Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1473: Arcade

There were many different activities at the casino, and after Silvana and Louis played poker, they moved on.

Blackjack was their next stop, and the rules of this card game were much simpler than those of poker. So Alexia and Adam joined in as well. The four of them took up most of the table.

So, if any of them won, it was a plus for them. However, Alexia sometimes believed too much in her luck and took more cards than she needed, while betting a significant amount of chips, which led to substantial losses.

However, since it was blackjack and there were four of them playing, even with Alexia’s reckless behavior, they still ended up with a small profit.

After blackjack, they decided to try craps. It was a noisy game based mainly on luck and how well a person threw the craps themselves. It seemed that Adam and Alexia should have had an advantage since they had accuracy and physical fitness that were unattainable for an ordinary person.

But, as in any other game, this casino was prepared for any guest, whether an ordinary human or a Phantom. The table and craps were designed so that no one had an advantage, not even people who tried to learn how to throw craps with the sides they needed.

Sure, in another, lower-level casino, this might have worked, but for the Phantoms, there was no point in visiting such places.

Tap.

The bartender placed a cold bottle of beer in front of Alexia, her third already.

“Agh… I’m tired!” she exclaimed. “We’ve been here half a day, and we haven’t earned anything!”

Louis, who had chosen a glass of red wine for himself, smiled faintly.

“Considering the bets you were making, that’s an achievement. If you had been here alone, you would have been left with nothing in half an hour.”

“Shut up! I’m just unlucky!”

Louis grinned before taking a sip. “You’re always unlucky. That’s not true.”

“It is!”

Adam and Silvana sat off to the side. They weren’t drinking anything; they’d had enough alcohol for one day. Instead, they had ice cream, pistachio, and chocolate. They didn’t say anything and just watched the interaction between Alexia and Louis, which gave them a lot to think about.

‘Do we look the same from the outside?’ Adam thought, looking at his pistachio ice cream and then at Alexia, who couldn’t admit that she was a terrible player.

Silvana ate chocolate ice cream and glanced at their wedding rings.

‘How unusual… They are not alike at all. Alexia behaves like a demon, but I can’t say that they don’t have harmony. They are different, but is that why they suit each other? Or is there something else hidden here?’

‘Also…’ Silvana narrowed her eyes, staring intently first at Louis, then at Alexia. ‘If they’re husband and wife and now on something like their honeymoon, that means every night they…’

For a moment, Silvana’s face flushed as she turned away. She was embarrassed that she wanted to imagine the scene in her mind, even though she knew it was none of their business.

‘Still,’ she muttered to herself. ‘I’m still curious. Alexia or Louis… Which one of them is in charge at night? If Alexia has such a fierce temper, maybe at night she’s obedient, or… is that Louis’s role?’

At the same time, Adam raised an eyebrow. He couldn’t understand why, but Silvana’s face turned red as a tomato, and hot steam was about to come out of her ears.

‘Did she feel sick after eating ice cream?’ He wondered and immediately switched to another thought.

Although they were both watching Alexia and Louis, they were thinking about completely different things.

‘The last time I saw Alexia was a long, long time ago. Back then, we were very weak compared to our current level. Also, what about Louis? If they are at the same level as me, then Louis must also have several abilities, both personal and shared, right?’

When Alexia finished her beer, and Adam and Silvana finished their ice cream, Louis paid for them, and they headed towards the arcade.

Unlike the gambling and card games that took up most of the casino, the arcade hall wasn’t that big, but it had everything you needed to have fun and not spend a few million due to bad luck and impatience.

There was even a separate area for bowling.

Like many things in casinos and entertainment in general, bowling was one of the activities Adam had never played before.

There were no places with working bowling alleys in the slums, or at least Adam didn’t know of any.

“How about we end our day here?” Silvana suggested, pointing to the bowling alley.

“Hmm?” Louis raised an eyebrow. “You bowl? To be honest, I didn’t expect that from you.”

“Well, I have a little experience. I’ve only tried it a few times, but when you get a strike, it’s worth it!”

Louis rubbed his chin thoughtfully as he looked from Adam and Alexia to the bowling lanes.

“I don’t mind, but we have one problem.”

“Hmm?”

In response, Louis pointed at Adam and Alexia.

“If those two play, they’ll get a strike every time they throw. I mean, knocking down ten pins isn’t the most difficult task for them.”

Adam shrugged.

“I’ve never bowled before, but I’ve seen it a few times on TV shows and in movies. I know the rules, and I understand what you’re talking about. Alexia and I can just lower our power level to the required level, right?”

“Yep!” Alexia grinned as she approached Louis. “It’s all about skill here, no luck involved! Even without my powers, I’ll easily come in first!”

Louis narrowed his eyes as he looked at Alexia’s confident expression.

“Hah, then let’s test it out!”

Strangely enough, casinos, which are usually considered something bad, became not only a reason for Adam and Silvana to meet old friends, but also a great way to relax after everything they had been through.

Sometimes, one needed to knock down a few strikes at the bowling alley between monster hunts. It never hurt anyone.
