Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 786 786: One more wing

Gnash leaned forward, her eyes reflected the crimson ray that destroyed the Frost Maiden, a monster capable of killing a dozen Phantoms without tensing up, but her evolution wasnʼt enough to bridge the gap with Adam.

”We should go to him. No matter how strong Adam is, as long as the Crimson Monarch is soaring high in the sky, he stands no chance of winning.”

Narrowing her eyes, Gnash continued:

”We must quickly assemble a squad of all available Phantoms with long-range attacks, we also need a squad of the supports to make Adam stronger - heʼs the only one who can defeat the Overlord Type.”

A whisper spread through the crowd. None of the Phantoms questioned her words, but action needed to be taken quickly. Everyone must decide if they are willing to go far beyond the walls, to risk their lives for the sake of helping Adam.

Step. Step. Step.

Katrin approached Gnash, watching as Adamʼs arm healed quickly.

”Hmm... Just like Alan said, with the arrival of crimson mist, regeneration in serpent lands became much more powerful. We can use that, I think we should move the fight right here - to the fortress.”

Her idea was received warmly by the Phantoms, but Gnash was clearly not happy, the intense grimace covering her face was proof.

”Argh? Whatʼs the point of this? Even if we defeat the Crimson Monarch here, there will be nothing left of the fortress at the end. Thousands of monsters will just tear us apart.”

Without waiting for her reply, Gnash looked at Viron, who was silently watching Adamʼs fight, studying it.

”Hey, say something! Do you have some way to bring the Crimson Monarch down to earth? If we kill him outside the fortress and keep Adam alive, then victory, no... survival is guaranteed to us!”

Nonchalantly shrugging his shoulders, Viron took a deep breath:

”No, Iʼm afraid thereʼs nothing I can do to the Crimson Monarch. You think too much of me. Iʼm a K2W0-Phantom, and this...”

He pointed at the Crimson Monarch, even from such a long distance he could feel his overwhelming aura.

”The Overlord Type monster with an unknown threat level. Sure, itʼs probably Dark Yellow, but thatʼs enough for him to kill me in one attack. The support squad is a good idea, but only Katrin can help Adam on the battlefield.”

Gnash wanted to say something, she was sure that she and Viron were strong enough to help Adam, but Katrin interrupted her by stepping forward.

”Viron is right. I will join the fight, but Iʼm of no use right now. When the Crimson Monarch sinks to the ground, when he can no longer fly, I will fight alongside Adam once again...”

At the same moment, a silver gleam reflected in their eyes. Adam used his Initial Order, many sharp threads came out of the rings on his fingers.

Anyone who had followed Adamʼs progress knew what the essence of his first slayed monster was, that he was a weaver in his own right.

But, his threads werenʼt long enough to reach the Crimson Monarch, everyone realized that. He needed help to bring the Crimson Monarch down to earth.

The next moment, something strange happened.

Adamʼs face contorted in pain, his eyes bloodshot as he gasped. No one understood what was happening, the effects of the Crimson Monarchʼs attack should be gone by now, there was no other strike that Adam received.

Then, when Adam could breathe a sigh of relief, red flames burst from his chest, streaming powerfully toward his threads.

The first crystal of the sun seal strengthened his First Order, the second crystal went to the Second Order, and the last one, gave all its power to Adamʼs threads.

However, this was only the beginning, since Adam put his full trust in Lone Blaze.

[Yes, I can do it - Iʼll execute your plan, I just need full control over your ability.].

That was the response Adam got half a minute ago.

Whoooooooooooooosh.

In a heartbeat, Adamʼs rings shattered, turning into liquid flames, heading towards his back in a large clot along with many threads.

”ARGH!!!!”

Adam howled in pain as the fire landed on the left side of his back, a little below his shoulder. The blaze burned through his flesh and skin, completely ignoring regeneration, all to get direct contact with his energy.

[Youʼre holding up well. You almost cried the first time, but now youʼre just gritting your teeth, though the pain is several times greater.]

Adamʼs eyebrow twitched, though it was praise, he wouldnʼt want to find himself in that situation ever again.

”Well... what can I say?”

For a moment, his eyes empty of piercing pain, Lone Blazeʼs flames, his altered Initial Order joined with energy.

”I had a good teacher, but...” Adam shook his head, hoping this was the last time, ”Iʼve experienced too much pain today, Iʼm getting sick of it.”

[Hah....]

Lone Blaze grinned, finalizing the preparations for their plan.

[Until you defeat the Crimson Monarch and fulfill the terms of our pact, you canʼt even dream of resting. You will fight to the last drop of blood, and... itʼs up to you whose blood it will be.]

At the same moment, dozens of threads burst out of the fiery blast, their number growing rapidly and surpassing Adamʼs past maximum, reaching several hundred.

It was impossible for Adam to control so many threads, in fact even his energy would be enough for only a couple of swings, but now it was not his concern, Lone Blaze had control over his threads.

Whooosh.

Under Lone Blazeʼs will, hundreds of threads of red flames intertwined with each other, forming several dense layers that no air would pass through.

Under the gaze of the monsters and the excited Phantoms, the threads quickly took the shape of a wide wing, majestic and burning.

The flame bits flew apart at the first flap, raising hot streams of wind like volcanic terrain.

Now, he had a wing as well, the authority over the sky.

The right wing was for the Crimson Monarch, and the left for Adam.
