Star Martial Era: The Way of Star Light Cultivation

Chapter 1176: Chapter 468: Ascending to the Supreme Seat

October 31st, Main Hall of Cangming Star Hall.

Cangming Star Lord, Wu Shou, is meeting with Meng Yanhui, the Left Libationer of the Great Chen National Taoist Institute.

With the death of the Qian’an Emperor and the ascension of a new emperor, Meng Yanhui has been promoted to Minister of the Ministry of Rites of Dachen, visiting in person, with significant political implications.

Sitting high on the throne, Cangming Star Lord Wu Shou gazes at Meng Yanhui with a somewhat amused expression and says, ”Left Libationer Meng, your Dachen is currently holding a national funeral, isn’t it?

As the Minister of Rites of Great Chen, why aren’t you presiding over the national funeral and instead coming here?”

The national funeral for the Qian’an Emperor is to last seven days, and today is only the fourth day, which is why the Cangming Star Lord asks this question.

”My Lord, today I come to meet you as the Left Libationer of the Great Chen National Taoist Institute,” Meng Yanhui responds without humility or arrogance.

”Oh, what do you mean?”

”My Lord should know that our late Emperor of Dachen was murdered by that scoundrel Zhao Zhen, the Tianyang Star Lord. This is a national grudge that cannot go unavenged.

The blood feud of our millions of people in Great Chen and our hundred thousand elite of the National Taoist Institute long to bring this traitor to justice, but as our late Emperor has not yet been buried, the State Preceptor has kept national fervor suppressed.

In three days, the national funeral will be completed.

At that time, Great Chen will raise an army of mourning to punish the Tianyang Star Lord, the traitor who killed our Emperor!” Meng Yanhui says emphatically.

”Oh?”

The Cangming Star Lord sits up with interest, ”So, you’re planning to proactively start a war, invade the Dahong Empire, and break into the Tianyang Star Hall? Such courage... I’m impressed.”

After speaking, the Cangming Star Lord laughs again, ”So, are you here to borrow troops or to seek support? Let me say this first, this matter will be addressed only after your Great Chen elite breaks into Dahong’s homeland.”

”My Lord misunderstood. Currently, in the Galaxy Battlefield, the Ancestral Land Cave Heaven of the Alien Race has been established and is about to connect with the Galaxy Battlefield. At the juncture of life and death for the Human Clan, we of Great Chen dare not indulge in such internal strife.

Yet, the blood feud of regicide cannot go unpunished!

Otherwise, everyone would think our Great Chen is weak and can be bullied.

Today they could kill a sovereign; tomorrow they could slaughter millions of our Great Chen citizens.

Blood debts must be paid in blood.

However, in a war to the death between two countries, it is the civilians who suffer the most.

For the sake of the bigger picture and the people, the State Preceptor has decided to choose a day to duel with the Tianyang Star Lord in the Galaxy Battlefield, to decide life and death.

If we win, it will avenge the blood feud of the late Emperor and resolve our national hatred.

If we die, it will also be for the late Emperor’s kindness towards us, with no regrets in our hearts!

This way, it will also minimize the suffering of the common people to the greatest extent.” Meng Yanhui concluded.

Upon hearing this, the Cangming Star Lord laughed heartily, ”A good thing indeed! Have State Preceptor Cheng arrange it as soon as possible, and I will definitely be there to watch.”

”Naturally!”

Saying this, Left Libationer Meng Yanhui bowed again and continued, ”However, there is one more thing to inform my Lord.”

”Speak.”

”My Lord, the blood feud of regicide has been taken upon himself by the State Preceptor to prevent further civilian casualties. However, the Tianyang Star Lord represents the Tianyang Star Hall.

The Tianyang Star Lord murdered our Emperor of Great Chen. If we continue to allow people from the Tianyang Star Hall to walk on our Great Chen soil, it would be our humiliation.

It would also disgrace our late Emperor.

Therefore, the new Emperor has decreed that after the national funeral, Dachen will sever ties with the Tianyang Star Hall.

If anyone from the Tianyang Star Hall crosses our borders, it will be considered a provocation!

They will be executed without mercy!

Moreover, all personnel from the Tianyang Star Hall within our Great Chen territory will be ordered to leave.

Anyone who does not retreat within half a day will be killed!” declared Left Libationer Meng Yanhui.

Upon these words, the Tianyang Star Lord’s eyes narrowed sharply.

A hidden knife finally revealed.

They had been talking aimlessly for a while, but these last few words were the true intent of Meng Yanhui’s visit.

The so-called expulsion of all personnel of the Tianyang Star Hall within Dachen actually meant driving out all branch halls and branch institutes of the Tianyang Star Hall within Dachen.

Those who do not leave will face extermination!

As for why Meng Yanhui waited this long to say this?

The reason is simple.

Twenty years ago, the Cangming Star Hall and the Tianyang Star Hall joined forces to attack the Mingji Star Hall, forcing the Mingji Star Hall to close its buildings, and subsequently compelling Dachen to sign a treaty under duress.

The Cangming Star Hall and the Tianyang Star Hall were allowed to establish branches and branch institutes in various states and counties of Dachen, obtaining certain management rights, and recruiting disciples and developing industries within Dachen.

Now, Dachen wants to expel the branches and branch institutes of the Tianyang Star Hall, naturally needing to inform him.

Otherwise, there could be misunderstandings.

If the Cangming Star Hall and the Tianyang Star Hall join forces again.

That would certainly be lively.

Meng Yanhui’s visit was simply to give him advance notice.

However, it must be said that the timing chosen by Dachen is extremely good.

National funeral, blood feud of regicide.

He can’t find any reason to object.

But...

”Alright, I understand,”

The Cangming Star Lord waved his hand, not giving a definitive answer.

Meng Yanhui said no more, bowed and took his leave.

His purpose had been achieved.

As to how to proceed, it would depend on the choice of the Cangming Star Hall.

But, it’s highly likely they would merely observe.

After all, at this timing, Dachen had all the advantages of time, place, and people.

And held the moral high ground.

After Meng Yanhui left, the Cangming Star Lord turned to Sun Xianzu and Wang Yue, the Great Elder and Second Elder of the Cangming Star Hall, who were present for Meng Yanhui’s visit.

”What do you think?”

”My Lord, this Dachen’s intentions are malicious!”

Second Elder Wang Yue said grimly, ”My Lord, over the past year and more, the power of the Great Chen National Taoist Institute has soared to the point of explosion.

Now, under the pretext of avenging regicide, they are driving all the forces of the Tianyang Star Hall out of Dachen.

Then, the next target to be expelled would likely be our Cangming Star Hall’s forces stationed within Dachen.

Lord, this threat cannot be ignored!

I believe we must intervene!

Even to the extent of supporting Tianyang Star Hall; we cannot allow Dachen to easily expel Tianyang Star Hall’s forces.

Cangming Star Lord, Wu Shou, upon hearing this, lightly nodded his head.

He had noticed this point as well.

However, the difficulty lies in that Dachen is amidst national mourning, under the banner of avenging regicide. This grand justification is enormous.

Say no more, if Cangming Star Hall stands beside Tianyang Star Hall, even if just to support, Cangming Star Hall’s prestige among Dachen civilians will plummet to freezing point.

The common people of Dachen care little about a foolish or non-foolish Emperor, they hardly know.

Conversely, as life improves daily, they attribute this to the role of Dachen’s Emperor.

At this moment, Cheng Yuxiao speaks under the guise of avenging regicide, mobilizing the whole nation in shared enmity.

By then, the elite disciples Cangming Star Hall can recruit next year in Dachen will sharply decrease.

Many of the serving disciples are likely to harbor resentment!

The disciples recruited by Cangming Star Hall within the Great Chen Realm, although disciples of Cangming Star Hall, are inherently aligned with Dachen.

This is also the reason why Cangming Star Hall sends most of the disciples recruited from Dachen to the Galaxy Battlefield.

But of course, these are secondary.

The most important is, Cangming Star Lord himself, holds divergent ideas.

In the next instant, Cangming Star Lord looked at the Great Elder Sun Xianzu, the latter promptly cupped his hands.

”Lord, Mr. Wang’s statement is accurate!

However, times change and power shifts.

The previously weakened Dachen, if we don’t check Tianyang Star Hall, Tianyang Star Hall could easily swallow Dachen, enlarging itself, and after digestion, would turn and attack our Cangming Star Hall.

We also face the same threat, Tianyang Star Hall checks us, preventing us from annexing Dachen.

But now, with twenty years of accumulation and one or two years of rapid progress,

Dachen’s national power has soared, especially Cheng Yuxiao’s combat power, has grown astonishingly.

According to several previous public battles.

Bluntly, Dachen National Taoist Institute now possesses strength in top combat forces that can contend with us and Tianyang Star Hall.

Conversely, neither Tianyang Star Hall nor us can swallow Dachen whole anymore.

Who dares to swallow Dachen must risk losing half their teeth!

Dachen’s threat grows by the day.

And over the years, open and covert struggles between Tianyang Star Hall and our Cangming Star Hall have increased.

Just at this time, Tianyang Star Lord assassinated Dachen’s Emperor, and Dachen plans to wage war against Tianyang Star Hall.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us.”

”Your thoughts are to sit on the mountain and watch the tigers fight?” Cangming Star Lord smiled and asked, Great Elder Sun Xianzu clearly struck a chord with him, but not entirely.

”Lord, merely watching the tigers fight is insufficient.” Great Elder Sun Xianzu says seriously.

”Then how should we proceed?”

”Lord, first, we should let Dachen and Tianyang fight internally, even support it, and secretly incite it!

This way, regardless of who wins or loses in the struggle between Dachen and Tianyang Star Hall, their national power will be greatly weakened, an absolute boon for our Cangming Star Hall.

But this also foretells a crisis for our Cangming Star Hall.

If Dachen expels Tianyang Star Hall’s forces, within two or three years, or five or six, they might try to expel our Cangming Star Hall’s forces too.

We must prepare in advance!

Increase the allocation of cultivation resources, widely recruit disciples, develop elite disciples.

Simultaneously, secretly incite.

Push both sides to fight more intensely!

Every bit of strength they expend now equals two more strength for us in the short term.

Once the moment arrives.

If Dachen grows severely weakened, then we at Cangming Star Hall will effortlessly swallow Dachen, expand ourselves, and then turn to handle and annex Tianyang Star Hall.

If Tianyang Star Hall weakens greatly, then we ally with Tianyang Star Hall, easily gain dominance, and swallow Dachen, reaping greater benefits in the process.

At that time, with Tianyang Star Hall weakened greatly and gaining less while our Cangming Star Hall gains much, naturally we can suppress Tianyang Star Hall, and secure leading position.

If in future, Lord can timely advance to Ninth Tier.

We might even unify the Star Hall, re-enact the grand era of the ancients, and you might truly vie for the position of Star Lord, which is possible.” Great Elder Sun Xianzu says.

”Hahahaha...”

Cangming Star Lord bursts into loud laughter hearing this.

Great Elder Sun Xianzu hit all the right notes with him.

Matching with his own plans, more or less.

After he stops laughing, Cangming Star Lord Wu Shou turns to Second Elder Wang Yue, ”Mr. Wang, what’s your take on this?”

Upon hearing, Second Elder Wang Yue sighs, ”Lord, the Great Elder’s plan is perfect! But I fear Dachen’s development is too rapid, raising a tiger to our harm! Especially Dachen’s growth this past year, it’s too fast.

If this continues, it might truly be a great peril.”

”Mr. Wang, doesn’t matter if it continues or not, as long as Dachen and Tianyang Star Hall war, their strength will be greatly consumed, do you agree?” Great Elder Sun Xianzu asks.

”Reason is sound.”

At this statement, Great Elder Sun Xianzu says no more, merely cupping his hand to Cangming Star Lord to indicate he’s done speaking.

A few breaths later, Cangming Star Lord nods emphatically.

”I also find Great Elder’s words more far-reaching! So let’s proceed as Great Elder plans, for now, observe from a distance as they fight!

No, we observe the battle, and also watch for chances to incite more war between Dachen and Tianyang Star Hall.” Tianyang Star Lord says.

”Accordingly, I delegate this to you, Great Elder, to arrange and execute.”

”Understood!”

”Further, pass the word along, our Star Lord has received an enlightenment, from this day forth, all disciples of Cangming Star Hall studying the Great Gathering Star Pattern may directly apply to learn one tier higher, without any merit!

Order all sub-halls and branches to close their doors and contemplate new Star Patterns.

Until they finish, no disciples may leave.” Cangming Star Lord says.

”The Lord is wise!”

Great Elder Sun Xianzu again cups his hands, ”This way, I may arrange other disciples to covertly participate in instigating, attempting to escalate the situation.”

Upon hearing, Cangming Star Lord smiles contentedly.
