The Martial Unity

Chapter 4134: Upgrading Consciousness

He immediately activated his Realms of power, his Gene Realm, as well as his Martialverse.

His target was his own brain.

The neurons that comprised it.

”Electricity is slow.”

The bioelectric signals that ran from neuron to neuron were simply unsuited for the goals that he needed to fulfill within a reasonable amount of time.

”Time to upgrade to light.”

In the past, such an upgrade would have been utterly nonsensical to even comprehend. Even with his Gene Realm and Martial Soul, having his cognition run on light signals instead of bioelectric signals was a ludicrous goal to have.

And yet, he simply got to work.

The Forge of Creation roared to life as he began constructing a blueprint and model for what his brain would look like. However, it would function and would end up ensuring that his consciousness was not affected in any way.

To an extent, part of his inspiration was, of course, the laminar integuments. With light coursing through their very body, they had a truly unparalleled cognition. He knew that one of the reasons that Tendril of Light had been able to keep up with him as well as it had was due to the fact that the creature’s speed of thought was truly unparalleled.

In order for his neurons to be able to conduct light, they would need to be transparent and, more importantly, they would need to be able to conduct light along a path.

Thankfully, that technology already existed.

”Fiber optics cables.”

They were technologies that were already considered extremely archaic by modern standards, even if effective enough to still be worth using in certain circumstances.

Now, he could use a similar technology for his neurons.

He would need to recreate plasticity as optical density, and he would need to come up with a different model of storage. He would need to ensure that the integrated information of his consciousness remained intact without anything ever changing even in the slightest, otherwise he could potentially lose his Enlightenment of Self and, consequently, his phenomenological uniformity.

He immediately got started.

The core tools of this particular operation were, of course, his good old handy quantum tweezers, his Martial Soul, and his Gene Realm. He began changing his neurons towards the desire model of photonic neurology.

A process that was doomed to fail under ordinary circumstances.

It was impossible to change neurons from a bioelectric form of neurology to a photonic form without catastrophic consequences due to inevitable failures.

And yet, he was a Martial Transcendent.

”Neurology is Water.”

Everything, of course, was Water. That included the fundamental mechanics of his consciousness. And if it were water, then it meant that it could adaptively evolve, it could change at its very fundamental nature, it could flow to a different state of reality and existence itself.

It was impossible, and yet before the might of his Martialverse, nothing was truly impossible.

His neurology warped as the mode of his consciousness shifted from bioelectric to photonic. His neurons no longer passed electric impulses to each other; they passed light signals to each other.

His brain became a hive of light. To his surprise, this didn’t change his phenomenology in the slightest. It didn’t change his experience of the world all that much, surprisingly enough.

But it did change

”The information matters more than the underlying.”

His thought surged at the speed of causality itself, growing exponentially faster by the second. His consciousness ballooned by a truly astronomical degree, growing greater and greater.

It allowed him to process the information of Gaia’s existence to such an extraordinary degree that what might have otherwise taken even him a truly long time was now whittled down to a more manageable degree.

The fact that it would take him time, even still, despite the upgrade to his mind, spoke to the sheer depth of the information that he was dealing with. Gaia was a truly astronomically massive planet, the biggest they had ever come across in their entire lives anywhere in the universe.

And the sheer amount of information that she contained in her every existence was greater than anything else that he had ever processed in his entire life.

RUMBLE

By the time he was done, ten days had passed.

Within his photonic consciousness, he managed to document and record the information of Gaia.

WHOOSH

He returned to the manifold ten days later.

”I have what you need.”

He handed them a vial of blood.

The immortal sages simply stared at him with a dumbfounded expression.

”What... what do you mean?” The Informationalist frowned at his words.

”The information of Gaia,” Rui insisted. ”I converted it into biochemical memory and stored it in a sample of my blood. You can extract the information, compile it, and extract the life equation of Gaia from it.”

The immortal sages stared at him with a dumbfounded expression as Julian accepted the vial of blood like it was a priceless treasure.

WHOOSH...

They turned towards Rui, who had begun fading from the very existence of reality.

”See you soon,” he remarked before he completely disappeared.

He left the three immortal sages simply staring at him with a bewildered expression. He had said that he would help them with the information about Gaia, but they had not expected that he would get the job done in the span of ten days.

They knew that he was extraordinary, of course, but was this not truly absurd?

Gathering the complete and total information blueprint of an existence like Gaia was something that would easily be in the absolute impossibility territory. It was only thanks to the fact that Martial Transcendents could violate the law of causality that such a thing was even remotely possible.

And yet, he had delivered it to them in just ten years.

”With this... we can achieve a life equation within the next ten years,” the informationalist realized. ”In real time, that would be a little under nine months.” .

”He’s truly serious about conquering ten thousand stars in ten years, isn’t he?” The Divine Doctor heaved a deep breath. ”Well, we must do our best if he’s willing to go this far for the sake of Gaia and the future of human civilization.”

The immortal sages resumed their work on developing a Gaian seed at full speed, eager to match the dedication that the Emperor of Water had displayed.
