Madam Li's Identity Is Exposed Again!

Chapter 1683: Chapter 1673: Finally Got Him to Sleep

Bae Chi’s face flushed red, not from pain, but from embarrassment.

If it had been anyone else daring to hit him like that, he would have lost his temper long ago.

Bae Chi kept a stern, fair face, a hint of the striking looks that would one day charm nations already evident. He pursed his lips, stubbornly glaring with eyes identical to a certain someone’s, saying, ”Anyway, I’m not going back to the hotel!”

”Well, you at least have to take your medication, right?” Chi Enen, knowing he felt guilty, didn’t force him to leave.

Bae Chi’s tightly pressed lips finally relaxed a bit, saying, ”Here is the hospital; there’s medication everywhere. No need to go back to the hotel to take it. I’ll take it right here in the hospital.”

Chi Enen touched his still cool forehead, estimating he had a slight fever, and added, ”You also need to sleep a bit in the hospital.”

”I...”

”If you don’t agree, I’ll call Hass to pick you up.” Chi Enen was unyielding on this matter.

Bae Chi realized he now had two options: go back to the hotel or listen to the advice. Although he was worried about the little fool still in the Operating Room, he compromised, ”I’ll just sleep for a bit, no guarantee I’ll fall asleep!”

Chi Enen couldn’t help but chuckle, pulling him along to find the doctor.

The doctor took Bae Chi’s temperature and, sure enough, he had a slight fever.

It was likely due to exposure to the wind at night and the fright he experienced.

Fortunately, it was caught early; after prescribing medication, the nurse arranged a ward.

Bae Chi stayed in the VIP ward, which, in terms of facilities and size, resembled a hotel suite.

Chi Enen watched him take his medication, then firmly insisted he rest on the bed.

Bae Chi, still preoccupied with the matter of Nuonuo, showed no signs of sleepiness even after taking the medicine, his eyes wide open, clearly intending to stay awake until Nuonuo’s surgery ended.

Chi Enen felt a pang of pity in her heart, but said nothing; instead, she picked up a fairy tale storybook nearby, saying, ”Can’t sleep? I’ll tell you a story.”

Bae Chi saw the Grimm’s Fairy Tales in her hand and pursed his lips, unhappily emphasizing, ”Chi Enen, I’m not a 4- or 5-year-old child anymore!”

He had no interest in such fairy tales.

”Yes, you’re an 8-year-old child.” Ignoring his puffy face, Chi Enen opened the book and began to narrate Sleeping Beauty, ”A long, long time ago, there was a very loving King and Queen...”

”You’ve told me this story at least three times before.”

She didn’t hear him!

Chi Enen continued softly, ”The witch cursed the beautiful princess; if she pricked her finger on something sharp before she turned twenty, the entire kingdom would fall asleep...”

”That’s why I say this story is ridiculous; it’s no big deal. Why didn’t the King and Queen just tell the princess she was cursed by a witch? Instead, they go to such lengths to hide sharp things.”

Chi Enen’s temple throbbed briefly; she pretended not to hear, continuing in a gentle voice from Sleeping Beauty to The Ugly Duckling, then to Snow White and One Thousand and One Nights. Finally, after finishing the fourth story, deep, even breathing came from the person on the bed.

He finally fell asleep.

Gently closing the book, she adjusted the quilt over the young boy on the bed, quietly watching his peaceful sleeping face for a while before tiptoeing out.

Bae Chi was able to fall asleep because he had taken flu medicine. The medication included hypnosis components, and she read the stories just to make sure he dozed off as the drug effects kicked in.

Otherwise, with his stubborn nature, he would have stayed awake until he was sure Nuonuo was fine.
