Alchemy Master

Chapter 258, Black Qilin

Only after personally experiencing it would one truly understand the terror of a Ten Thousand Beast Tide.

Even though everyone’s limbs had gone numb from killing and their Pills were exhausted, the Demonic Beasts before the defense line were endless; and this was merely the vanguards not the whole Demonic Beast Army.

*Huff… huff…* Qin Yichen returned to the top of the city wall, breathing heavily. His body was covered in blood stains, with congealed blood on his face and hair. His shoes were dyed red with blood. It was impossible to tell if it was from the Demonic Beasts or his own. His hands were still trembling.

He had been fighting Demonic Beasts continuously for three hours, killing countless numbers. But for a Beast Tide, what he did was merely a drop in the ocean.

This made Qin Yichen realize that the Ten Thousand Beast Tide could not be resisted by the power of one region alone.

However, reinforcements from the Thousand Mist Empire would still take several days to arrive.

Could the Northern Region’s strength alone really hold out until then?

Looking at the exhausted crowd around him, Qin Yichen’s brows furrowed. His gaze turned to the distance, where the dark horizon gave him an almost suffocating pressure.

Qin Yichen has a feeling that when the Demonic Beast Army arrives, the third defense line would surely be breached!

“What do they really want…” Only by understanding the cause of the Ten Thousand Beast Tide could it be ended.

Qin Yichen believed that Demonic Beasts would not attack Humans without reason. Moreover, there must be a Beast King behind the Demonic Beast army. Otherwise, who could control all the Demonic Beasts of the Black Demon Mountain Range?

There were many legends about the Black Demon Mountain Range. It was said that the entire range was actually the corpse of a giant Demonic Beast.

Many considered this nonsense, but at this moment, Qin Yichen had to consider its veracity.

In this world, Humans were just one of many races. Demonic Beasts also had their races.

Any creature, when powerful enough, would develop intelligence. Strangely enough, Humans were not the strongest among all races. It was just that Humans were born with special wisdom.

Things like weapons, Martial Arts Cultivation Technique, Alchemy Technique… these were all crystallizations of Human wisdom. Humans used these to compensate for their deficiencies and narrow the gap with other races.

Of course, other races possessed something that Humans did not… inheritance.

Even the weakest Demonic Beasts had inherited Talents from its Ancestors. Like the Wind Cheetah, each one of their kind possessed wind-like speed and could naturally control and sense the Wind Element.

But Humans were different. Even if a Father possessed the Wind Attribute, his descendants might not necessarily possess this same Attribute.

This was the difference and gap between Humans and the other races. Therefore, for any Demonic Beast race, the most important thing they valued was inheritance!

If the legend was true and a giant beast had fallen here, it was very possible that this was not a complete carcass. Other parts might have fallen in some corner of the Thousand Mist Empire, leading to incomplete bloodline and inheritance, thus causing this Ten Thousand Beast Tide.

Moreover, according to Qin Yichen’s guess, there must have been a rather important part of this carcass. An important part that had affected the completeness of the inheritance.

However, in the Thousand Mist Empire’s vast millions of square kilometers, how easy would it be to find a part lost for unknown ages? It was like finding a needle in the haystack.

“Uncle Zhao, are there any ancient records about the giant beast of the Black Demon Mountain Range?” Qin Yichen found the Zhao Family Patriarch who was also resting.

He needed to know what this giant beast was.

“Why are you asking about this?” The Zhao Family Patriarch’s eyes flashed with an odd light, as if extremely wary.

The Zhao Family, having inherited knowledge for thousands of years, naturally knew about these things. However, over so many years, people had mostly forgotten about the Black Demon Mountain Range’s matters. Only a few members of the Millennial Families, who had experienced numerous Ten Thousand Beast Tides, knew about such matters.

“Uncle Zhao, don’t you find this Ten Thousand Beast Tide strange? Historically, there shouldn’t have been a case where a Ten Thousand Beast Tide erupts after only less than thirty years, right?” Qin Yichen asked thoughtfully.

Hearing Qin Yichen’s words, the Zhao Family Patriarch could not help but furrow his brows. Indeed, this Ten Thousand Beast Tide had come too suddenly, and compared to previous Beast Tides, this assault was much more frenzied.

In an extremely short amount of time, the first and second defense lines were destroyed, and looking at the current trend, even the third defense line was in grave danger. The countless powerful warriors fighting Demonic Beasts below the city now showed signs of collapse. Although they had killed countless Demonic Beasts, their forces seemed endless. Before one batch was fully dead, another batch of ferocious Demonic Beasts would surge forward.

“According to the ancient records, thousands of years ago, a supreme expert killed a Black Qilin in our Northern Region. Some witnessed the Black Qilin’s head get severed and disappeared without a trace, while its body transformed into what is now known as the Black Demon Mountain Range…”

The Zhao Family Patriarch slowly told Qin Yichen about the Black Demon Mountain Range’s history from the ancient records. When mentioning that supreme expert, his eyes were filled with reverence.

The Black Qilin was a king among Demonic Beasts – an adult Black Qilin’s power was beyond imagination. How formidable must an expert be to kill an adult Black Qilin!?

“A Black Qilin?” Qin Yichen murmured this Demonic Beast’s name.

The Black Qilin was a Demonic Beast with truly Ancient Bloodline. After its death, the Black Demon Mountain Range transformed into what it was, a space that nurtured countless ferocious Demonic Beasts due to the fallen Black Qilin’s aura.

“The head was severed? It must have been sealed, right? Could the reason for this Ten Thousand Beast Tide be related to the seal? In that case, where is that seal?”

Qin Yichen’s mind raced, but he had no clues. Not just him – over these thousands of years, countless people had tried to find the Black Qilin’s head, all without success.

Just as Qin Yichen was about to ask more questions, he noticed the Zhao Family Patriarch’s body suddenly trembling, his eyes fixed on the distant horizon, his expression becoming extremely ugly. His body was now unable to stop shaking.

Qin Yichen followed his gaze, and his pupils immediately contracted.

At the horizon’s edge, a black cloud swept forward as if it would devour Heaven and Earth. Upon closer look, they realized it was not a dark cloud, but flying Demonic Beasts that blocked out the sky!

*Wooo!* As far as the eye could see, there were at least thousands of flying Demonic Beasts soaring over, causing fierce winds to rage across this land.

“Ah! Flying Demonic Beasts! Quickly, run!”

“Run!”

Flying Demonic Beasts soon dove down.

With ferocious Demonic Beasts at the front and aerial attacks from the sky to guard against, those fearless warriors finally felt despair.
