Regression - Second Chance At Life

Chapter 196: Hostages

The two gang members who just stepped out to check on those horrid screams were just exposed to a very gruesome scene.

One of their men is crawling on the ground, crying for help. While the other lay there, twitching on his own pool of blood.

Their fear only intensified, seeing how desperate Konti looks as he begs them to drag him back into the cabin.

”What are you talking about?” They ask.

”Monster! There’s a monster out there. It will get us, so hurry the fuck up!” Konti says as he tries to crawl up the steps using only his hands. Even though he is being subjected to extreme pain at the sight of his injury, he doesn’t want to die.

”What about him?” The other gang member asks, looking at the jawless goon who is still twitching on the ground, moaning in pain.

”Fuck him! He is as good as dead! Drag me back in!” Konti yells.

The jawless goon starts thrashing around, hearing Konti’s words. His lower jaw might have shattered, and he might be in incredible pain, but he still wants to live.

Seeing the jawless goon thrashing around, looking at them with wide eyes, signaling them to take him in as well, the two gunmen start second-guessing themselves.

They look at each other and communicate with their eyes. They quickly come to a decision without speaking a word.

They turn their back and try to reenter the cabin.

”AAAYYYYEE! Take me with you!!!!” Konti shouts, seeing the gunmen trying to head back in without helping him, when suddenly, something comes flying from the dense forest once again.

One of the gunmen, who was just about to make his way inside, feels his point of view suddenly change as one of his legs suddenly folds sideways.

Adam threw another stone, and this time he aimed it right at the gunman’s knee. When the stone made contact, it bent the man’s knee sideways; all the ligaments, tendons, and cartilage connected to his knee snapped.

The pain was immediate. As soon as the gunman fell down, he started screaming in pain while clutching his leg. Tears immediately started falling from his eyes as he cried like an injured cougar.

His partner could only stare wide-eyed as he saw him fall down and start screaming out of nowhere.

As the other gunman shifted his eyes to look at the fallen gunman’s leg, he saw how disgustingly twisted his leg looked right now, only being held to his body through skin and surrounding fascia.

”AWWAAWWW” Konti, who saw this immediately, backed away, voicing out weird, scared sounds.

The other gunman, now very afraid, immediately pointed his gun at the dense bushes, scared that if he looked away. He might also end up like his partner.

”What are you doing! Shoot the fucker!” the injured gunman screams.

”I can’t see anything. It’s too dark!” the other gunman says, panicked.

”Then don’t just fucking stand there. Either drag me back in or go there and check out who or what it is!” the injured gunman shouts.

”Fuck that! I am not moving! I don’t want to end up like you!” the other gunman says, keeping his gun aimed at where the stone came from.

He is scared shitless. He doesn’t even have the guts to run back into the cabin, believing that if he takes his eyes off for even a second, he will end up just like everyone here.

Suddenly, the gun in his hand explodes, mangling both his hands in the process.

”AARRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!” He shouts as he immediately falls on his ass. He looks at his hands, horrified as they are a burnt, mangled mess.

Some of his fingers are completely gone, while others are hanging by a thin strand of skin and muscle, and the rest of his hand is burned and mangled, with fragments of bones sticking out.

He looks at it and screams over and over again, terrified.

What the fuck just happened?

Adam shot the guy with the gun he stole.

When the gunman pointed his gun in Adam’s direction. Adam grabbed the gun he stole from the goons, aimed at the guy’s head, but then lowered it and aimed right into the gun’s barrel and pressed the trigger.

Already a master gunsman, he can’t miss. The bullet tore right through the sound barrier and went into the gunman’s gun barrel and hit the bullet that was already loaded in the chamber. It exploded, and along with it, the gun.

Adam saw the mangled mess he had made and sucked some air through his teeth. He didn’t expect such a gruesome outcome, but he didn’t feel sorry for the gunman one bit. These are the worst of the worst scum in his eyes.

He is going to make sure to render all of them so useless that they can never harm anyone else ever again.

Inside the cabin, the rest of the gang members listened to the screams of the men who had just gone out to check on what was happening.

The first scream immediately made them realize that there was someone out there wanting to hurt them. They even heard Konti call that thing a monster, which starts to feel real to them after they hear the second scream.

Even the leader is scared now.

”Quick, grab all of them as hostages and head out!” The leader quickly makes a decision. With someone out there hunting them. He quickly comes to the conclusion that they must be here for Lana and her friends, so his best option right now is to grab Lana and her friends, parade them as hostages, and get the fuck out of here.

The longer he decides to stay in this cabin, the worse it will get for them.

Now that they have been found clearly committing a crime, it won’t be long before the police get here, and by then it will be too late.

”You fucking asshole, why didn’t you tell us someone was keeping an eye on them!” The leader immediately turns to Drake and smacks his face with a mean slap.

Drake falls down on his ass naked as he cowers in fear.

”I thought... I thought he would be together with them,” Drake says.

Lana and her friends, who have been listening to their conversation, immediately think of someone as they too connect the dots.

All of Lana’s friends look at her, while Lana also thinks of one name.

Adam. He was supposed to keep an eye on them. He is also the only one who is not here with them, so the possibility of Adam being out there is very high.

Lana immediately feels a sense of relief wash over her. But that feeling is immediately ripped away as one of the gang members grabs her by her hair and forces her to her feet and presses a gun to her head.

The same thing happens to her other friends as well.

Now held at gunpoint once again, fear creeps up.

”Let’s head out,” The leader says.

”Boss, what about him?” One of the gang members asks, pointing at Drake.

”Take him as well. The more hostages we have, the better!” The leader says.

They grab Drake as well, hold him at gunpoint, before rushing out of the cabin.

As soon as they are out. The gang members stand back to back, holding Drake, Lana, and her friends before them with a gun to their heads.

They look around and see their four gang members alive, but each has been subjected to very gruesome injuries.

One’s entire lower jaw is shattered, the other got his back broken, the third one has one of his lower legs dangling around, and the fourth one is missing most of his hands.

The other gang members are horrified to see this, but now is not the time to panic

”Whoever the fuck you are! We have these kids hostage. I am sure you are here for them. Make one wrong move and my boys are going to fucking blow their heads off! Do you understand?” The leader shouts in the open as he can’t see anyone, as they are surrounded by thick, dense dark forest, and it’s late at night.

Their eyes aren’t built for this. But Adam’s eyes are.

He can clearly see everything from the darkness, and he does not like how the situation has unfolded.

His idea was to scare the people who are inside the cabin to stay inside by making them hear the horrid sounds of their gang members.

In such a tense state, they wouldn’t think of doing anything bad to Lana and her friends.

He could then wait it out until the police arrive.

But it looks like the goons figured out his plan as well. And now they are trying to escape with the hostages before the police get here.

Adam needs to think of something else to save Lana and her friends. As for Drake. He doesn’t give a shit. The piece of shit can die, for all he cares.

This allows Adam to think of something.

’What if I sacrifice him?.... In such a tense situation, the gang members won’t have enough time to think this through.’ Adam thinks and aims the gun at Drake.

His eyes line up with the gun’s target point, which is locked onto Drake. He places his hand on the trigger and then... pulls it.

The sound of the gun rocks everyone.

The goon who had Drake before him feels blood splatter all over his face as Drake falls on top of him.

”AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA,” Lana and her friends scream.

”FUCK! Shit!” The gang members panic and point their guns in the direction from which the shot was fired.
