The Martial Unity

Chapter 4162: Excessive Request

It wasn’t out of generosity or benevolence that colonial states like the Jarkarthar Federation, which weren’t exactly flush with funds, being in the frontier, donated to the Blood Humanist Society.

It was out of self-interest as well. The reality was that the Blood Cult had become a bit of a menace within Gaian Civilization, second only to the Evolutionary Army in terms of how much of a threat they were. The advancements in technology allowed for hemosapiens to be manufactured, causing the Blood Cult to manufacture new blood babies in factories and raise them with blood supremacy.

This was an existential threat to the world, especially since hemosapiens were superior to virtually all of the other races, except for, perhaps, the generation of miracles among the Evosapiens. And unfortunately, because they were superior, there was no way to defeat them very easily.

Of course, the gap was not as exaggerated as it used to be, as genetics and genetic evolution had truly become a powerful field of technology, considered a strategic field of technology, much like artificial technology. But the hemosapiens and the evosapiens also had those same fields, so it didn’t close the gap that much.

And since they had managed to maintain their superiority, the simple reality was that it wasn’t possible to defeat them head-on, not without other hemosapiens.

Thus, the Blood Humanist Society became the best force of resistance against the Blood Cult. Arastia recognized this very well herself, learning political savvy as she forged alliances, friendships, and pacts, harnessing the power of human civilization to raise her newfound organization to match a long-established powerhouse cult. This was her strength, and this was the strength of the blood humanism movement.

By getting donations, she could resist blood supremacy better, but she was also indebted to these organizations, requiring her to do them a favor every once in a while in order to ensure that the relationship remained favorable. After all, even if the donations were obviously serving them well, it was hard to spend so much money without seeing any truly concrete returns.

”I know...” The President raised his hand. ”I don’t expect to have the Blood Empress herself come to my aid, especially when you’re clearly busy. But...”

He hesitated. ”I hope you can understand. I can’t afford to have an infected world bloom in the vicinity of my planet. If that thing manages to spread its seed, then...”

She understood his concerns, of course. He had invested tremendously in the Arima III star system and in the Jarkarthar Federation. It would be utterly ruinous if an infected world two star systems away destroyed the colonial polity he had managed to come to rule over.

That was how dangerous infected worlds were.

”Rest assured that I personally will be undertaking this mission,” she spoke with deep confidence. ”I have no intention of allowing the infected world to explode and spread its seed. I will feel it myself, and we have procured a drop of the Tide of Samsara from the Emperor himself.”

The President’s eyes lit up at those words, but she could tell that he wasn’t entirely reassured.

”I am truly relieved to hear that you are going to partake in the mission yourself, given that you are one of the most powerful pathwalkers in human civilization, but I must say...” His tone grew low. ”I was hoping that you would help me contact...”

He gestured lightly with his hands. ”...The Emperor.”

Arastia’s blood-red eyes sharpened. ”...What was that?”

”I didn’t mean to offend.” He raised his hands defensively. ”I am not doubting your skill and your combat prowess, nor your organization’s preparedness. It’s just that... we are indeed dealing with an infected world, are we not? Anything can happen, even with all the preparations. And given that you are His Esteemed Majesty’s sister...”

His voice trailed off, leaving it there.

She heaved a sigh. This was hardly the first time that someone had tried to contact Rui through her. Given that he was the Emperor of Kandria and the Chancellor of Gaia, as well as the most powerful being in human civilization, every single person wanted a piece of him.

”The Emperor of Water does not move easily,” she spoke with a serious tone of voice. ”Even if I were to help you contact him, he would not so much as even consider your request.”

”I will give him anything, all the resources we have, just for five minutes of his time to rid that dastardly infected world!” The President pleaded with her. ”Please, Blood Empress, please help me contact him!”

She simply huffed, shaking her head.

”You don’t understand.”

Her blood-red eyes glinted with a hint of scorn.

”Just the fact that you beg for his help makes you the party of humanity that he would rather see destroyed.”

President Sermoun’s eyes widened at those words.

”The Emperor does not heed the calls of help for the weak, for he wishes to see human civilization strong,” Arastia coldly informed him. ”You can forget about any fantasy you have of the Martial Transcendent personally coming to rid an infected world.”

She got up, directing a frosty glance at him. ”If there’s nothing else, then I’ll get going. Please contact our branch office if you have other needs that are more amenable. I will ensure that you get priority. Then...”

She turned around, walking away from the office with an unfazed expression, while the President’s expression was grim. He was frustrated that he couldn’t even say anything to her. The reality was that she had far greater leverage over him than he did over her, and she was a very powerful figure in human civilization. .

However, he had managed to glean something useful.

At the very start of the conversation.

After she fully left, he immediately pulled out his secured line of communication, activating the commpad and making a call.

”Listen,” he spoke into the commpad with an urgent tone. ”There’s some important niece of the Blood Empress that recently made a purchase of ten billion credits and had it sent to the Blood Humanist Society. Find out who it is and report back to me, we might be able to use that person as a card against the Blood Empress to get her to compel the Emperor of Water to personally intervene.”
