Urban Divine Doctor Descends the Mountain

Chapter 2659: Chapter 2658: Heavenly Realm Martial Artists, Fallen to This?

With Ah-Lei’s departure, the cave regained its calm once again.

Yun Ruoxian laughed bitterly, ”I never thought that as a Heavenly Realm Martial Artist, one day, I would actually be taken away by a common person to become the ’village chief’s wife’.”

If this matter were to spread in the outer world, it would surely make people laugh their heads off.

Yet here, it almost became a reality.

At this moment, Yun Ruoxian approached Lin Dong, her mouth close to Lin Dong’s ear, softly whispering:

”Lin Dong, actually I have a way to let you temporarily have inner Qi... it’s just...”

Yun Ruoxian’s voice was deep and mysterious, her face incredibly blurred in the darkness, but her eyes flickered with a complex light.

Lin Dong was shocked upon hearing her words, as if grasping at a life-saving straw, he urgently asked, ”What way? Tell me quickly!”

However, before Yun Ruoxian could finish speaking, a rush of footsteps and queries came from the cave entrance, interrupting her secret that was about to be revealed.

”Young Friend Lin, Little Sister Yun, have you returned? Are you in the cave? Can I come in? I have something important to discuss with you.” This voice was deep and powerful, revealing an undeniable authority, it was precisely the Sword Obsession Hermit.

Upon hearing this, Yun Ruoxian’s expression slightly changed, she swiftly swallowed back the words she was about to say, and turned to look at Lin Dong, her eyes filled with helplessness and apology.

Lin Dong also realized the sudden change in the situation, although he felt a myriad of reluctances, he could only temporarily suppress his curiosity and turned to respond to the cave entrance: ”Senior, please come in.”

With heavy footsteps, the figure of the Sword Obsession Hermit appeared at the cave entrance, dressed in a simple long robe, his face showed signs of aging, but his eyes were bright and sharp, as if able to pierce into people’s hearts.

He stepped into the cave, his gaze sweeping between the two, finally resting on Yun Ruoxian, seemingly sensing her subtly suppressed emotions.

”Young Friend Lin, Little Sister Yun, earlier I seemed to hear some fighting sounds, what was this about?” The Sword Obsession Hermit asked the two with a hint of a smile.

In fact, although he was not here earlier, he was in the next door cave, but he could still roughly guess what had happened.

Because he saw the tribe’s first warrior, break an arm and leave hurriedly.

He could roughly guess the reason.

Lin Dong and Yun Ruoxian exchanged a glance, both seeing a trace of peculiarity in the other’s eyes.

Lin Dong pondered for a moment, not concealing it, he told the Sword Obsession Hermit about the conflict with the tribe’s first warrior Ah-Lei just now.

After listening, the Sword Obsession Hermit shook his head and said, ”Surely so.”

”As it happens, I also have something to tell you. It relates to this matter as well.”

”Oh? What is it?” Lin Dong asked curiously.

The Sword Obsession Hermit’s eyes flashed deeply, he slowly spoke, his voice deep and powerful: ”Young Friend Lin, Fellow Taoist Yun, you probably have some understanding of this tribe, right? In this tribe, resources are scarce, human hearts are complex, and fights are endless. As the ancient saying goes, where there are people, there is Jianghu, and here is no exception.”

He paused for a moment, his gaze became more resolute: ”And we, if we want to establish ourselves on this land, and gain sufficient resources and voice, we must grasp more power. The most direct way would be to rule here.”

”Young Friend Lin, I see you have extraordinary talent, Fellow Taoist Yun is also exceptionally intelligent, I observe you both have extraordinary appearances. I wonder if you are interested in teaming up with me to do something big? Overthrow the current clan chief, we ourselves become clan chief and rule this tribe.”

Lin Dong was stunned upon hearing this, his face changed dramatically, as if struck by lightning, he froze in his original location.

He never expected that this once legendary Heavenly Realm Martial Artist would propose such an ”earthy” suggestion.

In his understanding, Heavenly Realm Martial Artists should transcend worldly matters, be above all things, how could they fall to the point of contending for power in a small tribe?

”Senior, are you... are you joking?” Lin Dong’s voice was somewhat weird, he tried to find a hint of jest or joke on the Sword Obsession Hermit’s face, but unfortunately, what he saw was only seriousness and determination.

”Young Friend Lin, I’m not joking.” The Sword Obsession Hermit shook his head, his tone revealed a kind of indescribable helplessness and determination, ”I am a Heavenly Realm Martial Artist, but I’ve been trapped here for decades, lost all inner Qi, like a common person. I know deeply that with my strength alone, I can no longer return to my past glory.”

”But I’m not reconciled, I’m not willing to silently grow old like this. I want to use the rest of my life to prove that even without inner Qi, I, the Sword Obsession, can still leave my mark on this land.”

”By then, once we’ve unified the tribe. We will then continue to create brilliance, go to conquer other tribes, and unify the entire island...”

Lin Dong fell silent, his heart was tumultuous, with countless thoughts.

He remembered his own glorious days in the outer world, the identity of a Heavenly Realm Martial Artist made him be respected and admired everywhere he went.

Yet now, he has to discuss how to rule a tribe of a few thousand people with another similarly fallen Heavenly Realm Martial Artist.

This gap made him feel suffocated.

”Senior Sword Obsession,” Lin Dong turned around, his gaze steadfast and sincere.

”I appreciate your kindness, and I’m grateful for your protection. But in my heart, there’s always a voice echoing, telling me I can’t, and shouldn’t give up hope of returning to the original world. There, I have my family, I have my friends, I have my unfinished dreams and responsibilities.”

The Sword Obsession Hermit frowned upon hearing this, a complex emotion flashed in his eyes full of world-weariness.

”Young Friend Lin, you’re still too young, not understanding the wickedness and helplessness of this world. How many souls have this sea swallowed over the years, attempting to escape this place? And that mountain is the legendary Forbidden Land, no one knows its full appearance, and no one dares to say they can traverse through it. Why are you so stubborn, insisting on walking this path without return?”

”Give up on this unrealistic thought of leaving, be realistic, stay and seize power with me, rule this tribe together.”

”Once successful, the three of us stand as equals, and you two can live like an immortal couple, on this land, spread your branches and leaves, carry on your lineage, and in the future, create a tribe of your own here.”

”Here, you don’t have to be bound by the laws and ethics of the outer world, no problem how many you want to bear. Even if you give birth to a race, create a country, no one will care...”

Lin Dong took a deep breath and did not let him continue.

But, with a more determined gaze, he said: ”Senior, if I can’t get out, then I’d rather die on that path. I will never stay here and live my life numb.”

He paused, his tone more gentle and determined: ”As for the life you mentioned, I am grateful for the blueprint you painted for us, it is indeed a sort of unspeakable beauty.

”But in my heart, true happiness is not merely comfort and freedom, but the process of facing challenges with those we love, together chasing dreams. Outside in the world, although full of unknowns and challenges, but that is also our common home, there lie our roots, our souls...”

The Sword Obsession Hermit gazed at Lin Dong, those eyes once sharp as an eagle now becoming tender and profound.

He gently shook his head, his lips forming a bitter smile: ”Enough, enough. I’ve lived so long, seen too many people lose themselves for fame and power, yet seldom seen someone like you, so unwavering towards freedom and ’roots.’

”Since your mind is made up, I won’t stop you. Wish you the best of luck.”
