After going downstairs, Luis saw no car at the entrance of the community, so he made a phone call.

”Iʼm free right now, just driving around. Take a taxi yourself. For late night snacks, go to Aunt Fattyʼs place for barbecue.”

Nancy said this impatiently and hung up the phone immediately.

At that moment, she was gripping the steering wheel, her mood extremely foul. Having waited at the entrance for half an hour, she, who was prone to overthinking, was already filled with rage.

What expression would that bastard have when he came downstairs? Would he look refreshed after relieving his stress, or would he be weak and decadent from having too much fun with that slut?

The more Nancy thought about it, the angrier she became. Why should she wait for him here like a driver, and even wait for him to finish fucking his little lover before driving him back? It was so humiliating and utterly ridiculous.

She was impatient, and Luis was equally impatient. After hanging up, he indeed hailed a taxi.

However, he didnʼt go to the barbecue place she specified. Instead, he went to the back gate of the park at the end of the road, to a particularly famous street food stall: casserole chicken.

None of the women in the Wood family ate chicken prepared this way, especially Nancy with her self-righteous, sanctimonious attitude. Luisʼs good mood had been completely ruined by her, so naturally, he wasnʼt going to indulge her bad habits anymore.

Missions, favorability meter... To hell with it. Itʼs not like hers is the only mission line. At worst, Iʼll just ignore you.

”Where are you?”

”Eating!”

”Didnʼt I say to eat barbecue at Aunt Fattyʼs place?”

”Then you go eat. Send me the bill for reimbursement.”

After saying that, Luis hung up the phone. Just then, the casserole chicken was served. Hot charcoal burned beneath the pot, and as the chicken stew bubbled, its aroma wafted up—a smell most people couldnʼt tolerate.

Those who could sit here were regulars. Nancy parked her car and walked straight over.

The sister-in-law wore a white sleeveless vest, a pair of black denim shorts, and flip-flop style mid-heeled sandals.

These were all clothes belonging to his Mother-in-law and Lily. She hadnʼt brought any of her own clothes over. Yet, even dressed like this, she carried herself like a supermodel, walking with such style that everyone present was drawn to her.

With her tall, devilish figure, sheʼd look stunning even in a sack. Combined with her striking beauty, it was impossible not to notice her.

”Are you doing this on purpose?”

As soon as Nancy sat down, her face looked somewhat unpleasant.

Luis took a sip of the standard local liquor and said nonchalantly, ”Big sister, what business is it of yours what I eat for a late-night snack? I donʼt feel like barbecue, whatʼs wrong with wanting chicken?”

”You...”

Nancy was momentarily speechless.

Luis continued eating the meat and drank some wine, saying, ”If you donʼt want to eat it, big sister, just eat something else. Itʼs not a big deal.”

”Your nerve is growing bigger and bigger. Since when do you speak so disrespectfully?”

Nancy was so angry she slapped the table.

Luis raised his head and looked at her coldly, saying, ”If youʼre not happy about it, big sister, you can leave. I never said I have to please you.”

”You...”

Nancy was furious: ”Is this a challenge? You really think I wonʼt tell your wife?”

”Whether you tell her or not is irrelevant. I never cared.”

Luis picked up a piece of chicken tail and started eating it, sneering, ”Itʼs you Iʼm curious about. Youʼre as controlling as Mom. I wonder why youʼre exerting so much effort on me.”

”Iʼm your sister-in-law, canʼt I say anything?”

Nancyʼs voice suddenly rose.

Luis, however, looked at her calmly and said softly, ”A married daughter is like spilled water. However good your life is after marriage is your own affair. What have you bought for your sisters? Have you been able to support your father, or my Mother-in-law, your own mother?”

Hearing this, Nancy was momentarily taken aback.

Luis continued drinking and eating his food, speaking lightly:

Luis continued drinking and eating his food, speaking lightly:

”I know you look down on me, a live-in son-in-law. But just like your worthless husband, I didnʼt pay much of a bride price, right? Did that good-for-nothing of yours contribute any money?”

”But me? The water card, electricity card, broadband, natural gas—Iʼm the one paying for all of it. Tell me, big sister, have you ever even seen these cards?”

Nancy felt extremely guilty at this point. Not only had she never seen such things at her natal home, but even when she was married, it was her in-laws who handled all those payments.

Nancy said stubbornly, ”What does that prove?”

”A married daughter is like spilled water!”

Luis took a fierce gulp of wine, put down his glass, and asked, ”Big sister, you all used to laugh at me for being a live-in son-in-law, but Iʼve shouldered the responsibilities I should have in this household.”

”You, on the other hand, donʼt even know how much the annual property fees are for this family. What right do you have to criticize me?”

This made Nancy a bit flustered, but she still gritted her silver teeth and said, ”Donʼt be so harsh. You are a live-in son-in-law, thatʼs a fact.”

Luis sneered, ”Right. Between the two sons-in-law, Iʼm the more disgraceful one. But I pay for your familyʼs water, electricity, gas, and Leahʼs school expenses.”

”What about your rich second-generation husband? Aside from acting pretentious all day, has he ever spent a single cent?”

”I became a live-in son-in-law because I love Lily, not to be looked down upon by you all.”

Luis took another fierce sip of wine, then sneered, ”At first, I thought this brother-in-law was alright, and that you, big sister, were doing well. But then I realized, what does it have to do with us?”

”You complain daily about the wine at home being bad, yet Iʼve never seen you bring a bottle. You mock Momʼs handbags, yet Iʼve never seen you buy her one.”

”Let me tell you straight, I look down on you right now. Donʼt even talk about being poor now; even if you had money, you wouldnʼt spend it on your own mother.”

Hearing this, Nancy was already panicking internally and lost her confidence. She said, ”Itʼs not like thereʼs anything at home that requires spending money.”

Luis knew her attitude was softening and immediately changed his approach, saying, ”There are expenses everywhere. Firewood, rice, oil, salt—every little thing costs money. If I hadnʼt been subsidizing the family all these years, where do you think Mom would get the money to play cards every day?”

”Enough, big sister. You always want to control me now. I just want to ask one question: what gives you the right?”

Luis laughed coldly, ”Just because you come home every day to show off? Youʼre the eldest sister of the family. Forget that youʼre married now; even before you married, what did you contribute to the family?”
