Supreme Emptiness

Chapter 1854: Chapter 1896: The Little Whip’s First Strike

Spirit Sound said lightly, ”When it’s too quiet, you start itching to move. I wanted to go out for a walk and see an old acquaintance.”

She picked up her wine cup and toasted him from afar.

Is that so?

Jiang Fan looked at the wine cup in front of him, hesitated for a moment, then picked it up.

But he didn’t drink it. Instead, he snatched away the cup Spirit Sound had drunk from. ”I’ll drink yours!”

The wine Spirit Sound drank from shouldn’t have any problem, right?

Spirit Sound shook her head, took the fresh wine, and drained it in one go.

Jiang Fan hesitated as he stared at the cup in his hand.

Seeing the red lipstick mark on the rim, he turned the cup, found a spot without a lip print, and carefully took a tiny sip.

It actually tasted kind of fragrant.

”I’ll just have a taste, that’s enough to see you off.”

Jiang Fan set the cup down and cupped his hands. ”I wish Fellow Daoist Spirit Sound a safe journey... eh... I... why am I...”

The moment that drop of wine dissolved in his mouth, Jiang Fan felt the world spin, his vision went black, and he collapsed face-first onto the table, falling soundly asleep.

Before losing consciousness, he had only one thought.

Fuck!

He fell for this old woman’s trick!

Spirit Sound put her cup down and pressed her lips together in a smile. ”Young people nowadays, just topple over and sleep.”

She came to stand in front of Jiang Fan,伸出纤纤玉手,贴在了江凡的头上.

”I’ve saved you three times. The first time, I plucked a leaf from your Void Ancient Tree.”

”The second time, I’ll just snap off a branch of the Void Ancient Tree and forge a sword out of it.”

Perhaps because plucking leaves and breaking branches were different in difficulty, this time she specifically knocked Jiang Fan out before making a move.

She closed her eyes, and her Heart Spirit dove into the deepest part of Jiang Fan’s soul.

She saw that towering giant tree whose crown could not be seen.

”Who would dare believe that the Void Ancient Tree would actually be inside a seemingly ordinary youth?”

”No, perhaps it’s not that Jiang Fan is ordinary.”

”It’s just that I failed to see what’s special about him.”

Spirit Sound’s lotus steps moved lightly as she walked beneath the Void Ancient Tree, her jade hand gently closing around a section of branch.

Just as she was about to snap it off—

A green afterimage like a vine lashed across her wrist.

Hiss!

Spirit Sound abruptly pulled back her hand and fixed her gaze on the top of the ancient tree. ”Who’s there?”

A hoarse, ancient voice drifted down from the crown of the tree:

”Little girl, you took a leaf and now you want to break off a branch.”

”Next time, are you planning to move the whole tree away?”

Spirit Sound’s eyes, indifferent for ten thousand years, suddenly shrank. ”You are...”

As if she had guessed what kind of existence the old man was, she quickly retreated.

The old, raspy voice said slowly:

”For the sake of how decent you’ve been to this kid, I’ll let you off.”

”If it were someone else, they wouldn’t be leaving...”

The next instant.

Spirit Sound’s awareness returned to her body, and she jerked her hand back from Jiang Fan’s head as if shocked by electricity.

A burning sting spread from her wrist.

She raised her hand for a look, and Spirit Sound’s expression changed slightly.

On her wrist, there was actually a vine-shaped pattern!

The attack she suffered in her consciousness had actually manifested on her physical body!

She flicked her hand, trying to erase it, but the vine pattern didn’t budge, as if branded into her.

”This is...” Spirit Sound frowned slightly.

Just as she was puzzled, Jiang Fan slowly woke up.

Seeing Spirit Sound right beside him, he grew angry. She had actually set him up. Fortunately, the Void Ancient Tree had woken him, not letting Spirit Sound succeed.

”Old woman, what were you trying to do to me?”

Jiang Fan grabbed for Spirit Sound’s wrist.

Spirit Sound was a bit surprised that Jiang Fan woke up so quickly. She lifted her hand for a casual wave, intending to send Jiang Fan out of Baihua Valley.

But as soon as she moved, she realized that she was like an ordinary mortal body—utterly powerless.

By the time she reacted, Jiang Fan had already seized her wrist.

The moment their skin touched, Spirit Sound felt her body go soft; she didn’t even have the strength to stand and fell straight into Jiang Fan’s arms.

Her pupils contracted slightly, and she hurriedly looked to the vine pattern on her wrist.

She immediately understood what was going on!

That old man had branded her with some unknown mark. The closer she was to Jiang Fan, the less strength she had.

If there was physical contact, she would even turn into a doll for Jiang Fan to play with as he pleased!

Jiang Fan, still seething, froze. ”You... what’s wrong with you?”

Feeling the soft, fragrant beauty in his arms, as if he could squeeze her into a ball, he felt a sense of unreality.

Spirit Sound... just fell into his arms like this?

Breathing in the unique, faint fragrance from her hair, feeling the twin warm softness pressing against his chest, looking at those delicately furrowed brows and that breathtaking face right before his eyes—

Jiang Fan’s heart couldn’t help but start beating faster.

But remembering how devious she was, he shivered and snapped back to clarity. ”You’re not pretending to be weak and trying to set me up again, are you?”

He tried pinching Spirit Sound’s cheek.

It was very smooth and quite cool, her skin very thin; just a light pinch left a red mark.

Seeing that Spirit Sound didn’t move at all and offered no resistance, he was delighted.

”You really are weak, huh?”

”Don’t tell me you drank that wine yourself and got caught in your own trap?”

”You actually made such a low-level mistake? Hahaha!”

Spirit Sound’s pretty brows knit slightly. ”Let go...”

She found she didn’t even have the strength to scold!

Jiang Fan pinched her snow-white, cool chin and smiled. ”Still trying to act fierce with me?”

”Be honest. Why did you drug me?”

”You’ve never done anything without a purpose. This definitely wasn’t on a whim—you’d already planned to knock me out!”

Spirit Sound tried to pull away from Jiang Fan’s embrace, but she had no strength at all, and slumped limply against his chest.

”You... let go... and I’ll tell you...”

Jiang Fan narrowed his eyes at her. ”Forget it. Your mind runs too deep; you might not answer honestly.”

”You might even try to set another trap for me.”

”I’d better keep my distance from you.”

Spirit Sound secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Who knew Jiang Fan would add, ”But I can’t just let the matter of you drugging me slide.”

”You need to remember this lesson!”

This time Jiang Fan had really taken a rare tumble.

If Spirit Sound had harbored ill intent, he’d already be a dead man!

The thought alone made his back go cold.

If it weren’t for how many times Spirit Sound had helped him, just for drugging him he would’ve already drawn his sword and chopped off her head!

Spirit Sound had a bad feeling and said weakly, ”What... do you want to do?”

Jiang Fan took out a small black leather whip, with tassels at the end.

It didn’t really look like a proper whip.

”I’ve never used this little whip since I got it. First time trial, I’ll inaugurate it on you!”

”I’m sure after a good whipping, you’ll remember this lesson!”

A hint of shame and anger surged into Spirit Sound’s eyes, and she struggled with difficulty. ”Don’t you dare...”

Crack!

Jiang Fan swung it down right across her butt.

Ow~

Spirit Sound let out a soft sound. It didn’t actually hurt much, but when it struck her body, it felt like a jolt of electricity.

But this was only the beginning.

Crack, crack, crack!

With each stroke of the little whip, Spirit Sound’s body twisted in Jiang Fan’s arms, her expression filled with humiliation, her snow-white cheeks flushing with a faint pink.

”That’s for drugging me. For drugging me. Still daring to do it again?”

Jiang Fan only felt appeased after giving her nine lashes in a row.

”Remember these nine lashes!”

”If you ever drug me again, it’ll be eighty-one lashes next time!”

”Hmph!”

He released Spirit Sound and, satisfied, backed his way out of Baihua Valley.

As Jiang Fan moved farther from Spirit Sound, the vine pattern on her wrist grew increasingly faint. From collapsing weakly on the ground, Spirit Sound slowly pushed herself back to her feet.

When the pattern finally vanished completely, she recovered all her strength.

Feeling the lingering tingling from that electric jolt across her butt, her peerlessly beautiful face flushed once again with a soft red.

She gazed off into the distance, lightly pursing her red lips:

”You’ve had your fun. Now it’s my turn.”
