Others Summon Dragons, I Summon Legendary Knights

Chapter 507: It Was The Sun

Kill it.

That was the first thought that jumped into his mind. Three years of raiding dungeons had carved a deep, almost reflexive instinct into him.

He couldn’t stand lying on the ground. Completely vulnerable. He felt the earth shake as the wolf landed before him. The stench of the beast hit him first.

Godfrey lifted his eyes. It was a towering creature. So tall that he couldn’t see its face now that the wolf stood right before him.

His eyelids suddenly grew heavy, and his thoughts sank. Right beside his face, a massive sword plunged deep, yet he didn’t even move.

Crimson liquid, once warm, tainted the white snow all around him. Godfrey stared at the barely visible sky, hidden behind the snowflakes. They fell like flowers of ice placed before his grave. The distant wind wailed like a lover mourning beside a grave.

It called. That entity known as death. The inevitable. He couldn’t see it, but he could feel it all around him. Welcoming him.

Strength slipped out like water through cupped hands. This feeling was surreal, unimaginable, and inviting.

That which he ran from was here.

Before the last of his strength could leave, before his eyes shut to this world forever, Godfrey stared at the wolf that bent its head. It looked smug.

”D—Damn you.” Yeah. Once, he never cursed because his mother didn’t want it. Now he did. To taunt the beast. Although his voice wasn’t more than a whisper, the wolf’s ears twitched.

It grabbed him by the neck, lifting him up like he was some pebble. His feet dangled lifelessly. There was no strength to even resist.

Godfrey kept his eyes wide open. He would die staring straight into this wolf’s eyes. ’Open your other eye. Ope...’

Perhaps it was his unwavering stare that provoked the wolf. It opened that other eye. Deep blue eye without an iris.

’Don’t look!’ a voice screamed, warning him. His eyelids almost shut. No. Godfrey fought it. If that happened, it would be the end for him.

He stared back.

And... and....

His thought ended.

The wolf let go of the corpse. It looked like something caked with ash and soot. It sank into the snow.

With a grunt, the giant wolf pulled out its sword, spun, and walked away. In its other hand was the dagger.

Hundreds of wolves bent their heads, paying their respects to their king. Then, they raised their heads to the sky, ushering loud, proud howls. They celebrated their king’s effortless victory.

The giant wolf leaped to the stone platform. It landed and transformed into a golden-haired young man. The wolf examined his new body. It flexed unfamiliar fingers. Another vessel.

In Godfrey’s skin, it sat, holding the mighty sword. Sifting through memories while the snowfall slowly buried the dead.

The other wolves didn’t bother approaching. They didn’t need much intelligence to know what happened to whoever saw the Eye. There was no flesh there. Only a husk of soot and ash.

Isolde sat on her bed, legs folded, trying to force herself back to Pathan. It was blocked.

Unease coiled tighter in her chest. She tried teleporting to Paradise but couldn’t. Her memory of Godfrey’s house was vivid, so it could either be two things.

Either the place had changed too much for her memory to anchor to it... or something was blocking her.

”Godfrey...” she muttered. Her heart was pounding with increasing momentum. None of the others really had phones they held most of the time.

She looked at the ceiling, holding back the urge to scream.

’I feel your pain, Mother, but you need to be here,’ Grace said in her mind.

”Not right now.” Isolde stormed out of the room. She was getting to Godfrey one way or another. What did it mean for someone’s soul to collapse in his own soul space?

Her mind refused to provide an answer.

’Godfrey can handle himself. You need to be here.’

Isolde froze when Grace said it. Her heart boiled furiously. She spun, appearing in the dragon domain with a testy expression.

Isolde looked at the sky in disbelief. Aion, the red dragon, was up there. Not alone. There were dozens of massive wyverns, with sizes that matched a dragon as big as Aion, attacking him.

Smoke and blood dripped from his wounds. His neck had sustained grave injuries, yet he fought. Some wyverns must have fallen before they could inflict that blow on him.

She hoped that this was the problem, but—

The skies were filled with wyverns and dragons in fierce, brutal battle. Where did these large wyverns come from?

Isolde felt torn. She didn’t know what had gone wrong with Godfrey, and now there was war in her domain.

A number of fledgling dragons had become victims, along with their mothers. Rage ignited within her, flaring and burning like fire as her armour manifested over her body.

Deep within her, Isolde knew this attack had a source. The Father of Dragons. He was out for her, this time to completely wreck her domain.

This meant he planned to replace her.

Like an answer to her rage, the sky darkened over the winged creatures dancing, breathing and blasting flames as claws tore each through scales.

Luthor dipped, maw wide open, aiming for where a good number of great wyverns were heading, toward a mother desperately trying to protect her eggs from those already around her.

Luthor’s purple flames swallowed the space. It covered hundreds of feet, turning massive predators into burning offerings plunging toward the ground.

’Frey... Please. Survive. I need you.’ Isolde made a quiet prayer as she turned to the lava behind her. Another wyvern was making its way out.

It was much bigger than the others. What kind of wyverns were these?

She leaped. Red cloth rippled in the air as she descended into the maw of the volcano.

”Did you get a good look at who it was?” A bearded policeman examined the place Godfrey had fallen. Blood stained the pavement.

”I didn’t.” A lanky officer said, arms crossed.

”It was the Golden Devil,” another retorted. His plump size, a little too much for a responsible officer.

The hair on the forearms of the man examining stood on end. He snapped toward the plump officer. ”A... are you certain of what you’re saying?”

”I know what I saw,” the plump man said firmly.

”It was dark. We were over a hundred feet away when he vanished. There are many people with blonde hair. How are you so sure it was him?” The lanky officer raised an eyebrow at his partner.

”It wasn’t that dark. I could se—” He froze.

His jaw fell slack. The other officers also had similar expressions. All of them stared at the sky.

Dear God... It was the sun.

The entire world seemed to pause, eyes skyward, as the rays of the sun slowly tore away the darkness that had lasted for months without end.

Meanwhile, in the chill of the Wolf Valley, the index finger of that ignored husk twitched.
