Chapter 171: First and Last Warning

Rex and Adhara came out of the cave with heavy breaths, they manage to get out of the cave without substantial injury.

The black spiders follows them until the end of the cave, but they didnʼt go out.

Itʼs not that theyʼre afraid of the light,

But their eyes look to the right as their bodies emit a black aura, the horde of black spiders then run back inside hurriedly.

Seeing this, Rex frowns, ʼTheyʼre scared? But what are they scared off?ʼ

Their fear aura got sensed by Rex thanks to his Bleak Sense, it will notify Rex if any living being felt fear around him.

”What happened to you? Where are those black spiders came from?”, Edward asks in confusion, he didnʼt see any black spiders when he left them.

Kyran is leaning sitting on the ground and lean on a rock, he already felt better now.

Adhara puts her hands on her waist in exhaustion and said, ”They come out of nowhere”

”Alright, this cave is filled with black spiders lets check the other one”, Rex said before the group finds another cave.

Prof. Nolan is currently smoking beside a car, his job here is to supervise the researchers and scientists regarding the canyon.

With the help of Awakened, he didnʼt scared of anything.

But while he was smoking, a guy approached him from the side casually.

He looks at the guy who approached him casually with a frown, he can instantly smell trouble just by looking at him.

”Prof. Nolan, may I join you for a smoke?”, the guy said.

While squinting his eyes, Prof. Nolan takes out a lighter and replied, ”Yes”

The guy then takes out his smoke before Prof. Nolan lights it with his lighter, he then leans on the car with a cigarette in hand.

Prof. Nolan looks at him and asks, ”What are you doing here? Do you have permission?”

”Iʼm not here for the canyon donʼt worry, I just want to ask a few questions if you donʼt mind”, the guy said with an innocent smile.

But then, his smiling expression turns serious, ”Is Rex Silverstar here?”

”Who might that be? I donʼt recall any Rex coming here”, Prof. Nolan lied casually.

Heʼs not afraid of the guy in front of him even when the guy in front of him emits his aura, there are many FAA members here and Prof. Nolan is not worried.

Hurting him here would mean death to the guy,

”Please Professor, I didnʼt bring any ill intent to you”, the guy said with a smile.

Prof. Nolan scoffs hearing this, heʼs not bothered at all by the malicious smile the guy has, ”Yes, thereʼs a student named Rex came here”

Hearing this, the guy smiles.

”Is he going to come here again?”, the guy asks while smoking.

Prof. Nolan look at the guy and said, ”That guy is a dear student of Vargas, I hope you didnʼt plan on doing something to him”

The guy laughs lightly, he then waves his hands and left with a mysterious smile.

After the guy left, another person approach Prof. Nolan from the back.

If Rex was here, he will recognize the person as Ari the guy who is sent by the Reed Family to protect him.

Rex already told Ari to stay outside of the canyon, he will be looking out for anyone suspicious that might want to enter the canyon.

The matter with the Platchi Family is not finished, and Rex is not foolish enough to let his guard down even the slightest bit.

”Who is that guy? Why is he asking for Rex?”, Ari said.

Prof. Nolan looks at the guyʼs back who is walking away and said, ”I saw a tattoo on his hand, it is the black tiger tattoo”

Hearing this, Ari looks at his front while he mumbles, ”Black Tiger huh”

He then left Prof. Nolan before he calls someone, ”Sir, thereʼs a member of the Black Tiger Guild searching for Rex”

”Yes, itʼs only one person”, Ari replied.

”Alright sir, I will do as you said immediately”, After hanging up, Ari turns into a shadow as he vanished from his spot.

Rex and the others finally got out of the canyon,

After hours of searching, they found no other mutated animals even after they went into more than five caves.

But nevertheless, itʼs evident there are mutated animals here.

ʼThe other caves are very shallow, the best cave will be the cave with the black spiders in it but should I take the risk?ʼ, Rex thought.

From the caves he visited after the black spiders, all of them are shallow.

It will not be suitable for their hideout because even if they didnʼt get exposed directly, they will still be near the moonlight.

Aside from that, if Kyran transforms his scream will certainly be heard.

So for now, the cave with the black spiders in it is the only suitable cave that he found.

Rex and the others got out of the canyon with no injury, the injury Rex and Adhara sustained is already healed by now.

It didnʼt leave a single scar on their bodies.

”Whereʼs Ari?”, Rex asks after looking left and right, he told Ari to stay outside to keep a lookout but he canʼt find him anywhere now.

Rex looks at Kyran before Kyran shakes his head, he also canʼt sense Ari nearby.

ʼDid something happened? but heʼs a rank six, so if something did happen there would be chaosʼ, Rex thought.

He then shakes his head before they left the canyon after bidding Prof. Nolan goodbye.

In the middle of the night,

Rex opened his eyes as he felt his body shivering, his body is trembling non-stop as the cold wind pierced his body.

From the moment he became a Werewolf, he never felt cold.

His body becomes warmer than a regular human, and cold wind or even snow in the antarctic will probably not make him shiver like this.

ʼSystem, What is happening?ʼ, Rex asks.

Reading this, Red looks at his stats and found that the Yule Moon is 23 hours near.

He then looks at his side and found Adhara too is shivering, even her lips become blue in coldness because of the Yule Moon.

Both of them are meditating, but Rex stops after feeling that his body is cold.

Rex then snuggle closer to Adhara trying to find some warmth,

But upon touching Adharaʼs body, thereʼs a sharp cold pain that strikes Rexʼs body part that touches Adharaʼs body.

It makes Rex jolted as he creates a distance with Adhara,

Adharaʼs body also jolted, ”Ouch!”, she groans in pain.

She opened her eyes and rubs the source of the pain while looking at Rex, ”What is that?”

”Itʼs the next Full Moon, this is the effect it has on Werewolves”, Rex said with a sigh, he really hates this full moon.

ʼDamn it, this must be the worst full-moonʼ, Rex thought before he go to the other room and sleep there, it will be better for both of them.

The next morning,

Rex opened his eyes before he walks outside his room,

His body felt drained and the cold air still lingers in the air, it feels like a hungover where every part of his body felt drained.

Going out of his room, Rex was suddenly greeted by one of his miad.

It was Clarice, ”Sir, thereʼs a man called Ari who wishes to meet you in front”, she said meekly.

Hearing this, Rex nodded his head before he went out to meet with Ari.

Rex goes outside and meets Ari who looks completely normal, he frowns before he said, ”Where were you? I told you to keep a lookout”

”My apologies Sir, just a rat problem”, Ari said assuringly.

Hearing this, ”Is it the Platchi Family?”

”Yes Sir, they sent a guy to find your whereabouts but I already dealt with them”, Ari said, he said that as if itʼs an easy thing to do.

Rex then said, ”I shouldʼve dealt with them sooner, I thought that they will not bother me for quite some time but who wouldʼve thought theyʼre rushing to die”

After saying that, Rex wanted to go back to his room but stopped when he heard what Ari said.

”Itʼs okay Sir, I guarantee you that they wonʼt bother you anymore”, Ari said with a meaningful look.

Rex turns to his back with a frown, ʼHuh? Did they killed Duncan?ʼ

Last night, After the call,

Ari went to the guy that just ask Rexʼs location to Prof. Nolan, he stalks the guy who seems to go back to the Platchi Familyʼs mansion.

The night was cold, and the guy tidied his coatʼs collar to block the coldness.

But when heʼs about to make a turn, he got goosebumps as he felt something approaching him from the back fast.

Before he can do anything,

BAM!

His head got hit by something from the back making him bouncing away, the hit was heavy and his head started to bleed because of it.

Ari appeared in front of the guy with a cold look,

The guy grabs his bleeding head before he looks to the front,

Looking at Ariʼs cold eyes, the guy widened his eyes in shock, ”Ari? What are you doing? Iʼm from the Platchi Family! Weʼre Allies!”

Without even answering, Ari said, ”Sir Stevanus said that your familyʼs contribution has dwindled in these days, was it because of Duncanʼs oldest son trying to get into the High Table”

”Yes, but it will only be temporary”, the guy said hurriedly.

Ari then asks, ”Why are you searching for Rex Silverstar? What business do you have with him?”

”Rex Silverstar killed Sir Duncanʼs son Lucas, it will only be natural to take revenge on him”, the guy explained.

He then added, ”With the help of the Reed Family, we can kill Rex easily. Can you help us?”

The guy said this with a hopeful expression,

In his mind, the Reed Family will definitely help them because this is not a small matter and they are both allies with each other.

ʼIf Reed Family joins in, Rex will be dead!ʼ, the guy thought sinisterly.

But Ariʼs reply makes his train of thought stops abruptly,

”Rex Silverstar is under the Reed Familyʼs protection, hurt him and you will be the enemy of the whole Reed Family”, Ari said fiercely.

”Eh?”, the guy was greatly shocked that even he thought that his ears stopped working.

He canʼt believe what he has just heard, ”There must be somekind of mistake, thereʼs no way weʼre talking about the same guy!”

Ari scoffs before he slashed the guyʼs head cleanly with a wind sword.

The wind sword beheaded the guy instantly without any resistance, the guy didnʼt even know how he died before his head got cut off.

After killing the guy, Ari takes the head and vanished.

A couple of minutes later, Ari arrived at the Platchi Familyʼs mansion with a bloodied head in his right hand.

He walks to the mansion with confident steps,

All of the guards there recognize Ari, it seems itʼs not the first time heʼs there.

Not long, Duncan got out of his mansion with a frown.

He doesnʼt expect to have any visitors in this hour, especially someone from the Reed Family.

”Ari? Why are you barging in here? Although youʼre from the Reed Family, I will not tolerate such behavior in my mansion”, Duncan said in anger.

Itʼs late in the night, and someone barging in will certainly piss any man.

Ari raise the bloodied head in front of him and said, ”Rex Silverstar is under the Reed Familyʼs protection, do this again and the Reed Family will make sure to flattened your mansion and your family”

Hearing this, Duncan was at a loss for words.

The news came as a shock to him, it arrive just after he decided to do anything to kill Rex.

But if that anything involves the Reed Family, he becomes hesitant because not just him but his family will also die.

The night started to rain,

The rain came as if itʼs mocking Duncan that thought he will prevail against Rex, it also acts as a symbol of consequence if he tries to defy the Reed Family.

Death will be the only consequence,

Ari then throws the bloodied head in front of Duncan,

”Consider this the first and the last warning, Sir Duncan”, he said before he left the mansion under everyoneʼs gaze.
