Lackey's Seducing Survival Odyssey

Chapter 1000: Broken Bond

The numerous blood tubes and countless jars of blood had vanished from the room... not a single one was left behind.

There wasnʼt even a speck of anything.

Xara blinked in disbelief, her steps halting as her eyes scanned the eerily clean floor.

Everything was gone.

Aether... he had managed to remove them all?

She felt a strange knot form in her chest. How in the world had he cleared every last tube and jar in such a short amount of time? How did he even carry them without shattering a single one? They were volatile— even the slightest movement couldʼve cracked them apart like fragile glass. Just brushing one wrong could have triggered an explosion or spilled contamination.

Her lips parted slightly, stunned. She had expected a mess, broken glass, blood stains— something.

But there was nothing.

Xara slowly exhaled, her shoulders dropping. For a moment, relief washed over her. It was faint... but she found herself almost thankful to Aether.

However—

”...Kai?”

She flinched as soon as she heard it, as if the name alone jolted her nerves.

She looked straight ahead, and her heart sank. Her entire body froze.

The large tube... it was still there.

That one important thing was still there.

Her eyes widened in horror as she turned toward Kai, who had stopped walking and was now staring ahead, as if drawn by some invisible force.

His body moved on its own.

Subconsciously, Kai stepped closer, his expression blank but his heartbeat growing wild in his chest. He was walking straight toward the tube.

The boy inside...

A boy who looked exactly like him.

His legs moved stiffly, breath was shaky.

His heart was pounding so loudly it felt like it echoed through his skull.

That face...

That body...

That exact same hair, that familiar build, that same frame—

Everything.

It was him.

He couldnʼt even form words.

His lips trembled, but no sound came out. He just kept walking, slowly but surely, toward the glass container.

Something inside him... somewhere deep... quietly cracked.

Time began to slow. Every second dragged like hours. His breath became heavy and drawn out. His chest heaved with confusion, with disbelief.

Everything around him blurred.

His hand lifted as if guided by instinct. His trembling fingers pressed softly against the surface of the glass tube.

Cold.

He blinked.

And stared.

The boy inside the tube... looked just like him, but younger. A little smaller, his features not fully matured. Like when Kai was fifteen years old. That was how this boy looked— like a preserved version of his teenage self.

His fingers lingered against the tube. He didnʼt blink. He didnʼt even breathe for a moment.

He just stared.

Eyes locked.

This wasnʼt a trick.

This wasnʼt a dream.

He completely stared at the boy, unable to even whisper. No voice, no thought... everything around him collapsed into a silence that roared louder than anything.

Nothing made sense.

This wasnʼt just shocking.... It was unthinkable... Unimaginable!

Behind him, Vesperine and Selene stood frozen.

Even they were taken aback— their minds racing, trying to piece together what they were seeing. Neither could understand what was happening, what this even meant.

”Y-You... Wh-What have you done?” Velc finally found his voice, snapping out of the stunned trance. He stumbled forward and glared at Xara with a burning fury in his eyes.

His voice cracked with horror. His words shook.

Xara bit her lower lip, her eyes darting away. Her hand slowly rose, nudging her forehead as if trying to massage away the building pressure.

”... Answer him,” Kaiʼs voice suddenly echoed—low, quiet, but laced with something sharp and hollow. The kind of emotionless tone that made the air turn cold.

Everyone flinched.

Even Selene twitched beside Vesperine.

Vesperineʼs lips curled into a small smirk. Her eyes narrowed. Her plan was finally moving forward... She could feel it.

Her gaze shifted to Xara.

But Xara... she was trembling.

Her hands clenched into fists at her side.

Her entire body was heavy. Her breath was rough and broken. Everything inside her felt muddy, like she was sinking in her own mistakes.

”...MOM!”

Kaiʼs voice rose. It was louder, cracking with restrained rage.

There was a fury behind it— the kind that didnʼt scream... but burned.

Xaraʼs eyes shut tight. She nodded slightly, almost like it took all her strength just to move her head.

”I... I tried to create a perfect being...” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. ”A being I was searching for... one I believed could exist... I found it in Velcʼs blood.”

Velcʼs face turned pale— truly pale.

His lips parted as the weight of her words slammed into him.

So all this time...

All this time, she had been draining his blood for this?

”For this shit?” he spat.

”T-That means... he too is my—”

”Yes,” Xara whispered. ”Our son.”

There was no hesitation.

She looked directly at Velc when she said it.

Velc staggered back as if he had been punched in the gut. His knees buckled. He fell to the floor, unable to stand.

He stared at the boy inside the tube with wide, horrified eyes.

”H-How could you...” he whispered.

His voice trembled with betrayal, with shock, with something far deeper than hate.

Xaraʼs lips trembled. She looked down, her face breaking.

Vesperine, seeing the opportunity open like a wound, stepped forward with sharper intent.

”So thatʼs it, huh?” she said, her tone teasing, amused, yet cruelly precise. ”You created a perfect being? And what exactly are you trying to achieve, Xara?”

She took another step.

”Donʼt tell me... Kai too was like this? You created him?”

The smirk on her face grew as her voice twisted to provoke.

She wanted to stir the storm— to get Xara to deny it. To break her spirit in front of Kai. To destroy her standing in his heart. If she succeeded, sheʼd own Kai completely.

But—

”...” Xara lowered her head.

Silence.

Real, terrible silence.

Everyone in the room gasped.

Vesperine froze. The smirk dropped from her lips.

She hadnʼt expected that. Not even close.

Her eyes widened.

ʼHoly shit... is she for real?ʼ The thought echoed in her mind, chilling her spine as she stared at Xara with disbelief.

Selene took a step back, blankly staring at her mother. Her lips trembled. She couldnʼt even form a word. Nothing came out.

Leon looked shaken as well... he never expected Kaiʼs mother to be this cruel!

”YOU MONSTER!!” Velc suddenly roared, his voice breaking, his fury unleashed. ”E-Even our children too?! Kai and Selene?! Did you create them like this... this filthy way?! This cursed thing?!”

He spat on the ground, still on his knees, his legs numb with shock and despair.

His hands trembled. His eyes were wild with disbelief, staring from Xara to Kai... and back to the boy in the tube.

Xara immediately shook her head, her voice trembling, ”N-No... I didnʼt create them like this... Kai and Selene, they were born from my womb... I carried them inside me with my own body, and gave birth to th—”

”Then what about this thing?” Vesperine cut in coldly, her voice sharp as she pointed at the tube behind Kai.

Xara gritted her teeth, eyes narrowing. ”I donʼt think I need to answer yo—”

”Answer her,” Kai interrupted, his voice calm, but filled with a chilling certainty. ”She will be my future wife,” he declared with unwavering confidence and conviction—without even a hint of hesitation.

Xaraʼs eyes widened just a little, startled. But then... she gave a weak smile. Her heart was too broken, too exhausted. She knew her children were breaking apart right in front of her eyes, and she had no power to stop it.

Her lips quivered. ”L-Listen, please... we could talk about this lat—”

”Later?” Kaiʼs voice turned cold, eyes still locked on the tube. ”Just how long were you planning to hide this from us, Mom? Huh? If it wasnʼt for my beloved discovering the truth... you wouldʼve kept this secret buried forever, wouldnʼt you?”

He slowly clenched his fist, fingers tightening against the glass. ”Youʼre only acting like this now because she cornered you... She caught you.”

Xara lowered her head, and her eyes welled up with tears.

She had no answer.

Because he was right.

She had planned to take this secret to her grave… and now it was exposed!

Everything she had tried to hide was laid bare in front of the people she loved the most.

ʼIs this... Karma?ʼ she wondered, her body trembling as she glanced toward her daughter—Selene. Her eyes... those broken eyes filled with shock and betrayal... were far more painful than any punishment.

”D-Donʼt look at me like that… Dear, please,” Xara pleaded, crawling toward her daughter with desperation in her voice. Her trembling hands reached for Selene, who only stared back in utter silence, her emotions unreadable—frozen.

Vesperine leaned in slightly, a wicked grin forming on her face. Her voice, mocking and sharp, pierced the silence.

”Tell us... Tell us the truth. Tell us everything!” she demanded. ”Your son deserves an answer!” she added, motioning toward Kai, who was still staring blankly at the boy inside the tube—his expression unreadable, eyes unmoving.

Xaraʼs voice cracked as she finally began to speak, the weight crushing her throat. ”I... I found something different in Velcʼs blood... For research purposes. His father and I made a deal... I would take care of his family, and in return, Iʼd receive access to Velcʼs blood.”

”Grandpa too...?” Kai asked quietly, as if the truth was too painful to speak louder.

”Grandpa?” Selene echoed.

”My father?” Velcʼs eyes widened in disbelief.

All three of them—Kai, Selene, and Velc—stared at Xara in complete shock.

Vesperineʼs smirk grew. The twisted story was getting deeper, darker—far more fascinating than she had imagined.

Xara slowly nodded. ”...Yes. With the deal in place, I received Velcʼs blood and began binding it to my own...”

”I... I...” she stammered, unable to even finish the sentence.

”Tell us, Mom,” Selene whispered, her voice trembling. She was barely holding it together—barely breathing. She needed to hear it.

Xara bit down on her quivering lips, her whole body shaking now. Tears spilled from her eyes as she confessed:

”I designed you two... and gave birth to both of you. Selene... you were a failed subject. Kai... only half of what I had hoped for. So I used the lost data and... collected Kaiʼs blood... and from it... I cloned him—a new life. One thatʼs growing inside that tube.”

The words barely came out.

But she said them.

Words that were never meant to leave her mouth.

Words that shattered everything.

Thud!

Seleneʼs legs gave out beneath her.

”Ah? I... I canʼt move... I... ha... Me... I...” Her voice cracked into pieces as her entire body began to tremble uncontrollably.

Xara rushed forward and fell beside her, wrapping her arms tightly around her daughter. ”No! No, no, no, my dear... I really love you... I do! Please, donʼt think like that! Yes, I... did wrong... but I truly, deeply love my children... Please, donʼt hate Mommy... please, I beg you...”

Her tears were uncontrollable now, streaming down as she held Selene close. Her voice was desperate, soaked in guilt and raw fear.

But Selene didnʼt respond.

She just stared blankly at the empty wall—expressionless, hollow.

Even Selene... her beloved daughter, her favourite... couldnʼt bear to handle this truth.

Let alone Kai.

”Love us?” Kai said finally, his voice low and detached. But Xara heard it—the tremble beneath the surface.

That crack.

He was shaking too.

Vesperine only smirked, her satisfaction bubbling.

This family was shattered.

She had won.

But even she hadnʼt expected to find something so wicked, so blasphemous. If the truth got out... if the Temple found out what Xara had done...

Sheʼd be arrested.... Executed.

Creating a life in an unethical manner... it goes against the very gods!!

And Vesperine… could use this.

All of it.

But her thoughts shattered when—

”If you truly love us...” Kai began slowly, his voice cold but certain, ”...then thereʼs no need for this thing, right?”

Before anyone could move, Kaiʼs fingers flared with a bright light—his sword appeared instantly.

”No—!” Xara screamed, her eyes widening in horror.

BOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!

The entire underground facility exploded.

The blast roared like a dragonʼs scream, tearing through the stone, earth, and sky.

The surface trembled. The whole area erupted.

The explosion launched everyone into the air.

Xara and Selene were thrown skyward—but in the next instant, a figure blurred through the smoke.

Strong arms caught them mid-air, cradling their bodies before landing back onto the ground with a heavy thud.
