The Hidden Extra: The Lazy Prince Refuses to Ascend The Throne

Bang!

Gulvar slammed both fists onto the armrests of his throne and roared, ”How dare you be so insolent, Karakh! Aren’t you afraid I’ll throw you in prison?”

It was the first time he had ever shown such overwhelming fury.

But Karakh didn’t flinch. Wearing a casual smile, he replied, ”Go ahead, Father. I’d like to see you try.”

”You…” Gulvar gritted his teeth. ”Very well… very well indeed! I don’t know where your confidence comes from, but tonight, I’ll show you what happens to those who dare defy me!”

He rose to his feet and shouted, ”Guards!”

Five soldiers immediately stepped forward from the right side of the throne room. They bowed respectfully and answered, ”What are your orders, Your Majesty?”

Gulvar pointed at Karakh and commanded coldly, ”Take Prince Karakh away! Throw him into the underground prison so he can learn his lesson!”

Strangely, the soldiers only lowered their heads in silence, showing no intention of moving.

Seeing their reaction, Gulvar’s anger flared even hotter. He clenched his fists and bellowed, ”Why are you standing there!? Carry out my order at once!”

Still, none of them moved, leaving Gulvar confused and unsettled.

”Hahaha!”

A burst of laughter came from in front of him. Gulvar turned—and saw Karakh laughing openly.

A chill crawled up Gulvar’s spine as he demanded, ”What is the meaning of this, Karakh!?”

Karakh wiped a tear from the corner of his eye and shook his head.

”Father…” he said with a mocking smile. ”I truly didn’t expect you to be this stupid. How did I only realize it now?”

The mockery struck Gulvar like a knife to the heart. He was about to lash out, but Karakh’s next words sent a chill crawling down his spine.

”Haven’t you realized it all this time? Fine. Then I’ll explain.”

Karakh stepped forward, lifted his chin, and spread his arms wide.

”Father—no… Gulvar Lyren. From the very beginning, you’ve been rigid and narrow-minded. You lack vision. Don’t you see your own flaws?”

Gulvar stood frozen. But before he could speak, Karakh cut him off.

”Father—no… Gulvar Lyren. From the very beginning, you’ve been rigid and narrow-minded. You lack vision. Don’t you see your own flaws?”

Gulvar stood frozen. But before he could speak, Karakh cut him off.

”You’ve always believed you’re superior. You look down on everyone else.” His voice turned cold. ”Frankly, it’s disgusting.”

Contempt twisted Karakh’s expression.

”You’re the reason this kingdom can’t reclaim the greatness it once had. And yet you place your hopes on Aldrian—an incompetent fool who does nothing but flatter Seira Lorian? Your ambition is laughable, Gulvar Lyren!”

His face flushed with anger as he pointed at Gulvar without the slightest fear.

”Do you even understand how kingdoms rise? They rise because of great leaders!” Karakh’s voice thundered. ”But you… you appointed Aldrian as crown prince, stirring resentment among the high officials. You’re selfish. You’re stubborn. You eliminate anyone who dares oppose you—even when they have the talent to strengthen the kingdom and push it forward!”

He knew the legend of the Void Reaver Disc—an ancient tale of a weapon from the past, said to have been the very reason for the founding of the Ancient Kingdom of Eron.

It was also said that the Void Reaver Disc would one day reappear with a new master, and that person would become the key to the kingdom’s future awakening.

Many believed such nonsense. But Karakh didn’t.

To him, the kingdom’s revival could only be achieved by filling the palace with capable individuals.

Most importantly, a true leader had to be ruthless when necessary, decisive in action, and wise enough to accept advice from others.

Unfortunately, in the eight generations since the fall of the Ancient Kingdom of Eron, not a single king had possessed such vision.

Most of them were naïve and short-sighted, placing their hopes in that so-called prophecy instead.

That was exactly why Karakh wanted to put an end to such foolishness. He wanted to become the kind of king who could elevate the kingdom to heights never before seen in history.

”Karakh!” Gulvar could endure no longer and thundered, ”You’ve gone too far! Insulting the king is punishable by death! Soldiers—arrest him at once!”

But the soldiers didn’t move. Their faces remained expressionless, as if Gulvar’s command meant nothing to them.

The sight sent a wave of terror through Gulvar’s chest.

”Why?” Karakh asked with a playful smile. ”Surprised?”

Gulvar turned back to face him. His mouth opened and closed in fear.

”You… what have you done?”

Karakh clasped his hands behind his back and said calmly, ”Father, you’re not fit to be king. The people—and the noble families—are sick of your rule. So you’d better step down.”

After saying that, he glanced at the soldiers and gave a slight nod.

The soldiers immediately strode toward Gulvar, who was still standing before the throne.

Panic seized Gulvar, and he stumbled back a few steps.

”W-What are you trying to do!?” he demanded, his voice trembling.

But the soldiers ignored him completely. Two of them seized him from the left and right and dragged him down from the throne.

”Let me go!” Gulvar shouted with all his strength, but their grip didn’t loosen in the slightest.

Under Gulvar’s desperate gaze, Karakh stepped forward and ascended the stairs toward the throne.

He studied the king’s seat for a moment, then smiled faintly.

Then he turned, looked down at the pitiful Gulvar, and shifted his gaze toward the ministers below.

”Everyone,” he called out calmly. ”From this day forward, I, Karakh Lyren, will take my father’s place as king of the Ancient Kingdom of Eron. I swear to lead this kingdom into a new era!”

Thud!

He sat upon the throne, and the soldiers and ministers immediately dropped to their knees.

”Congratulations on your ascension, Your Majesty!”

”Congratulations on your ascension, Your Majesty!”

Their voices echoed throughout the throne room.

Gulvar could only stare in disbelief at the scene unfolding before him.

He had believed it was impossible for his authority to crumble—whether eight days ago or even now. But he was wrong.

His second son, Karakh, had laid a trap and carefully orchestrated his downfall.

Gulvar didn’t know how the kid had done it. But one thing was certain—he had lost everything.

”What do you think?”

Nolan glanced at Alina, who stood frozen in place.

Alina stared through the slightly opened throne room door, her mind completely blank. Her face was pale, and her breathing was so faint it was almost inaudible.

”Brother Karakh… did he really succeed in overthrowing Father?”

Her world had shattered, like glass breaking into countless pieces.

At first, she refused to believe Nolan’s words. But she had been wrong. Nolan was right.

The one responsible for all of this was her second older brother. Otherwise, how could Karakh have gained the ministers’ support so easily?

”Good,” Nolan said as he stepped forward. ”Now is the perfect time to take my revenge.”

Alina jolted and asked frantically, ”N-Nolan… what are you going to do?”

Nolan only smiled and replied in an indifferent tone, ”I’m going to repay him for everything he’s done to me.”

Alina could only stare blankly at his back as he walked into the throne room.
