Urban Divine Doctor Descends the Mountain

Chapter 2942: Chapter 2941: What on Earth Is Going On?

”Are we really going to keep walking endlessly?”

Ye Linglong spoke again, with a slight tremble in her voice.

Dracula was evidently getting anxious as well. If they couldn’t even reach the Inner Hall, how could they hope to find more treasures?

The last time he was stopped, it was by the Inner Hall.

Once he reached the Inner Hall, he found that no matter what he did, he couldn’t go any further.

The Inner Hall was not a mechanism, but a formation.

The formation was too powerful for him to break.

”Brother Lin, last time I came here, I really just walked nine hundred and ninety-nine steps, and then passed through this stone staircase to reach the Inner Hall.”

”As for why this time is different, I really don’t know.”

”Perhaps someone entered afterward, triggering the prohibition here, causing changes.”

Dracula speculated.

Lin Dong fell silent and said, ”Let’s keep walking and see if we’re caught in a loop.”

Dracula and Ye Linglong were taken aback.

Dracula asked, ”Caught in a loop, what do you mean?”

”I mean, the total number of these stone steps might still be nine hundred and ninety-nine. However, their shape has changed.”

”When you came up before, those nine hundred and ninety-nine steps might have been in a straight line leading downward, so when you reached the end, you could exit.”

”But this time, the shape of these steps has changed. From a straight line, they’ve become a circle.”

”So we’re trapped in this loop. Of course, this is just my hypothesis...”

Hearing this, Dracula found it very reasonable.

”Brother Lin, your hypothesis makes sense. If that’s the case, we can make a mark on the steps. If we walk a full circle and see the mark again, it proves what you said. We are looping,” Dracula suggested.

He was quite clever and immediately thought of a way to verify Lin Dong’s hypothesis.

Lin Dong nodded and then said to Dracula, ”Brother Dracula, can you leave a mark on this Dark Devouring Stone?”

Dracula used his bloodline power, trying to make a mark on the Dark Devouring Stone.

”Pff~~~”

However, even with his bloodline power, transforming his hands into claws and grabbing the Dark Devouring Stone, he couldn’t leave any mark on it.

”This Dark Devouring Stone is harder than the Mystic Iron Stone of the Outer Hall. Even though I’m the first rank below the Secondary Ancestor, I can’t leave a mark on it. Of course, if I use all my strength, I might cause some damage, but I fear I won’t be able to control the power and destroy it.”

”Who knows what consequences might arise from destroying these steps...”

Lin Dong suggested, ”Why don’t you try leaving a mark with fresh blood then?”

Dracula found this sword intent reasonable and dripped some fresh blood on it, but unfortunately, the blood was immediately absorbed by the Dark Devouring Stone.

It not only slowly consumed their inner qi but also absorbed the fresh blood.

Unless it was truly destroyed, leaving a real mark, otherwise, it would be consumed and obliterated.

”Damn! I didn’t expect us, Heavenly Realm Martial Artists, to be stumped by such a small problem, unable to leave a mark on it.”

Dracula tried several methods, but none worked, and he ended up swearing with Dragon Country’s ’national essence’.

Lin Dong said, ”Let me try!”

At the moment, Lin Dong took out the Yangxin Sword, gathered inner qi, and then used the sword tip to slice the Dark Devouring Stone.

”Sss~~~” A deep mark appeared on the Dark Devouring Stone.

Seeing this, Dracula exclaimed, ”Your control over Kendo power is impressive. You’ve achieved complete control over it.”

”And you have an accurate assessment of the hardness of the Dark Devouring Stone as well. If fighting an opponent, you can also judge whether they can withstand your specific power, right?”

Lin Dong smiled and said, ”If the enemy is human or a Demon Emperor, I’d need to test a bit. It’s a dead thing after all, and after touching it, I could naturally judge.”

Dracula suddenly asked curiously, ”Brother Lin, if it were me, how much power would you need to use for Sword Two?”

Lin Dong didn’t answer.

Because answering honestly might hurt Dracula.

He only needed to use 40% of Sword Two’s power to slaughter him.

”Brother Dracula, I really don’t know. I think it’s best not to discuss this topic and instead, let’s continue moving forward and quickly leave this stone step area. It’s better to reach the Inner Hall soon.”

Lin Dong directly changed the topic.

Dracula also knew that Lin Dong probably wouldn’t answer such a question.

However, he still speculated in his heart.

”I should be able to withstand 80% of his Sword Two’s power, right?”

Clearly, he underestimated Lin Dong!

Afterward, the three continued onward.

And Ye Linglong kept silently counting the number of stone steps passed.

”One, two...”

This time, she started counting from the beginning. From where the mark was made.

The speed of the three also increased.

”Nine hundred ninety, nine hundred ninety-one, nine hundred ninety-two... nine hundred ninety-nine!”

Ye Linglong counted to nine hundred and ninety-nine steps.

However, to their surprise, they didn’t see the marked step.

”What’s going on? Logically, we’ve walked a full circle, so we should see the marked step. But why didn’t we see it?”

”Could Brother Lin’s hypothesis be wrong? Was it not that the shape of the nine hundred and ninety-nine steps changed?”

”But rather another reason, like the stairs have increased and become endless this time?”

Dracula’s voice carried a hint of tremor.

Even someone like him couldn’t understand why this was happening.

Clearly, the last time he came, there were only nine hundred and ninety steps.

But this time, why after walking for so long, haven’t they exited yet?

Why have the steps increased?

And increased by so much?

Also, how many steps are there exactly?

How long will it take to reach the end?

Will it still lead to the Inner Hall like last time?

The more questions there were, the greater the fear.

Because for someone of his strength, not seeing through or understanding something was indeed dangerous.

”Keep walking; I refuse to believe we can’t get out!” Dracula said in a deep voice.

”If we can’t get out, these Dark Devouring Stones beneath our feet will continue to sap our inner qi. And I just discovered, we can’t absorb spiritual energy here.”

”This means if we are trapped in this area for too long, eventually, the Dark Devouring Stones will sap all our inner qi.”

”And the longer we delay here, the worse it is for us.”

Lin Dong voiced a truth that made Dracula and Ye Linglong even more fearful.
