Apocalyptic Flood: Sexy Beauty Neighbor's Midnight Plea for Food

Chapter 1256 - 590: What Lies Above the Sky

”Mr. Liang, stop immediately!”

Zhang Wenjing screamed in shock.

Her whole body burned with flames, accelerating madly.

In an instant, she rushed over, appearing in front of Liang Yuan.

Liang Yuan clutched a beating heart in his hand, looking coldly at the newcomer.

”Are you from the military?”

Zhang Wenjing promptly introduced herself: ”Mr. Liang, I am personnel from the military’s Cloud Mist Island, my name is Zhang Wenjing.”

Perhaps fearing that Liang Yuan wouldn’t take her seriously, she quickly added another sentence: ”I am a Dove Faction officer at the regimental commander level, my father is the leader of the Dove Faction, Division Commander Zhang Yujiang.”

Liang Yuan raised an eyebrow, surprised by the woman’s considerable influence.

His figure swayed, and his body returned to its normal form.

Maintaining the Genetic Reorganization State requires consuming a large amount of superpower energy.

Liang Yuan naturally couldn’t maintain this form at all times.

”What did Miss Zhang just say? You want me to stop?”

Zhang Wenjing’s expression immediately became serious and solemn, saying: ”Yes, Mr. Liang, you cannot kill him!”

Liang Yuan looked at her and at the lone surviving brain in his hand, suddenly laughing: ”What are you talking about?”

”Can’t you see, its two brains are already dead?”

”Mr. Liang, I understand your meaning, I’m not here to teach you how to do things.”

”It’s just that this matter is of great importance, the head in your hand is a projection of our military’s superpower expert Pei Yuanhu.”

”Destroying this projection of his will greatly impact his main body, we kindly ask you, Mr. Liang, to show mercy and give the military some face.”

Upon hearing this, Liang Yuan’s face immediately darkened.

”Are you saying the Water God Sect’s actions are instigated by you?”

Zhang Wenjing hurriedly shook her head, saying: ”You’ve misunderstood, we did not instigate them, when we recruited Pei Yuanhu, he had already established the Water God Sect.”

”He agreed to join our team on the condition we would not use force to suppress the Water God Sect, his ability is very unique and we need his cooperation, so we had to agree.”

”Over the years, the Water God Sect has continually expanded its influence, we’ve met with him many times, but with little success.”

”Fortunately, even though Yuan Shijie’s faction doesn’t align with our Dove Faction’s ideals, they also harbor a great hatred for these cults, so they’ve primarily focused on suppressing them, preventing these sects from causing great disasters.”

Liang Yuan frowned: ”I don’t understand, what exactly is the military doing?”

”You clearly have the strength to organize teams, rescue the people outside, and suppress these cult organizations, yet you hide away in Guangfu without any action!”

”You can’t deal with these cults, now I’m going to deal with them, and you appear suddenly to stop me? What does that mean?”

Zhang Wenjing was helpless, her beautiful face full of bitter smiles.

She hesitated slightly, then said: ”Mr. Liang, have you heard of Celestial Abyss?”

”Celestial Abyss?”

Liang Yuan shook his head: ”What is that? Is it related to what we’re discussing now?”

Zhang Wenjing nodded slightly: ”It has a lot to do with it.”

”In fact, at the beginning of the great flood, the country wasn’t lacking the capacity to organize effective rescue.”

”However, even before the flood began, Celestial Abyss had already appeared.”

”Most of the nation’s efforts were invested in it, making it really difficult to spare resources to rescue the people.”

”Even our capability is limited to spreading knowledge via radio on superpowers and foundational information about mutant creatures, trying to help the public adapt quickly to the apocalyptic flood world.”

Liang Yuan’s face couldn’t hide his shock: ”What did you say? At the beginning of the great flood, the country had the capacity to conduct rescues?”

”Can you still communicate with the upper echelons of the government now?”

Liang Yuan immediately pursued questions.

If the national institutions are still functioning, and government capabilities are intact, then the apocalyptic world might truly hold some hope.

Nonetheless, Zhang Wenjing sighed and shook her head: ”Initially, we could still receive orders from above.”

”But as superpower energy filled the world completely, we lost all connections with the upper echelons.”

”The last directive we received was to guard Celestial Abyss and the Abyss, absolutely ensuring no mutant creatures breached into these areas.”

Liang Yuan asked in confusion: ”Hold on, the Celestial Abyss and the Abyss you’re talking about, exactly what are they?”

Zhang Wenjing pointed to the endless thick clouds in the sky, saying: ”Mr. Liang, have you ever thought about what’s above those thick layers of clouds?”

”Have you ever wondered where this vast expanse of flood actually originates from?”

”What’s happening in the skies?”

”Have you noticed how most high-altitude flying birds seem to have completely disappeared?”

Zhang Wenjing’s series of questions would have left anyone else bewildered.

However, Liang Yuan had genuinely pondered these questions, and had even attempted to explore the skies above the clouds.

As for the monstrous flying creatures, he had personally witnessed them during the Sea Tide at Yangshan.

He had even flown with Tu Long into the outer edges of the cloud layer.

Thus, he immediately realized there could indeed be significant secrets hidden within the clouds in the sky!

The woman from the military standing before him seemed to know something.

”Above the cloud layer are endless thunderclouds, with extremely high voltage, not something ordinary creatures can cross.”

”As for those mutant bird monsters, they seem to have evolved a way to withstand the thunderclouds. I’ve seen them burst from the thunderclouds and come to Yangshan to hunt during the Sea Tide.”

”Have you been above the thunderclouds?”

Liang Yuan focused his gaze on Zhang Wenjing, seemingly trying to discern some answers from her face.

Zhang Wenjing showed a hint of surprise upon hearing Liang Yuan’s words.

It was clear she hadn’t expected Liang Yuan to have actually learned about these things.

In her dealings with Guangfu and its many factions, there were not only the Three Great Sects but also numerous smaller ones.

However, those people were short-sighted and confined to the petty issues of land squabbles and food fights.

No one really cared where this flood came from, why it rained endlessly, or why birds vanished collectively.

At least so far, Liang Yuan was the first leader she’d seen who actually cared about these matters.

Admiringly, she looked at Liang Yuan and said, ”Mr. Liang is indeed different from the others.”

”Since you’ve also noticed these things, I’ll reveal a bit to you.”

”But due to confidentiality agreements, I can’t say much.”

”Above the thunderclouds, there are indeed great secrets.”

”The sky is completely different from what we once knew; it’s filled with numerous floating islands.”

”Floating islands?”

Liang Yuan was astonished; he hadn’t expected such a scene above the thunderclouds.

”It’s not just floating islands; there are many mutant creatures parasitizing on those islands.”

”Do you know where those mutant birds go when they fly above the clouds?”

”To those floating islands?”

”Yes, those islands have abundant biological resources, and they can pass through thunderclouds, their strength undisputed, allowing them to survive on the floating islands.”

”Only some weaker species, at the bottom of the floating island’s food chain, will pass through the thunderclouds again to seek food on the torrential ocean surface.”

Liang Yuan’s mind couldn’t help recall those giant birds seen at Yangshan, feeling somewhat shocked.

That level of giant birds are still at the bottom of the floating island’s food chain?

How terrifying must the top predators of the floating island’s food chain be?

His expression grew serious and suddenly, he asked perplexedly, ”Where do these floating islands come from?”

”And where does this continuous rainstem from?”

Zhang Wenjing shook her head: ”We don’t know where they come from. Currently, based on our observations, we suspect these floating islands might be meteorite fragments or enormous biological corpses.”

”Biological corpses!”

Liang Yuan’s pupils contracted, suddenly remembering the floating islands that appeared in the flood!

All evidence indicated that the floating islands in the flood were indeed enormous corpses.

And now Zhang Wenjing claims the floating islands in the sky are also formed from some kind of massive corpse?

Zhang Wenjing glanced at Liang Yuan, seeing his thoughtful expression, she continued: ”Are you thinking about your floating island?”

”Yes, based on my speculation, the floating island should be some kind of giant corpse, with clear biological characteristics in its heart core and brain core.”

Zhang Wenjing nodded: ”Your speculation isn’t wrong, that’s indeed the case.”

”In fact, our research indicates that these floating islands were originally floating islands.”

”Although we don’t know how these floating islands suddenly appeared on our planet, based on our observations, the density of floating islands varies. Some are even lighter than air, allowing them to float easily above the clouds.”

”But some floating islands are dense, yet lighter than water, so upon descending to the water’s surface, they form floating islands.”

”Additionally, some floating islands possess internal gravitational fields, where despite having significant density, they are able to generate gravitational repulsion with the planet’s magnetic field, allowing them to float in the air.”

Liang Yuan pondered and asked: ”So the creatures parasitizing those floating islands are creatures parasitizing the giant corpse’s body?”

”Yes, there are many parasitic creatures on floating islands. Even if the floating giant corpse has died, it still provides sufficient nutrients for these parsites.”

”But floating islands are different; most floating islands have lost vitality, with nutrients mostly absorbed.”

”Some floating islands completely lose nutrients, forming a truly uninhabited floating island, prompting parasitic creatures to leave the island and dive into the flood to find food.”

”Over time, these parasitic creatures gather underwater, forming a huge community.”

”We call it the abyss.”

”And once the floating island in the sky loses all nutrients, the parasites will also try to break through the cloud layer to search for food below.”

”The passage they break open, we call it the celestial abyss.”

”If we don’t defend the celestial abyss, letting those parasites come down to hunt, this world would have long become their hunting ground, with humans becoming their food.”

Liang Yuan heard these words, couldn’t help but take a deep breath.

Is this the secret above the cloud layer he’s always wanted to explore?

Is the truth really like this?

Where did these floating giant corpses come from?

Hasn’t the government figured it out?
