Chapter 836, Zergs!? Military Training

Race: Cosmic Zerg (The coldest and darkest depths of the starry sky give birth to this terrifying race.)
Rank: Tier-4

Innate Talent:

Body of Evolution — It possesses a body capable of constantly evolving, allowing it to adapt to all extreme environments, and evolve further through battle. (Note: However, unlike individual evolution like that of Zi Lian, the evolution of this race extends to the entire species, and even to their entire group.)

Unique Abilities:

Vacuum Survival — It’s capable of surviving in outer space without the need to breathe.

Hunger Suppression — It can enter long periods of dormancy to suppress its hunger. The stronger the individual, the less dependent they are on food. For instance, a Tier-4 Zerg no longer requires sustenance.

Hibernation — It falls into deep slumber within the depths of the hive, and continuously evolves.

Hive Consciousness — The consciousness of each Zerg stems from a collective consciousness known as the Hive Mind. Individuals obey the Hive Mind unconditionally, even Tier-4 individuals are no exception. The Hive Mind also directs the evolution of individuals.

Elite Soldier — Born as a killing machine, it is the most suited for battle.

Sharp Stinger — Its mandibles can pierce through any defense, and inject neurotoxins upon penetration.

After taking a deep look at the status screen, Yu Zi Yu gazed at the Zergs in the distance, his eyes flickering with thought.

He could not help but find the existence of these Zergs astonishing.

They bore some resemblance to the Mutant Bees of Earth. However, compared to the Bees, their existence was far more perfect.

All of this was because even a powerful Tier-4 Zerg was nothing more than a Soldier Unit controlled by the Hive Mind.

What was even more terrifying was that the so-called ‘Hive Mind’ could specifically produce different types of Soldier Units tailored for various kinds of combat.

At this moment, Golden Monkey began to recount the recent battle in detail.

“Master… I feel this race is quite terrifying. Especially that screech we heard at the end. It gave me chills.”

…

Listening calmly to Golden Monkey’s recount, Yu Zi Yu could not help but find it amusing.

[Of course, it would be chilling. If my guess is right, that was likely the so-called Hive Mind—a consciousness that controlled billions of Zergs, a collective consciousness. In terms of pure psychic strength, that being is undoubtedly at the peak of Tier-5, and it might even be close to Tier-6. However, without directly experiencing it, I can’t make a final judgment.]

[Still, there is nothing to worry about. As a collective consciousness, the ‘screech’ attack it used earlier was likely its limit. After all, most of its awareness must be dedicated to controlling billions of Zergs. Yet, one thing is certain…]

“These Zergs are indeed a species born for war…” muttering softly, Yu Zi Yu came to a conclusion.

Individually, they were not particularly formidable. However, on a large-scale battlefield—especially in outer space—even the combined forces of Earth and Elysia would struggle to secure victory. That is, unless Yu Zi Yu himself stepped in.

And that was understandable, for both Elysia and Earth followed the path of individual evolution.

In terms of one-on-one combat, they truly held a superior edge. But when it came to warfare, facing a race like the Zergs, who had near-perfect coordination and an endless variety of specialized soldier units, who were on a whole new level, it was a completely different story.

Not to mention Earth and Elysia, Yu Zi Yu was confident that even the myriad races of the previous era would dread this species without the intervention of absolute powerhouses.

The Zergs had refined both their numbers and their coordination to the extreme.

And even more terrifying, they compensated for their shortcomings through specialized soldier units.

Of the four Zergs Yu Zi Yu had seen so far, three belonged to the warrior species known as the Stingers, bred purely for combat, while one was a Sentinel, acting as their guide and scout.

Yu Zi Yu also reckoned that there were likely even more types of Zergs hidden deep within the Hive, waiting for the Hive Mind’s call to awaken.

As Yu Zi Yu pondered, a voice suddenly rang in his ear, “Master, what do you plan to do?”

Looking toward the sound, Nine Tails had curiously come over.

“Hmm… How should I put this?” Deep in thought, a playful smile appeared on Yu Zi Yu’s face.

After a moment, Yu Zi Yu glanced at Nine Tails and then at Golden Monkey before speaking his mind frankly, “When I first saw this species, war was not the first thing that came to mind…”

“Uh…” Slightly startled, both Golden Monkey and Nine Tails looked puzzled.

At that moment, seemingly explaining, Yu Zi Yu’s voice echoed through the starry sky, “This race doesn’t have any inherent conflict with us. In fact, to some extent, we even have the potential to cooperate.”

After a brief pause, Yu Zi Yu continued, “If possible, I’d like to use this insectoid race for military training…”

“Military training?”

Golden Monkey asked, confused, “Master, do you mean…?”

“I plan to visit the existence behind the Zergs and convince it to help us train. We’ll set up a battlefield for Transcendent Tier-2, then another for Tier-3, and continuously send troops. Only those who achieve enough military merit or reach Tier-4 can leave the battlefield. As for Tier-4, they’re already considered elite, so there’s no need to create a battlefield for them…”

With each word, Yu Zi Yu’s eyes gleamed brighter, a hint of expectation flashing in them.

In truth, military training was not the most important thing.

What Yu Zi Yu saw was the endless potential for Evolution Points…

*Hehe…* Snickering, Yu Zi Yu realized from the very first glance that these Zergs were like a walking treasure trove of Evolution Points.

The Hive Mind would continue to breed Zergs, Yu Zi Yu’s forces would then slay them, harvesting Evolution Points.

If necessary, he could provide resources to the Hive to ensure it could continue producing Zergs.

It was a very perfect plan.

However, at that moment, Golden Monkey, suppressing the twitch in his eye, asked with a strange expression, “Master, are you sure these Zergs will cooperate with your training plan?”

“Do you think they have the right to refuse?” With a sudden rhetorical question, Yu Zi Yu’s face showed an even more playful smile.

“Uh…”

A moment of silence followed. Golden Monkey was stunned for a while.

But after a brief pause, as if realizing something, Golden Monkey chuckled bitterly. “It seems you’re right. Not many in this starry sky would dare refuse you, Master…”
