Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 1015: Chapter 1015: Coming Home

Their room was acceptable, but they had requested some kitchen supplies and food.

They also knew that they might not have time to come home for dinner at night. But they wanted to have breakfast made by Mom in the morning.

Chengzi naturally had no objections and instructed the lifestyle secretary to record this for retrieval.

”Uncle Chengzi, where are you living?”

”I used to live in the dormitory. I will continue living there in the future.”

Actually, the children were happy about this. They hoped that the family would include just the five of them, but they knew Mom had two lifestyle secretaries. There was no other solution. It had to be this way.

They had seen the house and tidied their belongings.

Chengzi watched as all three of them independently completed their tasks.

”Uncle Chengzi, can we go back and see our old home? I also want to visit Zhuang Yuanxi.”

Chengzi checked the time. It was two-thirty, and it took an hour to get to the garrison, so the time was doable.

”Sure, let’s go back and tell your parents.”

Su Yuanyuan heard they wanted to return to the garrison and did not stop them.

”You can eat there and come back. No rush, but make sure to stay safe.”

She was particularly busy today. After work, she still had a meeting, so it was nice for the kids to go out for a bit.

Qi Yan and the other two were a bit excited. Watching Chengzi drive, ”Uncle Chengzi, we also want to learn to drive.”

”No problem, when there’s a day without classes, I’ll drive, and we’ll come here for a wide road to learn in the garrison.”

At the entrance to the garrison, the four of them passed through inspections. The sentry at the entrance recognized Chengzi, so the inspection went much faster.

Everyone was quite curious about who these three beautiful kids belonged to and why Chengzi brought them over alone.

During the second inspection, Qi Hong was quite curious, ”Uncle Chengzi, why is there an extra checkpoint?”

”Because someone came here to stir up trouble. Fortunately, your Mom was here. You weren’t around then, but it was pretty satisfying.”

”Did my Mom hit them?”

Chengzi held back a laugh, ”Of course, I think your Mom has an even more explosive temper than your Dad.”

Daqing had already heard Chengzi was coming and was puzzled, wondering why he came. Hearing he had brought three children, he immediately knew Qi Yan and the others were here.

Hurriedly, he went out to greet them. Chengzi and the group had already arrived.

The three kids knew Uncle Daqing and greeted him.

”You three came back today just in time to leave after having a meal. Xiao Song, let the chef know to prepare some food.”

”Okay, Uncle Daqing. We want to go home and have a look.”

”No problem, I’ll take you.” Qi Yan shook his head, ”Uncle Daqing, you’re too busy, we have Uncle Chengzi here. We’ll go to the cafeteria ourselves when it’s mealtime.”

Chengzi didn’t drive but instead walked with the four of them through the garrison.

The three children’s eyes darted around, feeling both familiar and strange.

Chengzi followed beside them. They were quite young when they left, so who knew how much they remembered.

Actually, Qi Yan and the others did remember. They were very smart, especially having gone through such upheaval, they subconsciously wanted to remember the past. They recalled their living environment every day.

”Uncle Chengzi, are there still many familiar faces here?” Qi Hong asked.

Chengzi understood his meaning, ”There have been almost no changes in leadership, but the lower-ranking Xiao Bing soldiers have rotated twice.”

This was normal; capable people would be sent here from other units. The older ones would be transferred below, which was just regular shuffling.

”Uncle Chengzi, my Mom said Zhuang Yuanxi is still here. Is that right?”

”Yes, he’s a teenager now. I heard he wants to join, but his Mom might not agree.”

That’s understandable; entering this line of work is truly risky. No parent wants their child to take such risks, but they might not be able to sway them.

”Uncle Chengzi, let’s go home first. I miss home.”

In the children’s hearts, this was home, since they’d lived here for a long time and were together with their parents daily.

”No problem, someone will definitely come regularly to clean. Don’t worry. Your Mom comes back once in a while.”

Qi Wen looked at Chengzi, ”Uncle Chengzi, do you think my Mom remembers?”

Chengzi shook his head, ”I don’t know. Initially, when we learned your Mom had amnesia, we decided not to tell her anything, so she wouldn’t bear the pain of your departure.

But she’s so smart; I feel she already knew almost everything after leaving the hospital.

We didn’t dare say anything, and she didn’t want anyone around her.

At that time, one of us would always stay here, worried something might happen to your Mom.”

”Uncle Chengzi, have you ever seen my Mom cry?”

Chengzi nodded, ”No, even when we found out about your accident and met your Mom on the road, she never cried.

You don’t know, to avenge you, at that time she ignored everyone.

The person was a big shot, trying to escape by plane. Your Mom downed the plane; we used to say none of us could have done it. Even Daqing, as a sniper, wasn’t confident.”

The three kids had red eyes. During that time, they were with Dad, but Mom was alone. Dad often said that he hoped the three of them could be with Mom so she wouldn’t be that sad or lonely.

”But now it’s better; you’re back, back at her side. Haven’t you noticed? Your Mom smiles more now.”

The three children were still very sad. Actually, when together they used to say that because they wanted to sail, if they had been on land, even if there were danger, Mom and Dad could have handled it.

They reached the gate of home. Seeing the somewhat old gate and courtyard walls, they were hesitant to go in.

Chengzi noticed their hesitation and opened the door, ”Come inside and see, is it still the same as in your memories? At that time your Mom worried some people wouldn’t be satisfied, so she wanted to give up the house. But Hu Zi and Zhang Chunsheng were anxious, nearly started a fight, saying this was your home, keeping it here for your return.”

Qi Wen’s tears fell first as she entered the courtyard. There were still some vegetables, just like in their memory. There were also a few big watermelons, some sweet melons.

Her two brothers followed her in, the three of them standing in the yard, thinking about the time when Mom planted vegetables and they played by her side.

They always wanted to help, but every time they ended up causing trouble. At that time, Mom patiently taught them to recognize vegetables from weeds.
