The Great Thief

In any case, Water Fairy didn’t want to keep this pet.

Lu Xin thought for a while before patting it and saying, “How about we give it to Dreamy? She likes pets the most.”

Lu Xin was actually quite close to Remnant Dream. After all, their age difference was the smallest, and Remnant Dream had a lot of pets. Lu Xin had spent a lot of time taking care of those pets with her.

“Alright, I think she will like it,” Water Fairy agreed; she didn’t seem to mind.

Remnant Dream was already quite happy because she had received a cute turtle pet. She didn’t think her day could get any better until she suddenly got news that she would be getting another pet.

“Where is it?” Remnant Dream asked after quickly arriving.

“It’s this one. It’s a bit small; do you want it?” It wasn’t that Lu Xin didn’t like the little crawfish, but she wasn’t online enough to take care of it. If she took it for herself, it probably wouldn’t survive for long.

On the other hand, Remnant Dream was different. She loved her pets and had bought a huge manor that all of them would be free to roam around in.

Besides, if Remnant Dream had a pet, Lu Xin could play with it too.

“Wow, what kind of lobster is this? I’ve never seen it before. It even spits bubbles,” Remnant Dream said as she immediately tossed her turtle aside and picked up the crawfish. This little pink creature had completely captured her heart.

“It’s called a Magical Crawdad,” Lu Li explained before adding, “It’s a rare pet.”

Although the turtle mount and pet were rare, acquiring them was guaranteed with the second prize at the fishing competition. They could also be found in other fishing related activities.

However, the Magical Crawdad could only be obtained from Mr. Claws. Mr. Claws’ drop rate was already very low, and the chance of him dropping a Magical Crawdad was even lower.

Remnant Dream caught this new pet and happily played together with Lu Xin.

Lu Li had instructed Cain’s Left Hand to gather a group of Thieves to follow his sister around and protect her. He only required two Thieves to be on duty at a time and they could rotate between members.

In fact, Cain’s Left Hand had already started to build up Ruling Sword’s security team.

Almost every guild had a similar organization. This group would travel alongside the top members of the guild, or be tasked with important escort missions. They could also accompany Trade Skill players to dangerous locations for fishing, collecting herbs, mining minerals or generally collecting items that would yield a great profit.

It was a little unusual to have bodyguards in a game, but this wasn’t without its benefits.

After Lu Li and Water Fairy separated, Lu Li went back to inspect the harvest on Booty Bay. The situation had turned out better than he expected.

There were a few things that had happened in the process. The Trade Skill player in charge was called Aunty Scallion, and she reported the situation to Lu Li.

In the beginning, things were progressing smoothly. Everyone was wondering about what they would do with the Scrumptious Fish and was happy to oblige when someone decided that they wanted to buy them.

When they saw this, others quickly followed suit. Dawn had plenty of players with extra cash, and when they saw someone buying up these fish, they thought that there might be a business opportunity.

However, they didn’t dare to raise the price, so they just followed the Ruling Sword pricing.

Although they didn’t receive many fish, most of them had not even participated in the competition and saw this as an opportunity.

These players just wanted to hold onto a few before they could see what the true use for them was.

This meant Aunty Scallion had no choice but to raise the prices to beat their competitors. The price rose from one silver coin to five silver coins, but these circumstances were short-lived.

The people who were following the prices saw the increase, which further solidified the value of the Scrumptious Fish. And the price only continued increasing – from five, to six, to seven, to eight, to nine and then ten silver coins.

The market suddenly became confused, and even those who originally intended to sell began to hesitate.

Many players decided to stop selling for a while, and Ruling Sword’s Scrumptious Fish intake dropped, but Aunty Scallion was in no hurry.

Her team was fortunately filled with many novel ideas on how to acquire even more of these fish.

While everyone was raising the price of the Scrumptious Fish, a message suddenly began to spread.

According to the views of an insider, the Scrumptious Fish couldn’t be used for anything. It was just businessmen who saw this as a business opportunity, which was why they had bought the fish for a silver coin.

When the other players saw the fish being bought up, they followed suit.

When the price was increased by the businessmen to five silver coins, those who were following naturally did the same.

The problem was that the businessmen who initially bought up the fish with one silver coin, was now dumping them at five or ten times the price.

Some managed to turn 1000 gold into 10,000 gold, just like that!

The insider thought that this was such an abhorrent practice that he had to say something. He appealed to everyone in the hope that these black-hearted businessmen would not succeed.

Some players were skeptical, but most players believed it.

These businessmen already had a bad reputation, and the practice of selling low-value items for an inflated price was exactly what they were good at. Moreover, there was no one who knew exactly what these Scrumptious Fish were good for.

As a result, the players who were involved were pushed to action.

They didn’t care about the money, but they didn’t want to be fools either. They stopped buying the Scrumptious Fish and tried to get rid of as many as possible while the price was still high. Perhaps they could still make some money.

Then, one player after another began undercutting the prices, and soon, the whole market was filled with sellers…

The Ruling Sword players then jumped on their opportunity to lower the market price. Although they didn’t reach the one-silver-coin mark at the very beginning, they were able to purchase the Scrumptious Fish for two silver coins.

This was the scene that Lu Li was watching.

There were many players currently selling Scrumptious Fish, and not many of them were competing with Ruling Sword.

As for where the Scrumptious Fish market was actually going, everyone was now very skeptical about it.

“Boss, we’ve spent too much money and we now have over 300,000 Scrumptious Fish. The average price is now 1.8 silver coins which means we will have spent more than 6000 gold coins. All of these expenses will come from the guild. What was the point of this?” Aunty Scallion asked curiously.

“The numbers still seem a bit small. Are there no more fish out in the market?” Lu Li said, avoiding the question.

“Of course there are more, but not as many as there were before,” Aunty Scallion answered. She didn’t dare to ask again. She was the person in charge of the Trade Skill players of the guild and understood the importance of the matter. If Lu Li didn’t explain it, that meant that she didn’t need to know.
