Inheriting A Divine Cultivation Clan At The Start, All My Juniors Are Empresses

Chapter 1138: Chapter 327: Feng Zhaoyang Arc (10)_5

”It’s very hard for refugees to get through.”

”It looks cruel, like watching people die without helping, but this kind of fire really is very dangerous. Right now we’d rather let all the furniture in a house burn than let even a single spark out. Once the deaths in the Sixth State are about enough, the flames of war will naturally die down.”

Yuchi felt a stir inside when he heard this. He’d thought he wouldn’t care about this sort of thing, but after really hearing Li Yixun’s explanation, he still felt a bit dazed.

Indeed, looking at it from the perspective of the bigger picture, right now the only option is to fully suppress and hold the line, just like a forest fire. On the one hand, you throw everything into putting it out; on the other, you have to build firebreaks. Sometimes a fire can almost never be extinguished, and you can only wait until all the trees have burned out.

Falling into a forest fire, it’s the trees and animals that are burned to death. Falling into the Sixth State, it’s the common folk who die off until there are about none left. Once there are no people, naturally there’s no conflict; with no people, naturally there’s no war; with no nobles, no regimes, war has no basis to exist.

But looking at it from the perspective of each living, breathing life, who knows how many people have to die in the Sixth State every single day.

Honestly, anyone in a sect who has disciples really can’t bear to look at this sort of thing.

But right now he truly was powerless—on the one hand trying to protect himself, on the other, his strength really was insufficient. With just his cup of water, how could he possibly put out that kind of raging mountain forest blaze.

Li Yixun sensed the faint sorrow on Yuchi’s face, and he sighed as well: ”It’s not that we’re doing nothing. To be blunt, we could send supplies to the Sixth State right now, but the Sixth State has already become a nightmare that eats people. No matter how many supplies we send over, it’s completely impossible to fill its stomach.”

”That place has already started to go completely off the rails. All kinds of monsters and fiends have crawled out.”

”War is for the maintenance of regimes. Once all the regimes fall apart, the war won’t continue. But those ones are different—they’re going purely for killing and plunder. The more provisions we send over, it’s like adding more firewood into the flames. The casualties will only be greater.”

Yuchi nodded. He naturally understood. Before the flames of war have subsided, to play the bodhisattva and send supplies to the refugees in the war zone is just adding fuel to the fire. He then asked, ”Have any great experts from our side gone over?”

”Yes.”

Li Yixun confirmed, ”Some Nascent Soul Stage cultivators have already been assigned to go. And of course there are senior experts in Divinity Transformation as well—they may already be in the Sixth State. But once you get to the Sixth State, who’s the enemy and who’s a friend? None of that is clear. It all requires a very long period of observation.”

”War, huh.”

”Without a hundred years, it won’t be finished.”

A hundred years?

Yuchi silently added in his heart: If it ends within a hundred years, that would already be pretty good. The real fear is that the flames of war will spread to the Fifth State as well, and then it won’t be a problem that can be solved in just a hundred years. By then all lives and wealth will just be fuel for the war. Until the internal strife has exhausted everything, the war won’t end.

And then when the war finally does end, well, there will again be a bunch of big powers who ”rose up through hard work and diligence.” The cycle repeats, over and over, one round after another.

Bleakly real.

Li Yixun himself didn’t know why the conversation had suddenly drifted into such a heavy topic. He shifted the subject and abruptly asked, ”Fellow Daoist Zong, have you married and had children yet?”

Huh? Yuchi was immediately a bit puzzled. What was this guy suddenly asking that for? He shook his head. ”Not yet.”

”Oh, is that so? A talented young man like Fellow Daoist Zong hasn’t married or had children yet—that’s a bit lonely. Actually, I have a daughter, named Li Niantao. I wonder if Fellow Daoist has heard of her.”

Li Yixun looked at Yuchi with warm enthusiasm.

Yuchi stared at Li Yixun in disbelief. What the hell is this? Big brother, you’re not even pretending anymore? I’m with the Celestial Craft Workshop, you know. Aren’t you and the Celestial Craft Workshop supposed to be enemies? You should be full of resentment toward me. But now what, we’re jumping straight to the matchmaking segment?

”My little girl Niantao is in the residence right now. I’ll introduce the two of you. Niantao has also heard of your great name, Fellow Daoist, and she has been wanting to properly meet you,” Li Yixun added.

Meet me?

Li Niantao?

No way.

Yuchi saw it very clearly—this Li Niantao probably didn’t even know who he was, or even whether he was a man or a woman, and she’d already been pushed out by her own father just like that.

Daughters of great clans were probably all like this.

And Yuchi didn’t have any better option on his side either. He could only nod and say, ”Alright. I’ve also heard of the young lady’s good name. Now that I have this opportunity, I very much wish to pay a proper visit to the young lady as well.”

You’re stringing me along.

I’m stringing you along.

We’re stringing each other along, and we both know exactly what’s going on in each other’s hearts.

”Haha, is that so?” Li Yixun didn’t care about any of that. ”Then Niantao will come over right away!”

”Stay for lunch at noon.”

”We’ll eat together.”

...

In another courtyard, Li Erbing had already found Li Niantao, who was crazily drilling her sword skill.

The young girl was clean and crisp, her ponytail wrapped around her neck, dressed head-to-toe like a Martial Artist. She was unleashing a frenzied assault on a straw man in front of her, letting out a series of sharp cries, ah-da-da-da, genuinely looking like she wanted this straw man to be completely, utterly dead.
