Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 501: 501 Harvest

Watching the three children sleep soundly, Yuanyuan excitedly went out. For Tan Shaoting and the other person, getting things out from underground was quite simple.

Still, she checked the surrounding neighbors, reaffirming that no one was paying attention here before she felt at ease storing away all the items from underground.

Yet, looking at the large sunken area, Yuanyuan felt a bit of a headache, thinking about how to explain this. Bringing in soil from outside would be noticeable.

Forget it, better to pretend not to know. After all, this was behind a patch of grass. We’ll deal with it when it’s discovered.

Storing away so many good things, Yuanyuan was truly very happy.

Now she knew that she was most interested in money, or things related to money.

Just like that, all her gloomy mood disappeared.

She lay beautifully beside the kids, thinking, this truly is a wealthy family’s place. My goodness, how are there so many things? I wonder if the homeowner knows too?

But they probably don’t know, right? Otherwise, no matter how much money was offered, this house wouldn’t be sold.

Earlier, when looking at the two houses next door, it seemed they hadn’t been lived in for a long time. I’ll follow up with them later. If not, I’ll just buy them all.

Found good things in the other two houses as well, but certainly not as much as this one, and there’s a notable difference. However, what Yuanyuan liked most about the one on the left was that it had a basement.

And it looked pretty dry inside, such a house design is really quite good.

Definitely need to make clear inquiries later. As for the money to buy the houses, Tan Shaoting has over four thousand in salary and bonuses these past two years. If anyone asks, just say it’s income from the farm.

Less than an hour later, Yuanyuan woke up the three kids.

Outside was really hot, so the four of them stayed inside to play.

Right on time, there was a knock on the main door.

”Three masters, take a look please. It’s the house I bought yesterday. I haven’t had time to inspect it. Once you’ve checked it out, let’s discuss how to repair it.”

All three were honest working men, so they spent twenty minutes walking around the triple courtyard.

”Comrade, do you have any instructions on how you want us to do this job?”

”Master, is there anything to consider?”

”There are two ways: you can give us the full responsibility. We’ll estimate, prepare all the materials, and complete the entire job for you.

The other way is for us to come do the labor, which is two yuan a day. Whatever materials we need, you’d prepare.”

Yuanyuan laughed, ”Three masters, I’ll go with the full package. My husband is too busy with work, and I have to watch the kids, there really is no time to buy materials.

So, you three just do the budget and give me the numbers.”

Each of the three calculated. The tiler was the fastest, estimating the number of tiles needed, also that the trellises needed replacement. Six main rooms, eight side rooms, two kitchens, one living room, and a study. It would take about six days to fix everything.

As for painting the house, it would take about five days. Altogether, it would cost three hundred sixty yuan.

Yuanyuan thought it wasn’t expensive, mainly because she didn’t know the price of these materials.

Seeing Yuanyuan’s hesitation, the tiler immediately explained.

”I’m really not asking for more money. We need a lot of cement, plus bricks for the kitchen stove. If you add them up, I really didn’t ask for more money.”

Yuanyuan nodded, ”Alright, I trust you, Master.”

The carpenter was even more cost-effective since there was very little timber required for doors and windows, mostly needing repairs, painting, and replacing glass.

Of course, Yuanyuan agreed. It’s just a matter of a hundred yuan, mainly because there aren’t many types of paint available now, they’re all the same.

The remaining landscape master directly stated he needed two months, costing two yuan a day, and would provide any plants or such. However, the fountain still needed the tiler for repair.

Having discussed it all, Yuanyuan gave each of them twenty yuan as a deposit, would provide half at the mid stage, and if there were no issues upon completion, would pay the rest in one go.

”Three masters, no one is living around my house in the two other homes, right? Why is it so quiet, no movement at all?”

”These houses are currently listed with the housing authority. One family of the two got into trouble; the whole family was sent to a remote area, and the east side family went abroad.”

”So, to buy a house, I need to go to the housing authority?”

”That should be it, but these houses are too big and too good, rarely anyone buys them, can’t afford it.”

Yuanyuan understood and nodded, she gave the previous keys of her house to the tiler, deciding to wait for a family move-in to change to her new lock.

After seeing them off, she decided to take the children to the housing authority.

Even though the two homes were unattended, she felt uneasy just taking the good stuff.

”Mom, are we buying a house again?”

”Yes, each of you three will have one.”

”For us?”

”Yes, for you, and the names will be changed to yours.”

The four of them happily wandered to the housing authority, directly inquiring about these two houses there.

”Comrade, you want to buy these two houses?”

”Yes, I really like these houses.” Can’t use any other reason, just tell the truth.

”The current price for these two houses is four thousand five hundred.”

”Comrade, may I take a look?” You still have to do the formalities.

”Sure. But there’s nothing inside.”

Yuanyuan knew this.

So they went back again. The staff first unlocked the house on the west side.

Yuanyuan, although she knew, still acted very surprised.

”Comrade. Hasn’t anyone lived here for many years?”

”Yes, it’s been five or six years.”

”Comrade, this house can be properly transferred, right?”

”Yes, it’s currently a state-owned house. They intended to allocate it, but for some reason, it’s now for sale.”

”Comrade, if I buy both houses, can there be a discount?”

”Both?”

”Yes, as you can see, I have many kids.”

”I don’t have the authority to decide that. Actually, I remember you, the house you bought yesterday, I estimate the minimum price was six thousand, right?”

”Yes. But that house looks better than this one.”

”I think no one can make a call to reduce this price.”

”Alright, fine, let’s go see the other layer. It’s rare to have all three houses together.”

”Yes, we still have quite a few houses, but none are adjacent like this.”

Yuanyuan actually wanted to say, if it weren’t for her buying the one in the middle, these two wouldn’t count as adjacent, right?

The east layer was the same, overgrown with weeds, looking desolate and dilapidated.

”Comrade. Though I spent more money on the house I bought yesterday, its maintenance is much better than these two.”
