calmed.

”I understand. This grudge cannot go unavenged.”

A cold glint flashed in his eyes.

”However, we must set this matter aside for now. Acting now would only backfire on me and all of you.”

”Your Highness is wise!” the five men replied in unison.

”You may go.”

Whoosh!

The five men vanished.

Margaretta walked over to the sack and opened it.

Velissa’s unconscious figure came into view.

She gave a faint smile before turning to Cedric.

”The target was correct. She is the Velissa I saw in my previous vision of the future.”

”Good.”

Cedric nodded with satisfaction, a sly smile spreading across his face.

”Elina must be very anxious right now. I wonder what she’ll do next…”

He chuckled softly.

”Hehehe…”

…

Inside his simple wooden house, the Crescent Moon Swordsman sat quietly, sipping his tea.

His sharp gaze, the kind that had once made even his enemies tremble, now looked tired.

”Will they be able to find her?”

He didn’t doubt Cedric’s abilities, nor did he doubt Elina’s. Both of them possessed extraordinary power.

It was just that… he wasn’t entirely sure they could find his granddaughter. After all, it had already been twenty years.

The information available to them was extremely limited, and the chances of finding her were slim.

But now, all he could do was place his hopes in one of them.

As he was lost in thought, a knock came from outside.

”Crescent Moon Swordsman, it’s me, Elina Lorian. May I come in?”

…

Cedric’s group made their way through the dense forest. Snow was falling heavily, covering the only trail that led to their destination.

As a result, they had a hard time finding the Crescent Moon Swordsman’s wooden house.

Fortunately, Cedric still remembered the way, so they managed to find it without getting lost.

But as soon as they arrived, they were surprised by what they saw.

Elina was standing there with the Crescent Moon Swordsman.

Dozens of soldiers in iron armor stood behind them in orderly ranks.

”What on earth is going on? Why is Elina here? And what’s with all those soldiers?”

Cedric’s wariness immediately reached its peak.

If he were to go by common sense, Elina shouldn’t have been here. After all, she had failed to bring Velissa back as promised.

But that wasn’t the case. She was here.

”Don’t worry. Maybe she just wants to provoke you.”

Margaretta’s soft, soothing voice managed to ease Cedric’s anxiety.

”You’re right. Thank you.”

Margaretta smiled, then gently took Cedric’s right hand and pulled him forward.

”Good afternoon, Crescent Moon Swordsman,” Cedric greeted respectfully.

Margaretta and the soldiers behind her followed suit.

The Crescent Moon Swordsman merely nodded in response.

”What about my request? Have you fulfilled it?”

Cedric clasped his hands together and replied respectfully, ”I have, Swordsman. But before that…”

He glanced indifferently at Elina.

”I’d like to ask you one thing. Why is she here? I’d like you to explain it to me.”

The Crescent Moon Swordsman narrowed his eyes.

”Whether Her Highness the Princess is here or not, I’m sure it has nothing to do with you, Prince Cedric.”

”Of course it has something to do with me!” Cedric snapped instinctively.

Cedric was startled by his own reaction. He quickly regained his composure before speaking in a more controlled voice.

”I mean, Elina and I have been competing to fulfill your request. And now I’ve won. So why is she even here?”

The Crescent Moon Swordsman snorted coldly.

”Whatever her reason, it doesn’t matter. If I want her here, then nothing can stop it.”

His arrogant response made Cedric’s chest tighten. He was furious, but he quickly forced himself to calm down.

”I understand.”

He took a deep breath and slowly exhaled.

”Since that’s what you want, I won’t say anything.”

As it happened, this could be the perfect opportunity to humiliate Elina.

Cedric clapped his hands once, and several soldiers behind him lowered the black litter they had been carrying.

”Miss Velissa, please step out,” Cedric said with a meaningful smile.

The curtain of the litter slowly opened, revealing the beautiful figure of Velissa in a green gown.

Elina’s expression turned cold as she clenched both fists tightly.

Cedric naturally sensed her frustration and laughed mockingly.

”What a pity, Elina. You lost this game. I’m the winner… hahaha!”

Velissa walked toward Cedric, but her gaze soon met Elina’s.

She quickly lowered her head, embarrassed and… afraid.

The Crescent Moon Swordsman slowly walked toward her, his steps trembling.

His aged face was filled with longing and sorrow that he could barely hide.

”N-Nora…”

He reached out with his right hand and gently stroked Velissa’s face.

”It really is you, my granddaughter…”

Tears welled up in the corners of his eyes before slowly rolling down his cheeks.

Nora was Velissa’s real name. He had given her that name himself because, when she was at the orphanage, Velissa didn’t have a name.

After more than twenty years, he had finally been reunited with his beloved granddaughter.

A mixture of relief, sadness, and happiness overwhelmed him, leaving him at a loss for words.

Seeing the touching reunion between the grandfather and granddaughter, Cedric smiled to himself before playfully glancing at Elina, who still looked gloomy.

”Crescent Moon Swordsman, I’ve fulfilled your request. Isn’t it time for you to fulfill your promise?”

The Crescent Moon Swordsman snapped out of his emotional state and quickly regained his composure as he looked at Cedric.

”You’re right, Your Highness.”

Cedric’s smile widened. But before he could say another word, the Crescent Moon Swordsman’s next words hit him like a hammer.

”That’s why I’m going to grant Princess Elina’s request.”
