Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1609 1609: One Chance

The trials inside the inner space were not something Adam was unprepared for. He knew that it was not only the center of his power, but also an opportunity to break through the next barrier.

He had done it many times before and was ready to do it now.

After all, to create the Second Grand Star, he had to face the Silver Weaver, which was one of the most difficult fights for him.

But... Nothing could prepare him for what he saw here.

Instead of a terrifying monster from the First Star or some difficult trial, in the midst of the endless void, none other than Silvana awaited him.

ʼNo, somethingʼs wrong.ʼ

Adam shook his head, giving Silvana a closer look.

It wasnʼt the real Silvana. It was a dark glass doll that looked very much like Silvana, down to the last detail.

”Hey, can you talk?”

There was no response.

The Dark Silvana looked at the black flame, but did not touch it.

Instead, a long weapon appeared in her right hand, which Adam immediately recognized.

It was not a scissor blade, the same kind he used in their new shared ability. If it werenʼt for this power, Adam would most likely not have been able to defeat Vaarh. That day, a dozen spectral blades inflicted critical wounds on the proud dragon.

Dark Silvana ran her hand along the blunt side of her blade before pointing it at Adam.

There were no rules, nor were there any clues. The only thing Adam knew was that he had to defeat Dark Silvana.

ʼAlright, so the First Star has decided to pit my main ally against me? Whatever. This isnʼt the real Silvana, itʼs just a dark clone! I have to defeat her and deal with this black flame!ʼ

Although Adam usually acted recklessly, he remembered the words of Zargos and the Evolution Tree.

They both believed in Adam, but neither of them hid how dangerous it really was, although Zargos was much more optimistic.

Step.

Dark Silvana slowly stepped forward.

The rules and stakes were simple, at least for now.

Immediately, Adam reached out his hand, preparing to summon his needle, his main weapon, but... something went wrong.

”Agh?” Adam glanced to the side with wide eyes.

For some reason, he couldnʼt summon his needle. His ability simply did not work.

ʼIs it because the Silver Weaver lost his left arm, or is there another reason for this?ʼ

Whooooosh.

Adam jumped back, closing the distance as he took another stance, preparing to summon his Nexus.

But the Staff of Defeat, like his silver needle, was slow to appear in his grasp.

Then, Adam tried all his other abilities, but nothing responded to his call.

He couldnʼt use any of his abilities, and Dark Silvana was already close, towering over him.

”W-What…?”

Adamʼs eyes reflected the dark blade that cut through the void and came crashing down on him.

Acting on instinct, Adam was able to dodge at the last moment.

Whoooooosh!

The wind cut swept forward from just one of Dark Silvanaʼs swings.

Adam was impressed and puzzled at the same time.

This one attack was enough for him to realize that Dark Silvana was no ordinary opponent.

”Agh... Agh... Agh...” Adam was breathing heavily.

He was scared because he didnʼt know what would happen if Dark Silvana hurt him.

What would happen if Adam lost? Would he get another chance? Maybe he would just lose some of his energy and be exhausted?

Or... Would something much worse happen?

The First Star did not accept defeat or weakness, and this was reflected in Dark Silvana.

ʼAlright, sheʼs fast and strong, but so am I. My abilities are blocked, but what about my energy?ʼ

As soon as Adam thought this, white energy covered his hands. No one could take his energy away from him. That would only happen if the Evolution Tree was completely destroyed, but that wasnʼt the case.

”Come on, attack!”

Dark Silvana didnʼt wait long as she lunged forward, attacking with the same lightning speed as before.

Slash. Slash. Slash.

One slash after another, Dark Silvana tried to cut Adam down, and he barely dodged.

ʼShit! The real Silvana would never have such speed! Who or what is controlling her?ʼ

Two swift swings left a deep X-shaped cut on Adamʼs face. Blood gushed out, but instead of pain, only fear was reflected in his eyes.

Crack. Crack. Crack.

Dark Silvana raised her second hand, as the great white spire formed in her grasp from a myriad of snow-white threads.

If Dark Silvana could use their first joint ability, then controlling the second was no trouble for her.

Directing all his energy to his feet, Adam jumped sharply to the side, dodging the trembling spear at the last moment.

A stream of white cloud rose up in the darkness, hiding Adamʼs silhouette.

Dark Silvana turned around, trying to figure out where Adam was, but even with her instincts, she couldnʼt figure it out.

Suddenly, Adamʼs hand emerged from the white cloud, five tiny energy orbs gathered at his fingertips, and one large one in his palm. He compressed his energy as much as possible.

Tap.

Dark Silvana looked down only to see Adamʼs hand pressed tightly against her chest.

”You may be strong and fast, you are just like me, which means... You have no way to protect yourself!”

BLAST!

A devastating blast of white energy threw Dark Silvana aside.

Cracks ran through her glass body, and her right arm shattered into tiny pieces up to her shoulder.

Without hesitation, Adam lunged forward toward the black flame, wanting to touch the will of the First Star that had been waiting for him here for so long.

ʼNow! Iʼll get it!ʼ

Adam reached out his hand toward the black flame.

Electric discharges appeared in the space as something threw Adam back.

”What the—!”

He stopped when he heard footsteps approaching, heavy and confident, different from Dark Silvanaʼs.

Adamʼs pupils narrowed as he couldnʼt believe it.

The Silver Weaver stood before him, not a clone but the real thing.

”Yo!”
