Chapter 692: Chapter 10 Devouring Island

“We’re in trouble; even such powerful Magic Arrows can’t penetrate the defenses of these Netherworld Demon Sharks. I’m afraid we need to prepare to run away.”

Seeing the Magic Arrows bounce off the bodies of the Netherworld Demon Sharks, Lin Feng knew they were in trouble.

These Netherworld Demon Sharks before him were too terrifying, and there were more than a dozen of them. Once these Netherworld Demon Sharks rushed forward,

they were simply unstoppable by this giant ship.

Indeed.

A dozen or so Netherworld Demon Sharks charged towards them.

And slammed violently against the giant ship.

Crack, crack.

With the first wave of impact, the ship’s Defensive Restriction began to shatter.

Then,

the Netherworld Demon Sharks slammed into the giant ship again.

Boom…

The explosive sound shook the heavens.

The Defensive Restriction of the giant ship was broken through by the head-on charge of a Netherworld Demon Shark.

What followed was terrifying.

The hull of the giant ship began to disintegrate.

“Run…”

“Hurry up and leave the ship, it’s about to break apart.”

Many people were screaming in terror.

Many faces turned pale.

Everyone rushed frantically into the air.

“Swish…”

The cold light flickered.

One by one, the Netherworld Demon Sharks opened their gaping maws.

Dense water arrows sprayed out.

Aiming for the cultivators in the air.

Pfft, pfft.

The sound of the water arrows tearing through flesh followed.

Accompanied by shrill screams, many cultivators were pierced directly by the water arrows.

And then they fell down.

Swallowed whole by the Netherworld Demon Sharks.

These Netherworld Demon Sharks were exceedingly fierce.

With powerful attacks.

They didn’t just attack with water arrows.

Their huge tails lashed out as well,

killing dozens of cultivators with a single sweep.

“Go, go, go…”

Many people were trembling with fear, flying frantically towards the distance.

Seeing those cultivators nearly escaping,

the Netherworld Demon Sharks spewed out globs of pitch-black energy spheres.

These Netherworld Demon Sharks were truly too powerful.

Not only could they attack with water arrows, but they also possessed even more formidable energy attacks.

Each energy sphere explosion took the lives of many cultivators.

Then the Netherworld Demon Sharks sucked fiercely.

The bodies of the cultivators were drawn towards the Netherworld Demon Sharks.

And devoured.

These Netherworld Demon Sharks had ferocious temperaments.

They liked to attack cultivator islands or ships at sea.

Legends say that tens of thousands of years ago, the population of Netherworld Demon Sharks reached its peak.

There were thousands of Netherworld Demon Sharks that attacked a huge settlement at sea together.

Under the onslaught of thousands of Netherworld Demon Sharks, the settlement was instantly destroyed.

And out of tens of millions of cultivators, only a minute fraction escaped.

Almost all were devoured by Netherworld Demon Sharks.

This was the infamous “Dire Shark Island Annihilation” event.

Under the leadership of the Netherworld Demon Shark King,

the Netherworld Demon Sharks continuously attacked maritime cultivator settlements.

Over a dozen settlements were destroyed by the Netherworld Demon Shark swarm.

Countless ships were devoured by the Netherworld Demon Shark swarm.

At the time, this caused immense panic in the East Sea.

But this also completely enraged the various powers of the East Sea.

Under the call of the Three Holy Lands and Four Immortal Islands,

the forces of the East Sea, both big and small, banded together to encircle and suppress the Netherworld Demon Shark swarm.

Ultimately, at a heavy cost, they killed the Netherworld Demon Shark King and destroyed the swarm.

Originally, the forces of the East Sea wanted to completely exterminate the Netherworld Demon Sharks to vent their anger.

But the intervention of an envoy from the Dragon Palace of the East Sea prevented the extinction of this species.

However, after that battle, the Netherworld Demon Sharks suffered heavy losses, their numbers dwindling from several thousand to just a few dozen.

The breeding of Netherworld Demon Sharks was extremely difficult, and their growth even more so.

Even after tens of thousands of years,

the number of Netherworld Demon Sharks remained very low.

…

Deploying over a dozen Netherworld Demon Sharks at once was already considered a sizable operation.

The giant ship originally had five or six thousand cultivators on board.

In no time at all, more than half were massacred by the Netherworld Demon Sharks.

Everything unfolding before them was truly too tragic.

Lin Feng and Sikong Zhaiyue swiftly flew toward the distance.

The thunderous roar of explosions echoed.

A giant tail from one of the Netherworld Demon Sharks lashed their way.

Lin Feng and Sikong Zhaiyue quickly evaded.

Narrowly avoiding the Netherworld Demon Shark’s strike.

At that moment,

the Netherworld Demon Shark spat out energy globes, blasting toward them.

Many cultivators were struck dead by the energy globes on the spot.

The energy globes also enveloped Lin Feng and Sikong Zhaiyue.

“Heavenly God Shield.”

At this time, Sikong Zhaiyue summoned a treasured artifact.

It was a shield he held in his hand.

That shield suddenly manifested the phantom of a Heavenly God, wrapped in divine light, protecting them within.

Heavenly God Shield!

Its defense was astonishing!

The energy attack of the Netherworld Demon Shark blasted over.

And at that moment, the Heavenly God Shield unleashed its power.

Blocking the attack of the Netherworld Demon Shark.

“This is the Life-bound Magical Treasure left by the ancestor who founded the Sikong Family, its defense is incredibly strong. Although I still can’t fully control this treasure, protecting us as we leave won’t be an issue,” Sikong Zhaiyue said.

“Right, there’s no time to lose; let’s hurry,” Lin Feng responded.

The two broke through using the formidable defensive power of the Heavenly God Shield.

They didn’t stop, quickly leaving the area.

“These Netherworld Demon Sharks are truly terrifying.”

Sikong Zhaiyue let out a sigh of relief.

Lin Feng nodded and said, “We’re lucky to have escaped.”

The appearance of the Netherworld Demon Sharks caused a great commotion.

Ships were continuously attacked by the Netherworld Demon Sharks.

The casualties were severe.

These Netherworld Demon Sharks did not always move in groups.

Some chose to operate alone.

“Up ahead is a gathering place; though it’s not especially large, it has two to three hundred thousand transient cultivators. We’ll go there to rest for a day.”

Sikong Zhaiyue pointed toward a distant island.

Faintly, they could see a city within the island.

Clearly, someone had built a city on the island.

“Mhm.”

Lin Feng nodded.

He followed Sikong Zhaiyue toward the island.

When they were about to reach the island,

suddenly, Lin Feng felt intense fluctuations coming from the depths of the sea.

“Not good, it’s a Netherworld Demon Shark”

Lin Feng’s face slightly changed.

He and Sikong Zhaiyue quickly rushed to higher ground.

Soon, that Netherworld Demon Shark surfaced.

The colossal body of the Netherworld Demon Shark appeared on the sea surface.

“Only one.”

Sikong Zhaiyue exhaled in relief.

The Netherworld Demon Shark charged toward the cultivator gathering place.

The cultivators there also noticed the Netherworld Demon Shark.

“No good, the Netherworld Demon Shark is coming, run for your lives!”

Many shouted in terror.

But by this time, it was too late to escape.

The Netherworld Demon Shark opened its massive, gaping maw.

A terrifying scene unfolded.

The enormous mouth of the Netherworld Demon Shark was like a black hole,

from which terrible dark forces surged forth.

The entire huge island was enveloped.

The island began to shrink rapidly.

Everyone was trapped on the island.

Crack.

The Netherworld Demon Shark swallowed the island in one bite.

Along with several hundred thousand people on it.

They were all devoured by the Netherworld Demon Shark, in one fell swoop.
