Chapter 2640: Chapter 2639: The Weird Earth Dragon Egg!

At this moment, a change occurred.

A dragon egg emitting a soft blue light flew out from the Earth Dragon Emperor’s nest at some unknown time, gently floating towards Lin Dong. The surface of the dragon egg was covered with complex runes, exuding an ancient and mysterious aura, clearly extraordinary.

The Earth Dragon Emperor was taken aback, a hint of shock and confusion flashing in its eyes. It seemed unable to understand why the offspring of their Earth Dragon Clan would willingly approach this human.

Lin Dong was equally surprised, but he quickly sensed the faint call coming from the dragon egg, an inexplicable attraction, as if something within him resonated with the dragon egg.

”What...what’s going on here?” Lin Dong muttered to himself, but he soon realized that this might be the key to escaping this predicament.

He cautiously reached out his hand and lightly touched the dragon egg, which surprisingly trembled slightly, as if responding to his touch.

Seeing this, the Earth Dragon Emperor roared louder, clearly unwilling to see its offspring fall into human hands, yet hesitant due to the dragon egg’s unusual behavior.

Lin Dong seized the opportunity, quickly stepping back while exerting all his inner Qi, ready to leave this danger zone.

”Earth Dragon Emperor, today’s battle was never my wish. I have no intention of being your enemy or the enemy of the entire Earth Dragon Clan. I hope you can understand.” Lin Dong’s voice echoed in the wind, and he and the dragon egg’s figure gradually disappeared from their original location.

The Earth Dragon Emperor’s enormous body coiled at the edge of the dragon nest, its eyes that had seen so much history filled with confusion and worry.

It had wanted to chase after Lin Dong but was unable to leave this Earth Dragon Nest.

”The descendant of the Earth Dragon Venerate, to follow a human so easily...” The Earth Dragon Emperor’s voice was low and heavy, echoing in the empty dragon nest, carrying a sense of regret and helplessness.

It knew well, that although it was a Dragon Emperor, it was bound by ancient contracts and missions, unable to leave this dragon nest, nor could it step into the forbidden land—the deeper parts of the Earth Dragon Palace.

”If the Earth Dragon Venerate returns and discovers this, I’m afraid...” The Earth Dragon Emperor’s thoughts were interrupted by a sudden chill, a fear stemming from deep within its soul, causing it to tremble involuntarily.

It looked up at the profound passage, the direction where Lin Dong and the dragon egg disappeared, also the forbidden land it could not reach.

”Why? Why would the dragon egg choose him? What is so special about a mere human?” The Earth Dragon Emperor’s heart was full of doubt, unable to comprehend the connection surpassing racial boundaries, nor foresee the impact such an action would have on the Earth Dragon Clan.

At this moment, a faint wind blew from the depths of the passage, carrying a breath not belonging to this place.

The Earth Dragon Emperor opened its eyes sharply, a sharp glint flashing in its massive pupils, seemingly able to penetrate all illusions. However, it was unable to capture anything beyond the deepening darkness.

”Perhaps, it’s fate’s arrangement.” The Earth Dragon Emperor murmured, a few more traces of relief in its voice.

It realized that although it was a guardian, it ultimately could not interfere with the trajectory of fate. The dragon egg’s choice might just be the key to the future of the Earth Dragon Clan.

Thus, the Earth Dragon Emperor readjusted its posture, closed its enormous eyelids, and continued to guard this dragon nest.

Meanwhile, on the other side!

After leaving the Earth Dragon Nest, Lin Dong traversed through the intricate underground passages, each step filled with exploration and curiosity about the unknown in the Earth Dragon Palace.

Behind him, the old and heavy sigh of the Earth Dragon Emperor seemed to linger in the air, but the darkness ahead had completely isolated him from that dragon nest.

The flame condensed using inner Qi flickered with light in his hand but could not illuminate all the secrets within the depths of the Earth Dragon Palace.

”What’s the situation with this egg exactly? Why is it secretly following me? What is there on me that’s attracting it?” Lin Dong muttered to himself, his gaze occasionally falling on the Earth Dragon Egg beside him, hovering, avoiding nimbly.

The egg’s shell shimmered with faint fluorescence, seemingly containing the rhythm of life, each collision appearing both mischievous and mysterious.

”Hey, little guy, what exactly are you trying to do?” Lin Dong stopped, attempting to communicate with what seemed to be an inanimate presence, knowing well how absurd it sounded.

He slowly extended his hand, and the Earth Dragon Egg slowly moved from the air to his palm.

In his palm, gently holding the Earth Dragon Egg with a faint gold-purple light, his heart was a mix of complicated feelings.

He tried to touch this strange egg through mental communication, but only silence greeted him, as if the Earth Dragon Egg itself was a silent enigma.

Yet, this silence did not stop it from showing extreme closeness to Lin Dong. No matter how Lin Dong moved, the small form always followed closely and occasionally bumped his palm as if seeking more contact.

”You little guy, sure are a headache.” Lin Dong chuckled bitterly, finally deciding not to resist this sudden bond.

His mind stirred, a flash from the Dragon Ring, and the Earth Dragon Egg vanished from his hand, safely stored within the vast space of the Dragon Ring.

Entering the Dragon Ring Space, Lin Dong heard the slightly surprised voice of the Sovereign Witch: ”Lin Dong, you’ve made quite a gain this time! A gold-purple Earth Dragon Egg, simply unimaginable!”

The Soul of the Sovereign Witch appeared in the space, eyes filled with shock, ”Gold-purple in the Dragon Tribe symbolizes supreme bloodline and potential. The future of this Earth Dragon Egg is immeasurable. It’s very likely to grow into the supreme of the Earth Dragon Clan!”

Upon hearing this, Lin Dong’s heart surged with emotion. He detailed the encounter with the Earth Dragon Egg, including how it actively approached him and displayed unusual closeness.

After listening, the Sovereign Witch pondered, eyes reflecting a thoughtful light, slowly saying, ”Perhaps, as you said, it’s attracted by the Dragon Blood Sacred Body within you. The Dragon Blood Sacred Body is one of the purest dragon bloodlines between heaven and earth, possessing irresistible attraction for beings of the same tribe or those with dragon bloodlines.”

”Is that so?” Lin Dong muttered, having both relief and new confusion in his heart.

He looked up at the Sovereign Witch, hoping for further answers, but the Sovereign Witch merely shook his head, indicating that all this still needed time to be verified.

”Forget it, since it chose me, I will certainly take care of it.” Lin Dong decided privately, then changed the topic, ”However, what’s more important now is finding Yun Ruoxian and Tang Yun. We previously communicated, agreeing they’d wait for me ahead, but now I can’t sense their presence.”

Upon hearing this, the Sovereign Witch’s expression became serious: ”In this Earth Dragon Palace, dangers are everywhere. If they act alone, they indeed might face mishaps. You should calm sensing, perhaps capturing a trace.”

Lin Dong closed his eyes, focusing, using all his perception to attempt capturing Yun Ruoxian and Tang Yun’s presence within this vast Earth Dragon Palace.

However, aside from the occasional dragon roar and the dark aura from the deep cave around him, he discovered nothing.

”I hope they are safe.” Lin Dong whispered to himself, eyes flashing with determination, ”No matter what, I must delve deeper, find Dragon’s saliva and Earth Dragon Treasure Technique, and also locate them.”

Finished speaking, he moved forward, continuing into the dark passage ahead.
