Urban Divine Doctor Descends the Mountain

Chapter 706: Chapter 706: The Benefactor From Years Ago

Lin Dong was looking for someone this time, but it wasn’t an enemy from the past like those from the Four Great Clans.

It was Lin Dong’s benefactor!

When Lin Dong was still in swaddling clothes, trouble arose in the Capital City, and his mother took him to seek refuge in her maternal home in Jiangbei. Unexpectedly, Chen Beiming betrayed them, leading to their clan’s ultimate catastrophe.

His mother, with Lin Dong still in her arms, had to flee once again.

During their escape, they were taken in by a kind couple for a few days.

This incident was recorded in the letter his mother left him.

As for those who had shown him favor, Lin Dong of course would not forget. He wanted to repay the kindness that the couple had shown him all those years ago.

Yesterday, Lin Dong had sent Long Ying to investigate the couple’s current whereabouts, and today Long Ying had finally found them.

Having obtained their address, Lin Dong went to visit them alone.

About half an hour later, Lin Dong arrived at the urban village in Jiangbei.

The couple now lived in this urban village.

The couple were now over fifty years old, primarily living off selling fish, and everyone called the head of the household Gao Quezi.

Because his surname was Gao, and he had a lame leg, he had acquired this name.

The husband and wife ran the small fish stall together, and their life was quite difficult. They also had a daughter, who was twenty-five years old this year.

It was now close to night, and they had already closed their fish stall.

Having returned home, Lin Dong, who had already learned this, directly went to their house to find them.

The house they lived in was still one of those old apartments with a shared kitchen and bathroom from decades ago. It wasn’t tall, located on the fifth floor.

One needed to pass through a narrow and damp corridor to reach the stairwell.

Lin Dong walked through that corridor, climbed the stairs, came to the fifth floor, and knocked on the door lightly.

”Creak~~” The door opened; it was the wife of the couple.

The woman in her fifties looked like a seventy-year-old due to the harsh labor and hardships of life, with white hair and a face and hands full of wrinkles.

Life always seemed to bully the poor, leaving its mark on them.

The woman was puzzled by Lin Dong’s sudden appearance at their door, as she had never seen him before.

”Young man, who are you looking for? Are you looking for my daughter?” she guessed he was looking for her daughter since the Lin Dong at the door appeared to be around her daughter’s age.

Lin Dong shook his head and said, ”Aunty, I’m here to see you and uncle.”

”Us?” The wife was puzzled, turning her head to ask a man sitting on an old sofa inside the room, ”Husband, do you know him?”

That man with the lame leg was indeed Gao Quezi. He was just over fifty, but his complexion and the wrinkles on his face, as well as the calluses on his hands, made him look like a man in his sixties or seventies.

His eyes, weathered by life’s storms, sized up Lin Dong for a moment.

After that, he also expressed doubt, ”I don’t know him...”

Suddenly, he frowned and said, ”You’re not one of those people, are you? I beg you, leave us alone. We only have this rundown house; if you take it from us, we really will be homeless.”

Lin Dong quickly said, ”Uncle, aunty, you’ve misunderstood. I’m not here to trouble you; I’ve come to repay your kindness.”

”Do you remember, twenty years ago, you took in a mother and son and were kind to them once?”

No sooner had he spoken, the woman couldn’t help asking, ”Could it be... you are that baby from back then?”

She still remembered that incident from the past.

Mainly because the woman back then was so beautiful. She seemed like a celestial being descending from the heavens.

The baby too looked like a porcelain doll. So her impression was very deep, and even after twenty years had passed, she remembered them immediately.

Hearing this, Lin Dong was sure that these were the people who had shown kindness to him in the past.

He said to the couple, ”Uncle, aunty, yes, I am that baby from back then.”

”Thank you for everything back then,” he continued.

With those words, Lin Dong bowed deeply to them!

”So it’s you, ah, the matter back then was just a simple effort. We didn’t do much, just gave you a few meals; it really wasn’t anything.” The couple said.

They did not expect any repayment from Lin Dong.

They felt it was just a small matter, and if Lin Dong hadn’t mentioned it, they would have long forgotten.

Lin Dong said, ”A favor over a simple meal should also be repaid with springs of gratitude!”

As he spoke, he took out two Dan medicines from his bosom.

These two Dan medicines were Yuan Restoration Pills, with a market price of one for twenty billion.

Lin Dong gifted them to the couple.

”These are two Resuscitating Pills, which you can take. After taking them, they will greatly benefit your health.”

Lin Dong said, handing over the two Yuan Restoration Pills to them.

The couple looked at each other, unsure whether to accept it for a while.

At this moment, suddenly, a noisy clatter of footsteps echoed from the corridor.

Then, a group of tattooed big men headed for Gao Quezi’s home.

Before they were close, a burly man leading them shouted, ”Gao Quezi, you’ve got some nerve! We told you to move out within three days, and now the time’s up, yet you’re still here.”

”Don’t you want to keep your other leg, or what?”

At the sound, Gao Quezi and his wife turned pale with fright, quivering in fear.
