Invincibility Begins with a Super Fairy Manny

Chapter 2759: Chapter 2760: The Test of Character

If she still remains weak and incompetent, then Xue An will turn away after helping her for the last time, leaving her to fend for herself.

This is also a test of Ren Ning’s temperament.

After all, no matter what one does, a coward will never accomplish anything great.

Although Xue An being able to escape the confines of the Black Hole and come to this world is largely due to Ren Ning.

But helping once or twice is fine, Xue An can’t possibly help her for a lifetime.

Some things still require her to stand up and face them bravely.

Like this matter at present.

Actually, Ren Butong did not resort to verbal abuse.

He’s not a fool; he saw everything that just happened.

Even the Shi Chang father and son, who he deemed invincible, were dispatched by Xue An as if slicing vegetables.

So even if he were given the courage of ten men, he wouldn’t dare disrespect Ren Ning in the slightest.

At this moment, he adopted only one tactic, which was to pester her with emotional manipulation.

”Daughter, it was wrong of me before, I shouldn’t have favored your sister and neglected you, it’s all my fault, I deserve to die, deserve to die!”

As he spoke, he viciously slapped himself twice, crying profusely, tears and snot flying.

Ren Ning was gripped tightly by her arm and couldn’t break free, standing there in a daze until Ren Butong slapped himself twice, she then trembled all over, coming back to her senses and then whispered.

”Don’t do this, let me go now!”

”No! I won’t let go, if you don’t forgive me, I’ll die right in front of you to atone for what I’ve done wrong before!” Ren Butong declared vehemently.

Ren Ning was silent for a moment, then whispered, ”Actually you didn’t do anything wrong, if it were me I’d favor my sister too, rather than someone like me!”

At this, Ren Ning’s expression became somewhat gloomy, ”After all, I know better than anyone how boring I am.”

But Ren Butong misunderstood Ren Ning’s meaning, turning his head and yelling at Ren Xing in the distance.

”What are you standing there for? Hurry up and apologize to your sister!”

Ren Xing turned pale at the shout, then trembled as she walked over, not knowing what to say, just standing dumbfounded in place and quivering.

Ren Butong flashed a fawning smile at Ren Ning, ”Daughter, it was all my fault before, I know you’ve been wronged, I’m getting Ren Xing to apologize to you right now!”

As he said this, he turned his head, his face immediately shifting to a chilling expression, ”Get on your knees and apologize to your sister!”

Ren Xing’s eyes filled with tears, yet she dared not defy Ren Butong’s order, she could only tremble and kneel.

”Sis... I’m sorry, it was all my fault before!”

After she spoke, her tears burst forth uncontrollably.

Seeing her kneeling and crying bitterly, there was a moment when Ren Ning felt dazed.

Once upon a time, she had also cried like this.

It was after her mother had just passed away, when she was still a child.

At that time, she didn’t understand what happened, and could only cry under the covers night after night, too afraid to tell Ren Butong.

Because even though she was young, she vaguely knew her mother’s death was inextricably linked to Ren Butong.

Even though she was his daughter, any strange behavior from her might cost her life.

This intense lack of security triggered Ren Ning’s psychological defense mechanism, making her completely forget how she got through that time.

She only vaguely remembers that after crying for a while, she buried everything deep in her heart, never to show it to her family again.

Her dramatic and imaginative nature was actually developed at that time.

Due to the immense childhood shadow and neglect in reality, she had to construct fantasies within herself for self-consolation.

”Hahaha daughter, are you still mad at dad?” Ren Butong rubbed his hands with a silly laugh, yet his eyes were filled with blatant anticipation.

Ren Ning snapped back to reality from her daze, looking at Ren Butong’s sycophantic face, she suddenly felt sick.

She shook her head, unwilling to say any more nonsense to this man, turning away to leave.

But just then, Ren Butong grabbed her arm and pleaded.

”Daughter, good daughter, please don’t go! Listen to me, the entire Ren Family is relying on you now, you’re the closest one to Young Master Xue, if you can succeed in getting close to him, our Ren Family will soar to great heights!”

”Succeed in what?” Ren Ning turned back, looking at him with some confusion.

Ren Butong’s face broke into a proud smile.

”That’s right, succeed! You and Young Master Xue have been together for so long, it’s impossible not to have slept together, as long as you can win over this newly risen nobleman, no one will dare to mess with our Ren Family! Haven’t you seen even Xu Ling’an treating him with utmost respect...?”

Ren Butong continued babbling about the pros and cons to Ren Ning.

But what he didn’t know was that his words had blown open the floodgates of Ren Ning’s deeply buried and locked memories.

The cries of her mother, the arguments of her parents, the scarlet night, the drunkard’s wicked smile, her mother lying insensate, and her mother’s calm and desperate instructions just before dying...

All these images rushed into Ren Ning’s mind, causing her body to start trembling.

She remembered.

Everything that happened back then, she remembered it all down to the last detail.

Yet Ren Butong remained oblivious, still babbling on.

Just then, a loud slap cut his words short, causing Xue An, who had already felt disappointed, to slightly brighten at the sight.

Ren Butong was struck dumb.

His persistence with Ren Ning was based on his understanding of her character, believing that with enough coaxing, this gentle daughter would surely forgive him.

So he never expected Ren Ning would dare to hit him.

”You...you...”

Ren Ning’s expression turned icy, ”Ren Butong, you really are a good husband and a good father!”

This stern rebuke suddenly reminded Ren Butong of something, causing a dramatic change in his face.

”I...”

But as soon as he said one word, Ren Ning raised her hand for another slap.

Smack!

”Back then to win the favor of dignitaries, you didn’t hesitate to offer your own wife, and because mother disagreed, you even used despicable methods like drugging to knock her out. The things you’ve done, truly honorable!”

These words caused a commotion throughout the room.

Nobody expected such a turn of events; even Ren Xing, who was kneeling on the ground, was dumbfounded.

Ren Butong’s face turned a shade of blue and then white. He wanted to act, but when his peripheral vision caught sight of that white figure, his whole body trembled, and then he forced a smile.

”What nonsense are you spouting, I never did such things...”

”Oh, really? Hahaha!”

Ren Ning laughed hysterically, tears of blood flowing from her eyes, and then she turned to Xue An and said.

”Young Master Xue, could I ask for a favor?”
