What Do You Mean There Are Other Transmigrators In My Harem Fantasy?

I thought that Taritia would start stamping her foot and rage at her loss for some reason but surprisingly she merely sighed and stepped up onto the stage at the same time as Bjorn.

She then congratulated him on his win and Bjorn did not even rub it in her face either, simply thanking her before the two of them parted ways.

For how much they shit talked to each other before the fight, I was quite surprised to see that they were so cordial at the end there.

Lisa mirrored my thoughts as well by wondering aloud, “Huh… I thought she would be much more angry than that.”

An old man that was seated beside her turned to face her, “Your first time here, lass?”

She half turned to him and looked at him suspiciously, “It is, is there something wrong?”

“Not at all. Sorry for being a busybody but I can tell you why they’re like that though.”

She turned to me and I nodded, prompting Lisa to face him again.

“Please.”

He stroked his beard with a grin, “It’s no big secret really. Realise how they call this an ‘exhibition’ instead of a tournament or even a competition?”

Oh, he’s right. Only ours was called a tournament for some reason.

He continued, “That’s because even if the trainer loses, as long as they can showcase how well their combat slaves perform, it’s a win for them. That’s why you don’t see the slave trainers using offensive spells to eliminate their opponents as it would not highlight the slaves’ strengths. And even if they did, they would try not to eliminate them with the support they used.”

Ah, because they’re aiming to sell the slaves in the first place. For Taritia, she already showed that the same slave that lost managed to turn things around after just a quick talk from her.

I’m pretty sure she’ll be able to sell off those slaves to a very interested buyer after this.

As for Bjorn, I suppose everyone here could already see for themselves how capable the slaves he trained are so the interested parties would most likely seek him out.

If I would even dare to guess… Perhaps these fights might even be scripted?

Actually, seeing how the slaves were fighting just now, I would think that is very unlikely. Not even world class actors would be able to pull off something like that.

Besides, I’m pretty sure the people around would not be happy if they learned this was scripted especially when there are betting pools involved.

Lisa thanked the old man for sharing the info with us and we continued to watch the rest of the exhibition.

Several other slave trainers came up in the arena and faced off against each other with their slaves.

Not going to lie, the exhibition was still pretty interesting to watch and the interactions between the slave trainers and their slaves was quite a spectacle.

One slave might look like they were about to suffer a defeat but their trainer would suddenly use their support to do a reversal on their opponent and snatch a win from there.

The support that the trainers use were also pretty interesting, ranging from potions to spells to weapons and one of them even used a chair once.

I’m not even kidding about the chair.

One of the slaves had missed their weapon swing and the other slave was just about to counter with a stab of their own when the first slave’s trainer picked up a chair and threw it at the slave, hitting him in the back.

That distracted him enough that the first slave managed to recover in time to counter attack, defeating his opponent with a single cleave of his sword.

If only the chair was a folding chair, then I could have said the slave trainer deployed a tactical folding chair. Heh.

Ahem…

Anyway, Bjorn ended up losing on his third match to some other guy that was using an entire party of Amrap slaves who practically steamrolled his team.

I could already see Odeta staring at them intently as though trying to memorise their faces so that she could challenge them to a match herself.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see who won the exhibition because we had to leave and prepare for our own tournament that would be happening after the exhibition.

I led the way back to where we had registered for the tournament and several other parties were already there with their own groups.

Some were clearly Mercenaries that were joining the tournament for the prize while others were owners with actual combat slaves judging by what they were wearing.

Needless to say, I stood out the most since my party was the only one that consisted of five girls all dressed in maid uniforms.

There were a few who obviously knew who we were while others either didn’t care or wondered why a noble lady was making her maids participate in such a tournament.

Wasn’t it obvious? It’s for the sweets of course!

At least none of them came up to start hitting on us or trying to stir up trouble I guess. There wasn’t even some young master trying to demand my attention either which I was almost disappointed about.

It didn’t take long before a slave showed up and got our attention, which I was a little surprised to see that it was the slave girl that had thrown the guy out for trying to have sex with her.

“Greetings contestants! If you are here, that means you are participating in–“

“Is this a joke?”

Her words were interrupted by a male Mahun wearing full plate armour while carrying his helmet on his arm.

He was looking at the slave girl with a frown on his face.

The slave girl gave him a curious look, “I apologise sir but what do you mean by that?”

“You heard me. I asked if this was a joke. Are the organisers of this place so far below standards that they would let a slave be the one to receive us?”

Geh… He’s another one of those huh? The kind of people who think they are better than those that have a collar around their necks…

She smiled at him, “I assume this is your first time here, sir. But I would just like to remind you what city you are in right now. If you have a problem with slaves here, I would recommend that you leave this place immediately.”

“Who the fuck do you think you are to talk down to us like that?!”

“May I remind sir that you are also now a slave even if temporarily to join this event?”

“Tsk, this is different. I’m only a temporary slave by choice!”

“Oh, what a coincidence, so am I.”

The guy had a look of confusion on his face, obviously not understanding what he just heard.

The girl smiled at him, “Don’t need to think too hard about it but it doesn’t change the fact that I was chosen as the one to greet all of you. If anyone has a problem with that, you are free to leave.”

There were actually a handful of them who left after hearing her words including the previous Mahun, but she showed no reaction to the sight as though she was already used to it.

She even waited patiently for them to leave the premises before addressing the rest of us.

She cleared her throat and began once more as though the previous incident never happened, “Greetings contestants! If you are here, that means you are participating in the Combat Slave Tournament! Party leaders should have a ticket that marks you as a participant! If you do not have one or have lost yours, please head over to the counter over there to have it issued to you!”

A few parties headed in the indicated direction, unsurprisingly.

“For the rest of the contestants, please proceed to the next hall where we will register your entry!”

We were then guided past another corridor with a large staircase that led downwards underground.

I felt a little bit concerned that we were being brought below the surface, almost like we were going to be kidnapped or sacrificed so I kept on alert.

Turns out my fears were unfounded as we emerged in a wide space underground where several more arenas were arranged around the hall.

Similar to the arena above, there were multiple stands surrounding the area filled with various people who seemed to have been waiting for our arrival to spectate us.

Weren’t we going to fight in the arena above though?

The slave girl then got our attention again, “Welcome once again, contestants! We will soon begin our preliminary rounds held here where you will be facing each other in an elimination style tournament! The top ten parties will then move to the main arena upstairs for the finals so do your best! For now, party leaders, please head to the counter over here! We will be arranging you in your brackets!”

Welp, I suppose here we go then.
