The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 737: Chapter 729: Can’t Intervene (2)

Xia Wenjin smiled and said, ”You’re right. I had someone stay by Gongyang Puyu’s side for three days. Although the information we obtained wasn’t much, by piecing together the cause and effect, and integrating it with your information, we’ve formed a complete chain of intelligence. Gongyang Puyu, relying on the Stargazing Method Fragment, believes he has foresight and aims to rise to a prominent position in the future. To accomplish this, he needs to first have the merit of serving the dragon. He has long been in collusion with Huangfu Yuxuan. Maybe he used some Secret Technique to determine what kind of birth date and eight characters of a woman Huangfu Yuxuan should marry to bring him great help, so he doesn’t hesitate to marry me, a woman from Jianghu! Now, Gongyang Puyu appears to be close to Prince Zhuang, but in truth, he is just using Prince Zhuang! This indicates that Huangfu Yuxuan is indeed plotting for the position of Imperial Grandson!”

In my past life, there were doubts I could never unravel; now I finally know.

Huangfu Yuxuan’s plotting was not mere speculation; I was aware of it in my past life.

She glanced again at Huangfu Jingchen, her gaze somewhat peculiar. Huangfu Jingchen said, ”It seems so, but Wenjin, is there something inappropriate in the way you’re looking at me?”

Xia Wenjin shook her head and smiled; how could there be anything inappropriate?

In her past life, she didn’t even know there was a Huangfu Jingchen among the Imperial Grandsons. It must truly have been that Prince Zhuang and Huangfu Yuxuan achieved their ambitions, but fortunately, it would not be the case in this life.

After the events at Fengming Manor, surely all of Huangfu Jingchen’s calamities have passed, right?

She would see Mo Qingfeng and ask again!

Or maybe she could also visit Master Kong Chan!

Xia Wenjin said, ”Will you stop it?”

Huangfu Jingchen thought for a moment, then shook his head and smiled, ”Huangfu Yuxuan has always been scheming; there’s no doubt about that, but he might not succeed. Those who desire that position will compete with him on their merits, and Grandfather will also have his judgments! Even if I wanted to interfere, I couldn’t! Because I don’t know, if he is not suitable, it doesn’t mean others are!”

Xia Wenjin understood; since all crows under heaven are just as black, the one who ultimately wins will be just as black!

She thought, given the Emperor’s dislike and suspicion toward Prince Cheng, he has already been completely ruled out. Then Prince Xin, Prince Lu, and Prince Li, in the past life, were all eyeing that position with red eyes. None of them considered the lives and deaths of the common people, the welfare of those citizens; blood flowed like rivers. Even as the troops of Fire Flame Country approached, there were no soldiers or food in the court, which led to Prince Cheng’s whole family dying in battle for the country, letting the tiny nation of Fire Flame occupy ten cities and three passes, nearly turning the whole of Yunzhou into Fire Flame Country’s ranch.

But what was the Court doing? What were the Princes doing? They were all fighting for that position, with no time for the border turmoil, no time to deal with the lives and deaths of the people in war-torn areas, no time to reclaim lost territories.

When Huangfu Yuxuan ascended to the throne, Nanxia was severely weakened. To ensure the smooth holding of the enthronement ceremony, he even sent emissaries carrying the map of Yunzhou’s three counties, giving the remaining counties of Yunzhou to Fire Flame Country as a condition for peace!

But the throne is the Emperor’s throne. If Huangfu Jingchen intervenes, it would be seen as coveting that position, attracting backlash from those people first. He cannot meddle, at least not now!

The carriage swayed gently as it entered the city.

Huangfu Yuxuan’s carriage had been following along. As he looked at the blue-cloth carriage ahead, he felt both anger and hatred, yet his face remained as calm as clouds and wind.

A sudden sound of wind came from outside the carriage window, and Huangfu Yuxuan barked, ”Come in!”

A gray-clad figure appeared in the carriage in the blink of an eye, without stopping the carriage, just causing the curtain to flutter. It was Huangfu Yuxuan’s Hidden Guard, who clasped his hands and reported, ”Young Master, there’s something at the mansion; please return quickly!”

”What is it?”

The Hidden Guard said in a low voice, ”The Prince is preparing to establish a Princely Heir!”

Establish a Princely Heir? He didn’t know about it, clearly indicating that Father was not intending to make him Princely Heir!

His elder brother Huangfu Hongyi, who is just as incompetent as Father, what qualifications does he have to be Princely Heir?

How delightful, nearly the whole of Prince Liang Mansion is under his control, yet Father still has thoughts of Huangfu Hongyi, his eldest son? Taking advantage of his absence, secretly preparing to establish a Princely Heir, drafting a memorial? Preparing to submit it before the Emperor?

With a slightly cold tone, he said, ”Speed up, return to the mansion quickly!”

The driver responded, ”Yes!” and with a flick of the whip, the carriage suddenly raced forward.

The blue-cloth carriage ahead continued to move leisurely, but at this moment, Huangfu Yuxuan couldn’t care about it anymore and quickly sped past, heading into the city.

Prince Liang Mansion.

In Prince Liang’s study, both Prince Liang and Huangfu Hongyi were present. Huangfu Hongyi, bloated and obese, had a face that was once somewhat handsome, but now filled with too much flesh, robbing him of the noble grace of an Imperial Grandson and making him resemble a rich family’s playboy.
